  1. well, i commented at 3 weeks that this had NOT yet happened to me. anyway, i am now 13 weeks post op and I still sweat. i guess i am not one of the lucky ones. i am so glad it worked for some, just wish it had for me too...
  2. i started out confined to a motorized chair or wheelchair....due to 2 back surgeries & doctor "wanting" to replace both my knees and one hip because of arthritis... i had been wheelchair bound for years... i was 328 pounds...diabetic, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, asthma, and chronic fatigue to name a few issues. talking to the psych doctor he asked me "what do you want to achieve by having WLS ? ... i said "better health, talk a walk with my husband" when i started the process in November 2011 until surgery on May 2nd...i lost 34 pounds... so surgery date i weighed 294... about a month ago, i started walking around my kitchen island ... then added down the hall and back... i have up'd my out of chair time til almost 7pm... as of this morning i weigh 249....so down 45 pounds since surgery (13 weeks) and overall total of 79 lbs... i also went for a walk down the driveway this morning with my husband !!! <3 ... a short walk but a walk none the less... life is great and getting better every day!
  3. thanks for the reminder that "muscle weighs more than fat"... so as i lose weight but gain muscle ... i stall! (hits forehead with palm) i can't wait til i measure tomorrow!
  4. thank you Tracy.... i am in a stall again but i haven't given up on my walking... i know stalls happen, so not allowing the scale to dampen my spirits.... i am able to walk longer now, except when i am cooking... standing in one place for any length of time is not good... My back starts to fail me and begins spasming & after it spasms , i am in my chair the rest of the night...... before it begins to fail & spasm, i use my chair for cooking but then up and about rest of night... so, technically i walk from waking up to bedtime except for cooking dinner... woo hoo!!! i am in a stall right now (been going on for about a week to 10 days) .... not fun but expected.... tomorrow is my day to take measurements, so looking forward to those numbers! thank you again for all your support...
  5. ***update*** i am now 13 weeks post-op and am able to be out of my wheelchair, walking around the house, from when i wake up until about 6pm... so, when you all plan a get together, i might not have to wait a whole year before i join... loving my sleeve!
  6. lol...makes me giggle what they *** on here... i too, love my cpap ... when i lay down to read i put it on just in case i fall asleep... i too have had mine for around 7 - 8 years, so pretty accustomed to it... I use the nasal pillows... BTW, my husband uses one too...talk about sexy!!! lol ... but we get all our "cuddling/+" done before we put them on.
  7. you are doing fabulous! keep up the good work...
  8. you are doing FANTASTIC !!!! you look great, sound positive and yes, you are rockin your sleeve!

  11. My husband took me shopping today at Goodwill.... Before surgery i was wearing: pants (all elastic waistband) - 26/28 - 3x tops (all knit) - 30/32 - 4x shoes (black only) 9 - 9.5 Today: jeans (with zipper & button) 20 tops (knit AND some cotton ones) 2x shoes (colorful) 8 For the first time (in i don't know how many years) i had fun (yes, fun) trying on clothes.... played "dress up" again when we got home.!!! it will continue to get better and better each month.... I LOVE MY SLEEVE!

  15. i dip my pork rinds in homemade onion dip or salsa... Onion Dip: 1C non-favored Greek yogurt ((or more depending on the strength of dip you want))... 1package dry onion Soup mix... ((i also dip red, yellow or orange bell peppers in the onion dip)) love love love American cheese cut into 16 pieces and microwave 60 seconds.. as mentioned previously ... ((also used smoked cheddar))
  16. my username name on "myfitnesspal" is: Sandy0424...will you friend me so that i may get great food choices from your diary? thank you ... anyone else willing to share you diary on myfitnesspal please add me... i am 12 weeks today and find i am in a rut, so am getting bored with my meals.... thank you!
  17. you look FANTASTIC !!!! Great job.
  18. i have sleep apnea...i had surgery on May 2, 2012... i was really bad, so tired because i was not getting into REM sleep mode...there were days at work, i wasn't sure if i could make it through the day without a nap (or falling asleep at my deck)... so, when i got my CPAP machine about 8 years ago, i could feel the difference in about 3 days... no longer felt like i needed a nap... even now, if i lay down to read, i use my machine in case i fall asleep... i took my machine with me when i had surgery per doctors request ... sincerely surgery, i have lowered the pressure but still use it... will i ever get to stop? i don't know if i would stop even if told i could....not unless they did another sleep study and proved to me, on paper, that i no longer stopped breathing while i slept... its nothing to ignore, people die from it...
  19. today i walked... Lissa, you make sense about giving my body to relax... when i got up this morning the chair never crossed my mind. I was sitting in the kitchen eating roasted chicken breast for Breakfast before i even realized i was not in my chair....felt so good for it to "just happen"... wake up and walk!!!
  20. Cris , your blog was/is emotional, exceptional and heart felt.... just stating the obvious...
  21. i like the sound of "retraining".... that took away some of the disappointment i felt in myself for using my chair today.... i feel so good when i am up walking...so proud of how far i have come since surgery on May 2nd... so i forget it hasn't been 3 months since surgery vs years in the chair... i need to listen to you all and stop being so hard on myself... thank you all!!!

Lean on me!!! i am an unknown who cares for you...who will support you...who will never judge you... ((if you want to scream, cuss or blame something, i will listen))... understanding hugz and support sent your way... lean on me ... sincerely sandy/tjmom
