  1. I am not sleeved yet but my surgeon starts you on carafate in the hospital and sends you home with it too. I haven't read of anyone else being on this any body else take this?
  2. I ordered the samples from Chike I thought they were super yummy! Nice and thick too!! Really good on ice. For convenience I like the chocolate premiere shakes from sams. I also ordered the sample pack of nectar not really a fan but I have read that you can doctor them up with crystal light and other sugar free flavorings. They just tasted really bland to me and stunk sooo bad! Lol I have a friend who had a bypass 18 months ago and her hubby just had the sleeve 2 weeks ago and she swears by the gnc unflavored whey protein powder. She said that she adds it to everything and her hubby didn't even know it was there! Anyway sorry for the long post just my 2 cents worth!
  3. Oh my goodness! So exciting good luck to you and keep us updated!
  4. I used to make a mocha like that too I just used skim milk chocolate protein powder and coffee crystals and blend it right up! No premaking of the coffee required. You can also do 1/2 milk 1/2 coffee that has already cooled if you don't have any instant. Hth!
  5. Nectar has a cappuccino flavored protein powder. I have a sample but haven't tried that flavor yet.
  6. I too am in the 280's and would like to be 150 or less. I am hoping for a may surgery date. Congrats on your strong start and good luck on the rest of your journey!
  7. Great advice Steve Demko! I agree during my 6 month wait I have dropped soda completely and I never have liked to drink while eating a holdover from my childhood I guess. But in my situation I cannot lose any weight. I MUST have a bmi of at least 50 for insurance to pay for the sleeve. It's most aggravating as my bmi at the beginning of all this was 49.9. Luckily I have not had my official weigh in at the surgeons yet. Wish I could start gung ho!
  8. Lissa at this point I can't even imagine what it would be like to post after pics. It's all surreal like it will never happen for me but I know that it's just the devil talking lol! I can't wait for this amazing journey to begin I am so inspired by all of you!
  9. Thanks beautifulnewme! That is what I'm hoping for!!
  10. Well guys I'm gonna do what I gotta do but I can't stand the thought of intentionally gaining weight. Thanks for the insight guys!
  11. Fluffybleu76 I will keep my fingers crossed for you too! I love support I have found here my husband is behind me 100% but he really doesn't fully get it. It's nice to be able to talk with people who understand what I am going thru. You will do fine with your psych appointment. Keep us updated!
  12. I too am playing that weighting game! I want this done like yesterday! I have everything completed except 1 more 6 month visit and the nut visit then we will send for approval. Surgeons office said to expect a probably surgery date in the beginning of may. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
  13. Can you tell me more about how Dr.Nease does things? I am so excited! He is who I am seeing too! We are shooting for an early May surgery date and I have so many questions! How many days were you in the hospital? Does he use a q ball? I could go on and on lol! Any info would be great. Thanks in advance!
  14. So I have been lurking on this forum for a while. I have 1 month left to go on my 6 consecutive doctors appointments. Already have my psych eval, blood work,EKG, and chest X-ray. My first appointment with the surgeon is April 10th after that all I will need is my nutrition class. Then they will send for approval with my insurance, they said most probably I will have a surgery date sometime near the first of May! My question is this for my insurance to cover the sleeve I need a bmi of at least 50 my bmi is 49.9! Doctors office did not tell me to gain weight however they did say the bmi is calculated on your first appointment with the surgeon. So do I gain the weight? Put rolls of quarters in my pockets? Will they deny me because I have been maintaining and sometimes dropping 2-3 pounds a month on my regular 6 month appointments then suddenly gaining 5-10 pounds right at the end? I am so torn! I am scared to death of rny and the band I really want a sleeve! Advice please!
