  1. So excited for you! My surgery is Dec. 14th!!!
  2. Just started my pre op diet today - surgery was pushed back to Dec. 14 because they had over booked before. Wanted to know if any of your doctors say you can add fruit to your shakes? I know mine said only liquids but I was thinking of adding a 1/2 banana just to thicken it up a bit and so I don't feel so weak??? I need to loose 20 pounds in 2 weeks and 5 days (probably impossible) but it has to be 20 since I gained 10 when they told me to loose 10. (I honestly think that was a mental thing... how in the world did I gain 10 when trying to loose???) anyway i know every doctor is different and wanted to know if yours say okay to fruit yet still staying under 800 calories? Thanks in advance!
  3. I'll be starting my all liquid diet right after Thanksgiving. I'm REALLY nervous about it - I tried it before and failed miserably. My dr. office told me not to drink slim fast because it doesn't have enough protein in it so that is why I was starving. So I'll try again... I"m reading your blogs for inspiration Best wishes!
  4. I too was like you - scared from all the negativity I was hearing from friends. I was soooo scared that I started having chest pains (later found out it was all due to anxiety) and they pushed my surgery date back just to make sure my heart was okay. Now I have to wait til Dec. 14 to get my surgery when I could have had it already if I hadn't had been so scared. My sister and brother in law had it about 4 years ago and said they'd do it again - they LOVE their band. If it wasn't for my sister... I'm sure I would have let "others" talk me out of it - but I knew my sister would be upfront with me and she says it's the best thing she could have done for herself. (And she looks GREAT!) I also agree w/ what another person wrote (above)... PRAYER works!!! Best wishes!
  5. Matt and everyone who responded, THANK YOU!! i don't have much support in this at all. Most people I told are completely against it, so it's nice to have found this website/forum. They are going to push my surgery back til Dec. 9, 2011 - i feel so much Peace about that decision. I waiting to hear back from my family doc and I will ask her to check for gall stone/bladdar issues as well - but they think it was anxiety which I do suffer from (in the past) but I wasn't hyperventalating or anything so I didn't think anxiety at first. anyway Matt, I sending you prayers your way and I'm excited for you. I would have been Friday too but I'll be right behind ya maybe you can share w/ me your experience so I can stop being so nervous!!! No, I'm not 400 pounds yet - weigh in today at 280 - but the rate I'm going it won't take long unless I do something about it. I was drinking Slim Fast for my liquid diet and I was STARVING. They told me to get the Atkins shake that has more Protein in it and it suppose to keep me fuller longer, so I will be doing that this week. Again, thank you all for your support! It means a LOT to me!!!
  6. Yes, I do have a hernia. But would that cause chest pains? The doctor knows about the hernia but said he can't fix it at the same time as lap band surgery (unfortunately)
  7. My surgery is scheduled for THIS Friday (11/18) I'm REALLY nervous as I've been having chest pains the past 2 weeks, some tightness in my chest and one day it was really sharp pains. I had my scope done this week so while at the hospital they did EKG and stress test. Claims I'm "normal" but why am I still having chest pains??? Not sure if this is a sign that maybe I shouldn't go through with this or not. I'm scared if I don't, I'll easily be 400 pounds by next year but on the other hand, I want to wake up after surgery!!!
