Eating With Large Groups At Big Meals After Lap Band
This is a tricky one ... and for ME, MY PERSONAL experience has been that I go to a function, get a plate of food, and eat my 1 cup of food ... then I socialize. AND THEN after I see people continuing to eat and getting 2nds ... my 1 cup of food turns to 1.5-2 cups of food and I have a tight chest and a tummy ache for the next few hours .... You have to learn what works for you. What does NOT work for me is attending these functions and trying to act normal. I'm a creature of habit, and my habit is overeating .... I think you need to make sure you make healthy choices for youself but try to balance the social aspect of these functions. Instead of sitting at the table, get up and walk around and talk to people. Search the web on your phone or tablet, play with the kids, offer to help clean up so that while people are eating you're busy cleaning dishes or taking out the trash. Good luck!

Why I'm Not Telling My Mother In Law
you have to be very careful who you tell, and you're doing the right thing deciding now who will know and who wont. Mothers-in-law can be brutal so I feel your pain. Mothers can be brutal too (I know that as well). Just keep in mind that you need supportive, non-judgmental people in your corner. If you cant count on anyone that you know, turn to the message board. Good luck and welcome!

Meal Sizes?
I can eat 1 to 1.5 cups of food. if i eat 2 cups i get the signals that ive done TOO much. If your 1/2 cup of food is good lean proteins mostly then you will stay satisfied.

March Bandsters!
dquoiya I am in the SAME EXACT boat as you! I was banded March 9 ... and I'm down a total of maybe 12-15 lbs (the scale keeps going up and down for the last month) ... I exercise pretty hard 3 days a week. I take in about 1200-1300 cals a day. I'm gonna try and limit my bad cards (bread, potatoes, pasta) and see if that helps jump start this weight loss. I go on a cruise in 6 weeks and I really want to look my best! so wish me luck everyone!!! dquoiya hang in there!

Meal Replacements
I like "Oh Yeah" protein shakes .... ready to drink ... very low sugar and 32 g of protein per 14 oz bottle.

March Bandsters!
I have the carb cravings ... and salt too. If I eat doritos or a cookie or something then it sends me on a downward spiral.

Does Our Age Make A Difference?
Mandy feel free to email me or send me a private message on the forum. Info@sydneywyatt.com You can also FB me. My FB email is sunshyne068@yahoo.com and you can search for me. I do have a personal trainer and I workout a lot now, more than I ever did before. I can really see a difference in my body because of working out. The only time I lose weight without working out is if I take in 900-1000 calories a day.

Water Slides
I have always loved water slides ... but back in May i went to a water park that had the super fast slides ... and I was going down laying flat on my back and I felt something weird going on in my chest ... maybe it was adrenaline or something but I kinda started to freak out. I kinda sat up on the slide while I was going really fast and I think that may have made things worse. My band seemed tighter for about a day after I got off the slide. I have not had any problems with the slides that have inflated inner tubes ...

Plateau How I Loathe You -_-
I would say decrease calories ... since you have lost a lot of weight your body may no longer need 1200 calories ... how about 1000 1050 for 3 days and see if that helps. or do a liquid diet for 2 days and see if that breaks the plateau

Lost 6 Pounds!!
I lost 3 lbs on the liquid diet.

Does Our Age Make A Difference?
I did atkins when I was 21 ... the weight came off without any effort. I did atkins again when I was 26 ... I lost less than 20% of the weight that came off the 1st time. Im not sure how it goes with the band ... but I was (still am) 28 when I got banded.

Getting A Little Worried...

My Example Of "maintenance"
I notice that when I do liquids I do get that tighter feeing ... but I havent recently been able to hold to the liquid diet for more than 5 hrs LOL. I want to really try and do it for a full day and hopefully work up to do 2 days .... would you mind being my accountability partner and check in with me on my liquid diet this week? I'll gladly to the same for you.

March Bandsters!
Congrats everyone!!!! I was having some acid reflux issues after my last fill so my doc took 0.25 cc out ... i have like 4.25 cc now in an 11cc band. anyone else having acid reflux issues and you never had them before surgery? I have been taking Prilosec and it's helping control the reflux pretty well now. My weight is going up and down about 3 lbs for the last 3 wks or so ... I'm gonna try and do a day or 2 of only liquids and see if that helps break the stall ... but I always end up eating something solid LOL ... wish me luck I go back to the doc in 2 wks ... maybe he'll give me another fill.

I Am Having Such A Hard Time Now.
have you tried the "5 day pouch test" to break your plateau? (google it or search on the forums) also what about exercise? change up your current routine ... or add an extra 20-30 mins to what youre doing twice a week and see if that helps. maybe up your calories for 2 days then drop them back down and see if that shocks your body into dropping some pounds. You look great from you avatar pic though ... great job so far!

I've Come To Despise Eating.
try to explore new foods and maybe you will find something that you like. for me its been fresh fruit. I never really ate a LOT of fruit before ... but now that I know it fills me up AND is low in calories, I'll eat an apple as a dessert or snack, and I HATED apples before!!! Grapes, bananas, prunes, you name it, I'll take that 80-100 calorie snack over a bag of chips. What about egg and cheese quiche for Breakfast? Yogurt? Explore the world of Soups that's out there - tomato, crab, chicken, chili, the list is endless. I get annoyed that it takes me FOREVER to eat a sub sandwich, or fried chicken ... so I eat those things less. But Im forcing myself to be in the mindset that those items arent healthy for me anyway. Im only 4 months post op but you will get into the swing of things soon. Hang in there.
