  1. Where on the east coast are you? Near Melbourne?
  2. I'm amazed at how instant the relief was! She removed 1/2 cc and I'll go back in two weeks for follow up. Had a good dinner and am just a smiling woman tonight. Thanks ever so much for the good wishes :-)
  3. I've been counting down... my adjustment is tomorrow (Wednesday) at two pm. Stick and tired of all the fluids; it reminds me of my post op diet! Thank you :-)
  4. Looking for an American of Irish descent buddy? :-)
  5. I'm risking getting flamed here, but I don't know how much is in my band. It honestly doesn't matter to me. I have a ten cc band and have had 9 fills since my surgery date of 12/12/11. I've gone from 310 to 242 with very few complaints and nice slow, steady weight loss. Happy chick! That being said, I'm now into the "red zone" and need my first unfill. [ Thought about it and requested my medical records about the lap band just so that I'll have a copy in case I change doctors or (someday) need to read them :-) ] Talked to the nurse and she recommended Prevacid and I was able to sleep thru the night last night ~ amazing! Staying on a soft mushies diet until the adjustment.
  6. Top Chef is a good show for me too watch... the portions are small and usually there is at least one ingredient that I don't care for but the people are interesting and passionate about food :-) Sort of like Food Porn lol
  7. Called my surgeons office since I've started with night coughing and heartburn since my last fill. So, it's back to liquids & mushies until Wednesday when I am scheduled to go in for my first unfill. 22 months banded and still happy that I chose the band. I haven't had many adjustments but just the fact that it can be adjusted was deciding factor for me. Curious if others do more seesawing back and forth than my experience?
  8. Good morning! I've been doing well since my banding/plication. Are you local to Melbourne or Merritt Island?
  9. I was banded with stomach plication on 12/22/11 by Dr Fusco. Very satisfied with his Lifeshape program and office personnel. :-)
  10. Lap band and plication patient here... my surgeon's nutritionist says two ounces of protein per meal should be MY minimum. I was worrying about the grams and stressing... much easier now to just weigh it out each meal :-)
  11. I've been going to counseling and also attending an Emotional Eating group since my band surgery. I wish I had done it prior! No longer using food to sedate myself, to "stuff" down my emotions has led to some trying times. But I'm learning how to cope. I hope you can find help too... Jacki
  12. Be sure to get in your protein... that will help
  13. I had the gastric band with plication on 12/12/11. Started at 310; my last weigh-in I was 262. The benefits of both - I'm glad I'm part of this study as well. Did you opt for it? Jacki
  14. I'm using the (Target brand) Up & Up adult gummy multivitamins; two per day (one a.m., one p.m.) and I'm happy with the chewability and taste.
  15. I agree - the gallbladder removal, even though done lap, left me in a lot of pain for two days. The entire first day I spent on the couch. Lap-band was not as painful and I was walking around within a couple of hours and was able to do most things for myself. Hope your surgery brings good things for you!

  17. Perhaps the Protein Shakes are causing the gas in your stomach? Different brands/types use different forms of protein and can have different effects (gas, bloating, etc). Hoping each day is better than the one before! Jacki
  18. Looking for any other of Dr Fusco's patients who have the pleated band! I had Lap-Band surgery with gastric pleating on 12/12/11. Jacki
  19. If you are on the East Coast, check out Dr Mark Fusco at lifeshape.net! Great pre and post care and followup through program is amazing!
  20. I also started at 286 and have my first post op this coming Thursday. Woohoo!!! My surgery date was 12/12/11. Hope each day is better for you, Jacki
  21. I ordered some 3 ounce Protein "shots" which each have 25 protein. I figure no matter how bad something tastes, I can get 3 ounces down. Also, they were not as bad as I had thought they would be... bonus! I had pleated band done on 12/12/11. Hang in there!
