148 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!

Good morning, Violets... I slept in till 9 this morning. Bob got up and greeted Ethan at 8. I made breakfast for Ethan and Bob and I had a few bites of the eggs and sausage. Then got dressed and was playing on the computer when the mail arrived. In it was a beautiful angel pin and book from my Secret Santa! THANK YOU PamELA.. I sent you an email with a link to Ethan and I reading the book. We both love it!! Let me know if the link works for you. I'll forward it on to the rest of the Violets so you can see how I spend my day! Nothing on the agenda today except Flute rehearsal at 6:30 tonight. Tomorrow morning we are finishing up all the wrapping of Christmas gifts and figuring out what we need to finish it off. I think we are pretty much done though and that's a good feeling this early! Good evening, Violets.. Back from choir and dinner out. We spent over an hour at the restaurant waiting for our nachos. Don't have a clue what took so long, but luckily we had good company to keep us occupied. PamELa.. I came across this recipe in a local holiday cookbook. Thought it might be easy enough and it sounded good. ***Easy Holiday Rush Cookies*** 1 box yellow cake mix 1/4 cup butter, softened 8 oz. cream cheese, softened Powdered sugar In a large microwave bowl, microwave butter and cream cheese until very soft. Mix in the cake mix. Roll into 1/2 inch balls and put on baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 7-10 minutes. Sprinkle warm cookies with powdered sugar. Store in refrigerator. Makes about 4 dozen.

Fudge is done. Got 10 gift boxes made of milk chocolate, milk chocolate with nuts, peanut butter and mint fudge. I took a few licks, but not any chunks of fudge. It's way too sweet for me. We have some left over so it will be a temptation for the Bobster, but he's been very good so far. I have a 2 hour choir rehearsal tonight.. not looking forward to that at all... The pageant is Sunday and my Messiah concert is Sunday. I'll be ready for a nap on Monday! Then its getting ready for Christmas week and all that entails. Lots of church time for sure. Off to choir... BBL...

Good morning, Violets.. I'm up and waiting for Ethan to arrive for the day. We made a batch of fudge last night. Turned out ok, but not as creamy as I'd like. Going to try a couple more batches today. I have to have a gift box of fudge ready to take to our dog groomer today. 2 hour choir rehearsal tonight and then going out to dinner with them all. Our pageant is Saturday and we are not quite ready yet, but we'll get there! Off to get some breakfast and get dressed. Everyone make it a great day!!

Good evening, Violets.. Chapel service went well today. They always love hearing the flutes and it's such an easy gig. I stayed after and got all my music ready for January. We won't be in church for 3 Sundays so I had to pick out some easy music that anyone could lead. 25 days till our cruise!! I came home, read on the puter and then took a little nap. I'm going to warm up some leftovers and then head to my singing rehearsal. Michelle!!! Good for you on avoiding temptation. I don't make Christmas cookies because I can't resist. We make fudge and that's not a problem because I really don't like fudge that much. Off to warm up some food. Everyone have a good evening!!

Good morning, Violets.. Lots of snow on the ground this morning. Glad I don't have to go anywhere until 11. Then its off to the church for a chapel service. My friend Betsy and I will be playing Christmasy flute duets for the service. Ethan isn't coming today so the Bobster and I have the day to ourselves. Might have to make a batch of fudge for gifts. We were planning on doing that Friday, but today might be even better with no little helper! Still trying to shake this darn cough. I had a coughing jag last night about 3 a.m. and got back to sleep about 4. Seems ok now. I'm watching all the doves in the bird feeders. They don't leave much room for the smaller birds, but they're beautiful to watch. Off to get some breakfast and get dressed for the day. Everyone have a great one!!

Good morning, Violets.. Back from my volunteer shift at the hospital. They gave me a gift certificate to Little Caesar's Pizza for a holiday gift. arghhhhhhhh Oh well, it's the thought that counts. After the support group meeting on Saturday, I had new resolve to get my head back in the game. Remember when I said I'd lose 10# by Thanksgiving?? Well, that came and went and I gained instead of lost. It's all the cookies, cupcakes, candy and ice cream. When I pb real food, I figure the only thing I can eat is junk. Not a good habit. I weighed in today and am dangerously close to 190 and I swore I would never go back there again. Soooooooooo no sweets this week. That's my immediate goal. The Bobster is in the same boat so we'll keep watch over each other. Suzy....sorry about the band issues and the job. Hopefully both will work out for you soon. Haydee.. I use 1/3 pork and 2/3 beef in the pasties. The pork adds moisture. They were the best pasties I've had in a long time. Kris makes an awesome crust. Ethan arrives in an hour so I'm gong to go get some exercise in before he gets here. Everyone have a great day. I have a special meeting with the church board and staff today before the regular board meeting. I'm really tired of all the run around and tiptoeing around the pastor issue. But with Bob at his new church starting in January, I have an excuse to finish up my time there and resign in June.

Good morning, Violets! And here I thought I'd be the first one posting today. Bob left at 5:30 this morning to go to a church 3 hours away for a six minute presentation. arghhhhh ya gotta love the north. It's always 3 hours from here to there. He'll be back home this afternoon. I got up earlier than usual cause our flute quartet is playing all the music for the church service today so I need to get there early and warm up. Janie.. I remember Roger Williams! Glad you had a good time. Michelle.. 2 a.m.?? seriously????? Laura... it is almost time for Bob and I to make our fudge for Christmas gifts. I'm putting it off as long as possible! Our support group meeting went very well yesterday. Kathy, my friend who had the surgery a year ago October has lost 93 pounds. Remember I told you she eats more than me, is 65 and doesn't exercise. Arghhhhhhhhh I'm happy for her, but don't know why I can't be just like her!! (although I don't want to be 65 quite yet!!) Hope everyone has a great day today. I need to go spike up my hair and get dressed and look for some breakfast. BBL!!

Good morning, Violets.. We're off to breakfast with our cruising buddies... 28 days before we leave!! Then support group meeting and then off to Kris's house to make pasties while Joe hunts with Nathan. DS Joshua got his deer yesterday so Joe is the only one without. And he's the one who needs it the most, food wise!! Heather... so glad you survived the blowout! How scary!!!!! Michelle.. glad you're enjoying yourself.. PamELa.. how was the party?? Good morning, Violets.. 8 degrees here right now.. brrrrrrrr. But no new snow and schools are in session. We have our church ladies luncheon at 11:30 today and then I hope to get to a basketball game where one of my former colleague's daughter is playing. All depends on if Bob can get home from his meeting to watch Ethan when he arrives at 1:30. Bob will be working out the details of the contract with the new church. He's excited for this new beginning. It allows him to preach, which he LOVES, and to keep busy and not worry so much about the Alpena church. Josh got to Kris's around midnight last night. They had a blizzard in Kalamazoo so it took him several hours longers than anticipated. He and Nathan will be out in the woods today hunting deer. I really can't imagine Josh shooting anything, but we'll see. Off to get ready for the luncheon and clean up a little bit in the house. I got all the Christmas gifts wrapped for Josh's family so he can take them back with him. Everyone have a great day!!! Take care of that cough, PamELa. I still have mine, but it gets better each day.

Good evening, Violets.. It was a good day today. Ethan left at 3:30 and Bob and I got to go out and get a few things and then we drove around and looked at Christmas decorations. The chili was excellent! We're going out in a little bit to get some Christmas stockings for the kids. Every year they each get a candy cane stick, a pez dispenser, a life saver book and the guys get Christmas boxer shorts. It's tradition.... We always get the next year's stuff when it's on sale the end of the season and just stash it in the Christmas closet. I have to get all the downstate grandkids gifts wrapped and ready to send home with Joshua when he leaves on Monday. Then the out of town Christmas will be taken care of. Heather.... I read your post about what you do and I confess, I still don't know what you do, but I'm sure you do it well.:eek: Glad your band and the fill are working for you. Can you imagine what we'd be like without it????? Any teeth for Ayla yet?? Michelle.. have a safe trip.. check in when you can! PamELa... tomorrow is Friday!!!!! Good afternoon, Violets.. We are getting snow showers.. sometimes heavy today. I got some pretty pictures of poppa cardinal against the white snow and posted them on facebook. I got my SS gift in the mail today. It went Parcel Post and they promised it would be there by Christmas. Got my fingers crossed!! The Bobster got all the fixin's for chili tonight. Ethan will be here till 5 and then I'll put everything in the pressure cooker and it will be done by 6 at the latest. Love my pressure cooker!! Tomorrow is the church ladies Christmas luncheon and then we are going out with the kids for supper. Bob has his meeting with the new church to hammer out details of hours and salary. wooo hoooooo!! Off to check out Facebook and play a little Bejeweled.

155 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!

Good morning,Violets.. School is closed here in Alpena, but my former school in Mio isn't. Those were the days I used to dislike the most... when I had to drive 62 miles to school when the school right here was closed. I'm so thankful I don't have to worry about that anymore. I have a flute rehearsal this morning. Hope all 4 of us can make it in. The side roads are really icy. We didn't get any more snow, but the slush all froze so it's a mess. Bob went out last night and shoveled the mess the grader pushed into our driveway so we're ahead of the game on that for the time being. Ethan will be here all day today. Our son who lives 7 hours away will be coming up to Kris's house for the weekend so he can hunt with Nathan. We are going out to dinner together tomorrow night and then Kris and I are making pasties Saturday for Josh's birthday party. My baby will be 34 on the 16th.... yikes!!!!!! Off to spike up my hair and get dressed. Everyone have a wonderful day.. Haydee... hope your dad is doing well today. Hugs to you and your family..

Forgot to tell you...remember last July when I told you one of my former students was accidently shot and killed by his cousin? Josh was 16 years old when he died. Well, his 17 year old sister died today from cystic fibrosis. What a sad, sad Christmas this will be for this family. I had both Josh and Jessica in Kindergarten. Great kids.

Good evening, Violets.. We got dumped on with snow and wind last night. All schools in the area were closed and I cancelled choir. Ethan stayed home with Joe, so Bob and I had the day to ourselves. I started the Christmas cards and did a little laundry. I have not even gotten dressed today!! I'm still coughing and wish I could get rid of it. Jen is doing better today. She went in to work, but came home when the boss came in. She was in a lot of pain and needed to rest today so he sent her home, thank goodness. Joe works tomorrow so we'll have Ethan for the day. I have a flute rehearsal and that's it for the day. Not sure what the weather will be, but we're supposed to ge some more snow and wind tonight. Haydee.. so glad to hear your dad's alright. Off to fix some leftovers for supper.. ribs, potatoes and onions and sweet and sour red cabbage.. a repeat from last night. Everyone have a good evening. Glee and modern family on tonight!!!
