  1. I tried calling the pre-op diet lady and she hasn't returned my call. All last week i was snacking on veggies at night cuz i was super hungry and now kinda scared that I wont do it any more. My surgery is a week and a half away so until i hear back from her i guess i won't snack on them anymore at night and just double up on water, sugar free drinks, and thicker protein shakes with fruits. So far in that week i dropped 7lbs so hopefully I'm still on track and won't have any problems. I'm a worrier and can't get it out of my head. Arrrrg
  2. So far my pre-op diet is going fine. Its really hard fighting temptations. My doc has me doing protein shake for breakfast, a light lunch with low fat/sugar and protein shake for dinner. I know im suppose to stick to that but at night i get a little hungry so i snake on no fat yogurt with 20g of protein with slices of mango or snack on radishes, bell peppers, tomatoes, or celery. I'm thinking they have no fat and fill me up. Is this considered cheating? Other than that im sticking to my diet and lost a few pounds. 10 more days till my surgery April 4th.
  3. Im on day 8 of my pre-op diet. My doctor told me Protein Shake for breakfast, small low sugar/fat lunch, and protein shake for dinner. I've been getting hungry at night so eat I eat a few veggies like radishes, bellpeppers and tomatoes as a healthy snack. Im sure it wont affect my diet right? So far lost 7lbs so i think i'm doing ok for now. I have another 10 more days until my surgery. Its getting so close im so excited.
  4. I'm april 4th too yay!
  5. Wow Some how I was lucky enought to have my insurance pay the whole thing. The only thing is I have to go 7 hours to and from the surgery the same day but they are driving me there and back. I just don't want to be in a lot of pain for the trip home. Good luck to you!
  6. Wow Ashley that's so far. Good luck on traveling there. Woot go April bandsters our time has finally come lol
  7. Mine is April 4th and the doc said 2 week before and to start on Protein shake for Breakfast, Small Low sugar/fat lunch, and Protein shake for dinner. So far its going ok its just the no smoking and no caffeein thats killin me =P . The doc also told me to avoid blood thinners as well.
  8. I had half a bag of popchips today. Is that bad? My banding is April 4th so I hope to have time to recover if I did do anything non preop diet. I hope its not bad. I want this surgery more than anything. Otherwise I have been really good protein shake for breakfast light lunch and protein shake for dinner
  9. My main issus will be the traveling 6 hours to and from the surgery the same day. Hope they give me lots of pain meds for the ride home

  11. Hey Ladies and Gents! Having my Surgery done April 4th. Starting my Pre op diet tomorrow. They said Protein shake for Breakfast, small low fat/sugar lunch, Protein Shake for dinner until surgery. Any suggestions for the low fat/sugar lunch suggestions? Im heading down to LA to get it done. They will arrange for me to be driven to and from there as I live in San Jose, Ca. My hubby is going to come with me for support. Hopefully they will give me enought pain meds for the ride home. Heh Woot! I'll be a Hollywood starlet by next summer haha! So who else is getting banded in April? I could use a band-buddy for my journey!
  12. Hey Ladies just wanted to start a post for people who are getting their band in April. Mine is scheduled for April 4th in LA. I'm trying to get it moved closer to my home in San jose ca. They offered to drive me to and from but I don't care where it is I just want it done! Lol So excited!
  13. Did anyone have to travel 6 hours to get banded? The offered to take me to and from there but I'm worried about traveling right after to go back home.
  14. For my stress test it was a fast walk, the point just before running, for about 8 mins. Slow then faster. I had a bunch of wires attached to my chest for monitoring connected to a computer that printed my heart results. I passed with flying colors. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Good luck
  15. Hey ladies anyone else like me at least twice the size of your husband! Love my skinny man. I have fattened him up some since being together but still pertty darn slender. Sometimes I use my weight against him when playing around lol... hopfully soon we will be eqully matched ~_^. He is pretty strong mind you but I have some crazy balance he lacks. Ha!
  16. Those who are overweight may experience a condition called 'acanthosis nigricans', which is characterized by the darkening of the skin in the underarms, groin and neck. So, dark underarms can be caused by any of the above said reasons.
  17. Hey ladies question. Awhile ago I was at my doctors and they said I had darkening of my underarms due to being over weight. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this and after they had the Lap-Band and lost weight if the discoloration went away. Im hoping to hear from insurance next week for approval. Any insite or experience is greatly appreiated. Good luck everyone!
  18. Hi All, FInished my pre req and went to get my results from them this past saturday. They told me I have gallstones. I have never had a problem with them. Doc wanted to take my gallbladder out! It took me a long time to make the decision to get this invasive lapband. I don't want to have my galllbladder out and then wait a nother month to get a date for my surgery. I'm thinking I shouldn't have any gallstone attaks as I will changing my diet completely with the Lap-band. Has anyone not removed it with gallstones and changed their diet and have been doing just fine? I opted out since they said it was optional. Also I found out I have a hiatal hernia. Also never had a problem with that but they said they can fix that while they put the band in so thats good. I'm in the waiting process to get approval from my insurance which should hopefully any day now ^___^. So excited. Thanks for your imput/ answers
  19. Thanks Ladies! @Shirley How long before you could go back to work? Or until you felt ok to do normal things?
  20. Hey Everyone, I'm so excited and scared. I finally made the decision to go through and get the Lap-Band. I went through the pre-req stuff like get and endoscopic exam, blood test, sleep study, ekg, and pysch test. I meet up with my doc on 2/11 to give me the results and hopefully give me the ok and we can submit it to my insurance. Kinda weird the doc found that I had a hiatial hernia but said he could fix it when they do the surgery. Does any one know if healing time is longer because they have to fix this too? I really love this site. It has already answered so many questions I've had. Please tell me your stories healing and exercise. Can I walk on my treadmill as long as I don't run? I like to watch netflix on my tablet while running on the machine. It has this perfect ledge it can lean againt and plugs in to the speakers. lol. ok Thanks again and I'm glad to be here.
  21. Hey All, My name is Diana and I'm new here and i'm going through the process of getting my lap band. Im so excited. I'm finished with the pre req like got an endocopic exam, psych eval, EKG, blood work, and Sleep study. I meet up the the doctor on 2/11 to get the ok to submit it to my insurance. I hope they approve it soon. I've been over weight for a long time and with this oppertunity to become healthy i'm up for the challenge. Here's to new beginnings! My current weight is 260. My goal is to be 150lbs. I'm not worried about the surgery at all. This will be my first time having something done to me. I have managed to avoid the hospital for everything other than basic checkups. Now is the time to break the cycle of being from an over weight family and change my way of living for the future. I saw what my family went through being over weight and I really want to avoid it! I so glad this site is here because it answered so many of my questions. Good luck to you all and I can't wait to be a bandster! Woot!
