  1. I today I am 3 weeks post op and working from mushy into soft food and since starting mushy foods about a week ago have has a lot gas pressure and a pain in my left side that feels like a side ache when I walk. I called my doctor and she said that it could be from my body settling after surgery. I am curious if others have had this feeling after surgery or could it be pressure from gas since I am up and moving?
  2. I was banded on the 15 of February and still seem to have that gas pressure, not as bad as the first few days but still there. I had pain in my right shoulder and that after about 2 weeks has gone away and hopefully for good I have just noticed that it just takes time and each day will have its ups and downs. Hopefully your pains will pass soon
  3. My incisions are the same way each one has a hard ball under the skin- do hope they go away once fully healed
  4. Surgery center I went to said that insurance asked for 1 recorded weight from a previous doctor for the past three years- I didnt go to the doctor in 2010 so they just submitted the paper work with 2009 and 2011 and everything was fine. When I called the insurance about that and asked if it would prevent me from having surgery they were not aware of that being a requirement. Was confused but thought maybe it was the doctors office just trying to cover all bases at once but was approved and now about 3 weeks post op. I would just recommend that if you have questions to call your insurance and verify what is required that way you have the knowledge
  5. I was banded on the 15th of February and am down 10lbs since surgery. I have my first follow up and fill on march 22nd so have a ways to go still. Starting to feel better each day
  6. What worked for me before being banded and starting to work out was to meet with a trainer (first time ever) and I was only meeting with her every two weeks and she would give me a work out cards to use on days I was not working with her. Helped me work my way back into the gym and using the right machines and how to identify when to add more weight.
  7. I was making my own with powder mix until I found the premier nutrition at Costco- they are premixed and taste good, well the chocolate one tastes good atleast
  8. I only had to do 24 hours liquids prior to surgery. I am now 2 weeks post op . I had surgery on the 15th of February and returned on the 27th of February so about a week and a half off. I know others have posted on here about going back to work days after but I would say that would of been way to soon for me.
  9. Best of luck with your surgery, everything will be fine. I was banded on the 15th of february and everyday it gets better.
  10. Good luck with your surgery- Wish you a speedy recovery I was banded on the 15th and am feeling way better already.
  11. I am feeling the same way- very nervous and woke up not feeling well either, hoping it passes soon.
  12. I am on the count down- less than 24 hours till surgery. Just amazed at how fast the date has come
  13. I am with you- I am scheduled to arrive at 6:45am on Wednesday morning and am getting more and more nervous everyday. Good luck to you on your surgery and a speedy recovery
  14. I have not been banded yet so can not directly comment on the cost at Emma Pattersons office for fills but can say that I have have done 6 months and am getting banded on 2/15/2012 by Dr. Patterson and didnt have a required amount of weight to lose before surgery. The weight requirment might have been from the insurance but am not sure as I was not told of a certain amount required.
  15. Thanks for the encourgament- if you dont mind me asking, who was your doctor? I am also from the Portland area.
  16. I am right there with you- having surgery the same day as you and have never had a surgery before. Very nervous about surgery and its next week- Things will be fine and will have to post once your home and feeling better, would love to hear how things went for you-
  17. I have only shared with 2 friends who have had surgery (either band or bypass) and of course close family. I feel like others on here that to me, this is a personal thing and want to be a journey that I can enjoy instead of thinking about the opinion of others about my choice-
  18. Are you using to much Protein Powder when you make your shakes? If I use to much protein powder it makes my stomach upset. Hopefully you can find something that will work for you.
  19. How exciting- we are scheduled for the same day- February 15th. I am getting a bit nervous but excited at the same time
