    April 25Th!

I'm doing pretty good, down 42 lbs now and finally made it to the 100's I weight 198lbs now :-)
  2. Is it me or does food not taste the same post sleeve? I tried one of my favorite foods today, just a bite, and it was not as good as I remembered, almost down right disgusting!
  3. I totally understand where your coming from! I've been on so many diets my whole life its hard for me to believe this would really work. I was sleeved April 25th so a little over two weeks ago. I started out at 240 lbs. At my two week mark I had lost 17 lbs already, but I have a fear that that's it :-( but I know I can do this and so can you!

    Comfort Me Please

I too will be sleeved on April 25th! I'm 23 too! Although I am nervous about pain and suffering, I know that it is totally worth it. I'll take a period of discomfort for the end goal. Pain doesn't last always :-)

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

Hi all! I will be sleeved April 25th and I'm so excited and nervous at the same time!
  7. So after three months of consultations, nutrition.visits, and psych evaluations, i am finally approved for surgery. It only took a week for insurance to approve me. But now that I'm approved, I have gotten so scared! Afraid that it won't work....afraid I'll mess it up...afraid I'll be that one with complications.... This is also hard for me because the only people o know that knows I'm doing this is my mom and a few close friends, and for someone like me that knows A LOT of people, some really nosey, it is probably going to be much talk about me losing weight. I really don't want anyone to know about my surgery at all. What are some things you all told people about how you lost weight? I figure I'm gonna have to tell a couple of white lies :-)

    Lap-Band Tragedy

The problem I have is that under my insurance I can pretty much only go to one surgeon. So I just have to tell him my position and hopefully he agrees.
  9. Hi all, This is my first time posting on here but I have a really important question. Where any of you pressured into the lap band instead of the sleeve? I am in a pre-op program for surgery and during their weekly meeting the surgeon said he didn't want me to get the sleeve and rather for me to get a lap band. I am very uncomfortable with the thought of a foreign object in my body forever, especially after reading some horror stories that come along with it. I guess my question is can a doctor tell me you either get the lap band or nothing at all? His concern was that if I get pregnant one day since I'm only 22 that at least with the lap band they can take the liquid out of the band. I understand his concern but after looking through this website I see that many women have children after having this surgery. I just don't want to feel pressured to get something I don't want. If anything happens to me because of surgery I can live with it if it was the surgery I chose but I couldn't if it was a type of surgery I was pressured into. It's to the point that if he says I can't have the sleeve I won't have surgery at all. Has this happened to anybody else out there? Please help!!!!!!
  10. I think my surgeon is so Hell bent on the band because he was the first surgeon to do it in my state. People don't like to admit defeat and if you look at all the people who have had issues with the band it is definitely defeat.

    Lap-Band Tragedy

Stories like this helped me realize the band was not for me. My doctor feels like I should get the lap band instead of the sleeve or to get a vertical banded gastroplasty which is pretty much stomach staple. I am going to stand my ground and tell my doctor I want the sleeve!
  12. Thank you all so much! This really had me worried, I hate feeling pressured to do something I don't want to do.
