  1. Burgandy, I'm in the same boat. I feel your frustration! We can get through this! I am trying hard to keep faith by using this site, the NSV's and the wonderful people on here. There are many people with great experience posting on this site. I am so thankful that they are willing to share their experience, strength and hope with us. Hang in there. I'm right along side you. Big hugs, Lisa
  2. When I first stopped losing weight I was "ok" with it cuz I had been dropping wt fast. It took about a week for me to begin to get frustrated with the stall. Then I read about the 3rd wk stall and I was back feeling ok. I have graduated up to ground meats and cottage cheese so I have been getting twice the protein I was getting and about 200 more calories/day. I thought that might kick wt loss back into gear. Sadly, no. I read what others have posted about being patient and that with this kind of restriction we can't help but lose. However, my stall has been two weeks and I am really frustrated. I did have some concerns about constipation but I have found that has cleared but still no wt loss. It is so clear to me how my mind will "talk me down" and get me in a spin about negative thoughts. This is clearly part of the reason I am obese. My crazy mind has been taking me down the negative road that says "you just paid to have a surgery, go through pain, extreme fatigue and all you're gonna get is a 24 pound loss". I have to work hard to stop those thoughts and turn them into positive ones. I am aware that I would like to eat those negative feelings away. I just can't because of the restriction and the restriction reminds me that I will lose weight. Rarely, in my past, was I ever aware that I was looking to eating as a way to numb negative feelings. I knew I did, the evidence was there but I just didn't "see" it when it was happening. Awakening to this is a positive thing. It doesn't change my frustration with the stall but it does give me the hope I need at this time.
  3. I went to Mexcali Nov 2nd and had my vsg by Dr Almanza. I felt so weird in San Diego too. I just couldn't believe it was real. That the day had finally come. Everything goes smoothly. They know what they are doing and you will feel like a part of their family almost instantly. Welcome to the journey! Big hugs!
  4. Rock on!! I think it's great that you've checked yourself out. I've only lost 24lbs and I was checking out my flatter tummy in the mirror this weekend. My scrubs are much more baggy too. Especially in the tush area. I'm loving it! Can't wait until I can get into what I call "my cute scrubs". After I gained too much weight to wear them, I put them in a box and vowed that some day I will wear them again. I think you BF% tracking is awesome. I think I will do something similar. I'm an athlete DEEP down inside. I still play on a weekly volleyball league and love sports. I wouldn't want to lose muscle mass. I need those muscles to kick butt in vball! LOL! Plus I would like to have a femine but athletic figure. You're doing a great job. Keep it up!
  5. I hear ya!! I'm 20 days postop and have been stalled for a week now. At first I didn't care but over the last two days it has started to frustrate me. However, I am now able to take in well-chewed meat so I think I will be able to get in enough protein and calories. I do believe that our bodies don't know what to do with the drastic reduction in calories and puts everything on hold until it figures out what to do. I have hope that I will start losing once my body gets the message that more calories/protein/nutrients are coming in. In the meantime, I am getting really frustrated. It is so weird cuz I was absolutely fine with it for the first days of the stall but now...not so much. I do find that I have a shorter temper and I am more emotional, at times, since my surgery. Never realized how sensative I am to blood sugar levels. Well at least I think that's what its from. Anyways, have faith my friend we WILL push through this stall....I just know it!
  6. I am so glad to have all of your support! Thank you. Over the weekend I decided to tried ground meats and chew them REALLY good. SUCCESS!! I can eat about 2 oz of meat so that helps with Protein intake. I might actually get all my protein in today!! I'm using one your suggestions...starting the day with a shake(11g proteins). Then I'm eating a meat at my next meal(13g). Sipping Herbalife Beverage Drink mix throughout the day(15g protein). With other meat protein based meals. My fatigue is so bad that I feel intense urgency to figure out how to work in the protein/calories each day. I hate feeling so wiped out! I may need to take a day or two off of work just to rest up. I'm one of those people who don't miss much work. I had surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work on that Monday. So maybe I just haven't given my body enough time to heal. Us nurses sometimes are the most non compliant patients. LOL
  7. Love your list!!! I'm 16 days post op and I can relate to us thinking we know "how" to sip etc. I have realized that when I'm not crazy hungry all the time, I choose healthier things to eat because they taste good. Like two days ago I tried canned peaches with cottage cheese for the first time in my life AND it was goood! lol! At my office someone brought in a cake and I thought, my peaches taste better than cake and I really meant it. WEIRD!! My biggest struggle right now is getting enough protein and fluids. Therefore I continue to be exhausted all day, every day. Ooofta! Thanks for your post! Loved it!
  8. I'm a nurse and my first question would be "Do you still have your gall bladder?". If you do, you may be having biliary colic which may indicate gall bladder stones. It's common for gall bladder problems to follow dramatic weight loss. No matter what, I strongly urge you to see your doctor today! Sure it could be a virus but even if it's just that, you NEED to replace fluids. It's hard enough for us "sleevers" to get enough fluids in. We can't spare ANY to diarrhea or sweating. Big hugs, Lisa
  9. I agree. I think that's fine as long as you are getting your nutrition. Our bodies do amazing things. Sometimes we like it and sometimes we don't. LOL
  10. That is awesome! I don't think that's TMI but I am a nurse so I've heard and have seen almost everything. I'm happy for you and your SO.
  11. Thanks ladies for your suggestions and support! bikerchick, I'm a biker too, I can't wait to ride next summer with a new riding jacket. Previously, I couldn't find one that was stylish and fit my wide midsection. But next year.....I will have all the choices in the world. These are the things I try to focus on when I start to get feeling low about having no energy right now. I contacted my nurse from MX and she said I really need to get at least 70g protein every day and have my labs checked by my local doctor. However, I am in total agreement...this is the most fatigue I have ever felt! Stay in touch!
  12. Hello friends, I am 14 days post op and extremely tired. Some people say it's just my body responding to anesthesia/surgery/etc and some blame it on not enough protein. I do have a h*ck of a time getting protein in. I spent five days preop drinking protein shakes and now 14 days postop. I have been eating other stuff too. Like soup broths, SF jello, SF freezies and cream soups. Quite frankly I am sick of protein shakes. I used to like them but now....blech...they even leave a funky taste in my mouth. I'm lucky if I can get one in during the day. Perhaps I've had some tastebud changes due to ketosis or whatever. I have lost, what I think is, significant weight. 23lbs. Although I haven't lost in two days...but I'm not worried about that. I am very worried and bothered by not having energy and want to know everyone's opinion on this situation. Is this fatigue from my body healing, or not enough protein or both?
  13. I had my surgery yesterday. I slept like crap last night because the pain medicine was not sufficient. Plus they cleaned the floor during the night and the cleanser gave me a bad headache. Today I feel a little better. I've taken in tiny sips of water and had about a half of a freezy three times. I still have a drain in my abdomen but it's not bothersome. The pain is still not under control. I would suggest bringing your own liquid pain medication from your own doctor. The pain is keeping me from moving like I should. They give Toradol here and that's ALL. I suppose one could bring liquid tylenol but it may be hard to get it all down. Most adult liquid tylenols require you take a couple table spoons for an effective dose. Right now all I can take in is a tiny sip every 1-2 minutes. It would likely take 10 min to get all that tylenol in but it would help. I will post again for you later. I need to go walk around some more to move the gas through. You will have lots of gas pressure in your abdomen, chest and instestines. Walking does help move it through. Keep me posted on your journey. Take care.
  14. This is not related to the topic but I didn't know where to ask about it. Where/how do I get that cute weightloss tracker that is listed on your posts? I have vsg on Wednesday and i'd like to track my loss that way. I have already lost 6 lbs on the preop liquid diet. Thanks for ur help
  15. I took the before pics but can't bring myself to post them. Maybe later....
  16. I'm excited and nervous for my surgery. I can't wait for my back to start feeling better when there's less weight to carry. My discs are gonna be so happy! Lol. I look forward to being able to go sliding with my kids, ice skating, biking and more. I'm tired of watching from the sidelines cuz I'm too out of breath or may hurt my back. I have lots of support. My husband and friends are here for me. I am so lucky. I look forward to making friends on here on being supportive to others. My surgery will be done in Mexico cuz insurance companies don't take in to account spinal disc bulging as sufficient reason to pay. I can tell you the daily pain and other problems my weight has caused seem plenty sufficient to me. I plan to take before and after pics then post them. I have enjoyed seeing other peoples pics so I should what's right and give back. Ohhhh they will be hideous but oh well. Well good luck sleevers and take care.
