On 12/2/11 I went and got a 1/2 cc fill. I do not tolerate fills well so to only get a 1/2cc is normal for me. I did GREAT and I was sure to follow my dr.s instructions to a -T-!! Liquids only for 2 days and then on to soft foods and then to solids. I felt very good restriction up until Thursday...pms kicked in and I could not even keep my protein shakes down. This is the first I have encountered this because I have been on the depo shot for 12 months up until now. I went for a slight unfill today 1/2cc taken out and I feel like a million bucks. Ate a protein filled lunch worked out with the Jillian michales biggest loser DVD and getting ready to do some house cleaning!
  2. Sorry my iPod has a mind of its own.... Do you only eat 3 meals a day? No "snacks"?
  3. Been banded since jan 24 2011... Worked out for an hour at the gym.... Coffee with sugar free creamer then light yogurt for breakfast worked out then ate a light mozzarella cheese stick then a protien shake then for dinner I had 1/3 of a baked chicken breast iceberg lettuce with green pepper onion and fat free cottage cheese for dressing
  4. HECK YEA I WILL JOIN! I am getting married september 29th 2012. I was banded in january 2011 and so far I have only lost about 50lbs. Congrats to you and I look forward to hearing everyones story. - beck

I agree with brenda. It does sound to me like you and eat quite a bit... but there are also a LOT of factors.... the weather actually affects my band... different foods...if you are eating or drinking with your food....there may be a lot of different things.... my dr says when I throw up I should do liquids only for AT LEAST the rest of the day if not then next day... I actually threw up earlier because i waited to long to eat and didnt chew my food the way i should. I ate chicken broth it was warm and soothed my stomach as well as making me feel full. Good luck
  6. It is normally more painful because the port -well mine anyway- is sewen in to your muscle. I notice still almost a year later that I have some tenderness if I do abdominal exercise.
  7. Thank you. My fiancé and family are VERY supportive as well as my fiancé's family. That is all I need. And you are absolutely right. I think she does have a drinking problem and I really do distance my self from her and the other negative people in my life. Life is too short! Congrats to you and your husband! You two will be so happy!
  8. Hello all.... My mother had gastric bypass in 2004. She was very private about it and I didn't really understand. I had lap band surgery in January and I told EVERYONE... I was so excited and had my mind made up about the surgery so I did not care about anyone's opinions.....BUT I find that now that I have had the surgery I no longer get "hello how are you?" I get... "so how many lbs have you lost" and people expect that you are going to leave 100 lbs over night. I also find some "friends" and co-workers blatantly try to sabotage... They will sit right in front of you and eat bad food and make comments it was very annoying for me.... Also I have one specific friend who has lost weight in a VERY unhealthy way (she drinks wine all day and only eats dinner) I sent her a message yesterday and we talked about my recent struggle with my weight loss and she then sends me a message that says "you need to come over to eat and drink" not we should get together some time "you need to come over to eat and drink" REALLY? I politely responded.... " I would be glad to come enjoy a low carb dinner and sugar free drink with you" .... Good luck with you surgery and I hope whatever decision you make it works out for you!
  9. I did go through this and I was in the same boat... In a panic. I started taking prenatal vitamins and it took care of the problem. Only lasted a month and I by no means had bald spots. Good luck
  10. I had that a few times shortly after my surgery when I started incorporating more solid foods. I used to say it was like the instant stomach flu... I would shake and sweat and feel like I might throw up at the same time I was sitting on the toilet. It has not happened since about 4-5weeks after my surgery. Good luck hope you feel better!
  11. Well it probably won't kill you but it also won't kill you to follow the instructions your dr gave you. I have had my band since 1/24/11. I am a HUGE rule breaker! If you are anything like me and you start breaking the rules now you might have trouble staying on track. I lost weight very quickly at first when I was following the rules then I quit following the rules and actually gained 6lbs back. Just be careful and good luck!
  12. You should not be having problems. You will have problems when your band has slipped, is too tight or you are eating something your band doesn't agree with. It is normal to not have nausea or vomiting. You want things to go down smooth.

Today is day two at the gym! I feel GREAT! Did 30 mins of cardio and 15 mins of strength training. I don't know why I waited so long to get a membership! Also I have been sticking with my liquid requirements since my fill yesterday! we can all do this!

The verdict is in.... Since my last dr visit I have GAINED 6lbs! I have not been making the right food choices and I knew there would be no loss for this visit. I did a lot of sitting around and feeling bad for myself up until wednesday.... Then I decided the only person I'm hurting by not doing the right thing is ME! I have been meticulously counting my calories and I took the plunge and purchased a 1YEAR gym membership.... I am looking forward to what's to come including the holidays, wedding planning and DRESS shopping!
  15. I haven't lost in months. But I also haven done what I was supposed to do. Make sure your not drinking with meals and be sure to eat the right things... Low carb high protien. everyone stalls. You will start losing again. Congrats on your loss already!
  16. Thanks for your post! I threw out all or my ranch dressing, blue cheese and BBQ sauce... I have lost 4lbs in the 2 days that I put myself first and followed the 'rules". It really is about doing the right thins... but in the same sense if I was ALWAYS good about following the "rules" I would not have needed the lap band. Anyways I appreciate your post and you are so right. Congratulations on your weight loss. You are a strong person!

I woke up this morning feeling MUCH better about everything! I'm sipping my coffee and I can't wait to start at the gym and get my fill on Friday! It is time to get back on track. I have been setting my timer while at home so I make sure I am getting enough to drink and to be sure I am not drinking to soon after I eat. I also threw out all the bad things I add to my food such as blue cheese and ranch dressing and BBQ sauce as a fellow LBT member opened my eyes! thank you I know I can do it! I did not go through surgery and losing over 50lbs to go back to where I started! Good luck to everyone and thank you for your support and encouragement!

Thank you! and you are right... I have been making a ton of excuses... I recently got engaged (wedding planning) and also started nursing school... and with the stress of everything it makes it easy to make exuses... Im also TERRIBLE at putting my self first... I just joined a gym (my christmas gift to my self) and called the girls that car pool with me to school and told them if they would like to continue to ride with me that they would have to either go to the gym or find something to do while I was there! Im excited and after reading some of these stories, deleting facebook and putting my christmas decorations up i feel very motivated! Thanks again!

I had surgery in January 2011.... My starting weight was 278lbs and I am down to about 225.... I have been stuck here for MONTHS! I am so embarrassed and I feel terrible... I skipped my last fill because I was to embarrassed to go to the dr with no weight loss and possibly a weight gain of a few lbs. I am very emotional and short with the people I care about. I am currently on the depo shot and I am wondering if this is also hindering my weight loss. I have made the decision to discontinue the depo shot and I also made an appointment for a fill on Friday. I was just wondering if anyone else has delt with this or has any good advice? I am not good about following the rules and I recently started nursing school which I feel is hindering my weight loss even more due to poor meal planning.... I am just reaching out for any advice or words of wisdom anyone may have! Thanks
  21. I had surgery in Jan and I lost a TON of weight at first and now I can ea like crazy... It is normal to eat more until you get more fills... Since I lost weight so fast I am 'behind' on my fills and feel that I can eat quite a bit. Also I have been told if your band slips you WILL know it. You should be ok until you see your doctor. If it makes you feel better it never hurts to call someone at the dr.s and ask
