  1. Congrats to you soon2. I am 2 wks post op and everyone kept saying it will get easier and they are totally right. Stick with it, walk walk walk and you will be happier and recover faster in less pain. dont forget to blow on your ball thingee if they gave you one to expand your lungs too! Best of luck and looking forward to seeing you progress, welcome aboard!
  2. You are a strong woman G4! You are capable of anything you set your mind to!!! My little guys love their sweets but also have the ability to walk away from half a cookie if they are full (something I never learned or ignored in my life.....) so now I'm trying to make a game of it. I am buying cookies and sweets that kids enjoy in moderation and keeping them on the counter which is something I've never been able to do because I work from home and would eat them all before the kids got home from school. I'm testing myself and my resolve in this. I'm making it a game of the better the cookie the more my "exercise" of self control. Not sure how long it will last but for now I've got my mind wrapped around that. We're all in this together, you are not alone, keep that in mind. I miss seeing you and your bright smilin face!!
  3. Don't worry, I was sleeved same day and only down 9 lbs. I am following the post op diet to a Tee! And I am walking. I started with a low bmi but feel like drinking chicken broth for 2 wks should be more than 9 lbs...
  4. What's cormeal mush? Do you recommend it? Glad to hear about your walk, you keep it up, congrats. I am taking the chewable vitamins from costco, anyone else taking vitamins? I am so sick of cream of everything soup.... I haven't lost anything in almost a week, is that normal to have a stall in week 2????
  5. Oh my sg, How are you doing today? How in the world did you get all those ailments? I'm worried about you keep me posted via pm if you can. Dooter, thanks for the input I hope your right! I forgot that I walked for 45 min on the day that I inhaled so many cal via soup. I feel like I sip soup all day long so today I only sipped 2/3 of my soup and then switched to Water. G4, keep up the great work. Did you spit out the potatoe in the soup? I had mushroom and did same. How did your .25 mike go? You go girl, keep it up, you know damn well what you're doing I'm proud of you!
  6. No more fevers here. I hope you're ok. Check out my thread about fever, there were a couple folks with low grade fevers up to 2 weeks after surgery. I think I read that somewhere else that it's ok. What did gaby say? How are you doing otherwise? I am starving and think I had 900cal in just soups and pudding yesterday, my first full liquid day. I am worried that I don't have much restriction...
  7. I have two words for you honey "quiet resolve". Focus on you right now, get healthy and get in touch with your goals of having fun with those kiddies. You are 110% worth it!! All I know is that I've met you and if anyone is capable and strong enough to handle this treatment physically and mentally - it's you. When you are feeling good about your self you might make other decisions about the role that he plays in your life however not is not the time. Just make sure that you don't carry the heaviness of his statements on your back, you don't need that and I know you and you are strong enough to just brush it off while taking note of it. Folks always say not to make too many big decisions all at one (ie job loss, divorce, death etc I would put WLS right up there as well). Take the good that he has to give and brush off the bad not letting it affect you and you'll be fine. Love ya, Lisa
  8. I'm so glad you have done yoru homework and feel comfortable, this is the most important. Congrats. When are you scheduled? Please keep us all updated!
  9. I wish you the very best on your process. For me, I felt very comfortable paying a bit more as I was very scared going to Mexico and going alone. Now that I am 1 wk post op, I am thrilled that I did because I had some minor complications (atelectasis-due to my anatomy and not due to the surgeon). I thank god for the care that I receveived. I ended up changing my flight and coming home a day late so that I could get extra care. The hospital was so well equipped I was taken care of extremely well. Lastly, I found out there was a 5.3 earthquake while I was there. I had no idea as there was no loss of power or even flicker of lights. I say all this just to ask you to please check to make sure the facility is top notch. I've heard great things about dr. Kelly so Im sure he is great just make sure that the hospital is equipped to take the very best care of your most important asset - YOUR BODY because without that what's a couple thousand dollars. Please keep us all updated! No matter what your choice, I wish you the very best and can't wait to hear how your doing.
  10. Thanks for the tricks with new whey protein. I will try them! So glad everyone is doing well (and fitting into wedding rings)!!!!!! Let's keep checking! I m only 1 wk post op and reading about all this success has me so pumped up. Thanks for sharing and let's keep each other motivated.
  11. Has anyone tried the New Whey Protein 42G of protein shots? it is whey isolate and it is tough to get down. Just wondering if anyone has tried watering it down or anything to make it more appetizing?
  12. OMG 40 lbs in 22 days good for you. Seems like everyone is doing really well!!! Great to hear!!! I am getting sick of broth, jello and popsicles.
  13. Danity, I was scared about the epidural as well. Here is my perspective, I chose to have 2 kids with no epidural or any pain meds that's how I feel about epidural however I've also never had surgery so I was open to it. I had no idea when they were giving it to me. I think the anesthesiologist was the nicest warmest person ever and he will do whatever you want. There was another gal who was there with us (I was there with Smilingal) and she just pretty much slept the day off right after her surgery. Comparatively I (who had the epi) was up walking around and chatty however the 2nd day I was in pain when the epi wore off. The other gal who slept the first day was doing much better on day 2 so basically, it just felt like we switched days. If you get the epi, your pain comes on Day 2 and if you don't you get it Day 1. Make sense?
  14. That's great! Where are the rest of the Feb sleevers out there? are you guys feeling good? any challenges?
  15. Thx Redi. Headaches are gone today (knock on wood) as far as I can tell. I feel better today other than the left over contrast making me run to the little girls room regularly.... How is everyone feeling out there????

  17. I am 5days post op and wondering: 1) does anyone have headaches 2) are you able to get 600 calories in? I am landing around 200-300 calories a day I still feel pretty good but thinking that I will be feeling weak soon.
  18. Thanks again for all of your input! I feel so blessed and hope to be able to support you in the near future!
  19. Thanks hon, nothing quite like care from moma, especially when you're a moma/gramma yourself - it's hard to let others take care of you for a change. I'm so glad for you that you have that support system! I am doing better. No fever anymore however this morning after I took my antibiotic, I got woozy and almost passed out with slurred speech and all. had to lay down for about 30 min to catch my breath again... and now I feel like a new woman! Dr. Campos and Dr. Aceves have been excellent and I called my PCP to give me the clear to go home. How do you feel?
  20. Thanks to everyone for their help and insight. I just had another lead test done and it came back negative I feel much better and look forward to returning home.
  21. Yes, I am blowing on my balls, that is a great idea to call my PCP for direction.
  22. Has anyone experienced this post op? I am debating whether I should agree to leave Mexacali before this has run it's course? I am taking a super sweet antibiotic that makes me feel yucky and breathing into a nebulizer. Can anyone chime in about their experience? I'm a bit scared to leave here and go home.
  23. Your mom is your biggest cheerleader as you enter Onederland! She knows and she is always there for you!
  24. Ok so when they took the x-ray they said that I had "Atelectasis" and that my lungs weren't filling completely (hence the nebulizer and antibiotics). I have been walking and blowing balls every hour so not sure why this happened. I have to tell you that Dr. Aceves made me feel so good when I asked for another leak test, he said "absolutely no problem". He was not dismissive or upset because I asked him. He said "Why don't you stay until you feel better". He spoke openly to me about leaks and while he was very confident in his work, his true desire was to make me better and to go to great lengths to make sure I felt comfrotable before going home. Thank god I came here to Mexacali!
