I had surgery on the 23 and still on clear liquids... After a week the dietian suggested a yogurt drink and protein shake a day. However, she said at this point no blenders due to excess air and comfort after surgery. If you are feeling like your ready to advance your diet that's probably a good sign everything is working as it should. Funny how the recommendations can be so different eh?

So I'm having surgery Jan 23 with Dr. Ortiz,. Does anyone have experiences to share about doctor ortiz or the OCC? Or any tips on items to bring?

Hey everyone Im doing good! Wish they were a bit more forth coming with the pain meds! Last night was a bit rough! Lisa good luck, it will all go well:) Just so you know....its true the nurses really dont speak much english, sometimes I couldnt understand what they wanted and im in the profession. Some things I wish I brought...pain meds from canada, seriously comfort is everything, maybe go to a clinic tonight and explain the situation., a hot waterbottle, the port site is sore, hard candy, and a comfy bra...I dont own a comfy bra because the girls are quite large but the underwire rubs the top small incision. Best of luck Lisa!!! It will be all good... oh and to log on to the internet at OCC is code is tjsurgery...it took a really long time for the nurses to figure out what i was asking for. Keep me updated:)

Hi ! I am from Surrey, BC. I'm scheduled to be banded in Mexico by Dr. Ortiz. I am curious as to where the best place to get my "fills" would be. Is their a doctor locally who would done them or do I drive to Bellingham or Seattle? Suggestions please:)

So I'm here! I had my surgery at about 830 this morning. Its nice here but I'm looking forward to the comfy bed back at the hotel:) I have little pain but I am concerned about the trip home tomorrow. the only really uncomfortable thing was when they gave me some of the meds on the table. It mad me feel super nervous and couldnt talk properly like someone was sitting on my chest, but that lasted all of one minute. Good luck girls:)

I was shocked how cold it is here ! lol it warmed up through the day. The hotel is great, I walked around town...even went to walmart:) Ill update you all post op!

So my husband knows and a few of my close friends. Others in my family know varying degrees of the situation, I tend to leave out the part that I am traveling to mexico to have this done!!! i will tell them and explain the reasons why if need be. It have just felt like it is to stressful to share with everyone. Afterall, I am doing this for me:)

hey I am at the bellingham airport waiting to fly out to san deigo!! Lisa I leave on the 24 so I really will miss you completely:( Iwincoa- at the moment after the pre op diet my BMI is around 36. For after care the OCC has given me a list of doctors that may do fills in the area or «i also have the option of going back to OCC it will cost 100 to cover the transport cost fill is free and on a good day i can get a flight for about 200.

So I am going to have quite a long flight back post -op, anyone have experience with the OCC and pain management? Did you get a prescription? What was the drug? Or did you just go to a pharmacy and buy something OTC??

Im sure he is just stressed. His wife is having surgery and as we all know there are risks. Change is hard for everyone. My husband is definatly stressed but i find the issue is usually someting he just doesnt have enough information on. I'm hoping things calm down after surgery and everything is settled:)

Im just trying to focus on all the reasons to go through with the surgery. Only 2 more days!!!

Glad to hear someone has had a good experience! Lisa! I will let you know how it goes, im leaving sunday morning and im starting to get really nervous. I think its becoming a reality... oh ya im going to another country to have surgery! It will be good, i just need to chill out:) Ill update you as I'm there. I'm pretty sure they have wireless connection available, right?
