  6. I am scheduled to meet with a surgeon tomorrow! This is my first appt in my journey and I am excited/ nervous!! Anyone go through Cooper hospital in New jersey?? Can someone please tell me what happens during your first consult?! And let's be honest, has anyone used ankle weights for their initial weigh in? Im thinking about it because my BMI is 37.8 and I want my insurance to cover the surgery!!!!!
  7. I am trying to get a feel for keystone's approval process. Has anyone had any experience with them? I had my first appt. today and my BMI is 39.8. I know my insurance requires a BMI of 35-40 with a comorbidity or 40+ without for approval. Are they going to give me a hard time because i dont have any comorbities (that i know of) and my BMI is .2 under 40?!?!

This is all very new for me, I just had my very first consult appt today! Out of curosity, what are the "7 weigh ins?". This is the first I am hearing about "weighing in" with all of the reading I have done.
  9. I had my first appt. today! The Dr. told me it will be about 3 months until I have my surgery. I am waiting to start scheduling my preop appts. to get this ball rolling! Good Luck!

  14. My first appt is on Tuesday the 31st!! I'm excited but also nervous, I read these forums almost every night for support!!
  15. I am 5'2" and about 205lbs giving me a BMI of about 37. I have struggled with my weight my entire life and have tried every diet out there. I began thinking about getting the Lap Band surgery so I made some calls to schedule an appt to consult with a surgeons. Out of the three calls I made, only one office considered me to be a bariatric surgery candidate. I am very excited but am also skeptical- has anyone else had the surgery with a lower BMI and no major health issues??? My appt isn't until the 31st and my anxiety is going to be through the roof by then!!
  16. thank you all for your words and support. The lap band surgery, if approved, is a last resort for me, as it is for most of you. I have been overweight my ENTIRE LIFE, i am just not happy anymore! It is hard to stay motivated when i have hit the gym 3-4 times a week for the past two months, watched what i was eating and only lost a few pounds, which i can gain back in a weekend! I need results and I need them to stay! I have my first appt. with my surgeon on the 31st of this month! I will keep you posted

    Greetings!

I have struggled with my weight my entire life and in my experience the only manageable diet is weight watchers.. It's a slow process but if you add an excercise routine with it the lbs will drop and you wont be miserably starving yourself!! Good luck!!! Also, make sure you ate drinking LOTS AND LOTS of water!!
