  1. All I can say is OMGoodness. You rock! Congratulations :0)
  2. Back in 96'-98' I was sick a lot. I spent an entire year with bronchitis. It was constant fevers, coughing, antibiotics and steroids. I ended up in the hospital with a diagnosis of COPD. I ended up losing 75lbs. In 98', I started having chest pains. After a trip to the ER, I was diagnosed with GERD. In July of 98', I had an emergency gallbladder removal. That had been the problem the whole time. The gallbladder was acting up causing the reflux. The acid was then refluxing into the bronchial tubes and lungs causing bronchitis and pneumonia. After the gallbladder was remover all problems resolved. A couple of years ago, I started having chest pains and coughing again. I am back on the acid meds and it has resolved once again. I am a testimonial to the power of the effects of too much acid!! Acid reducers work wonders. I take a strong one called Dexilant.
  3. You look like a beautiful red rose bud. I can see you blooming with your new found joy. Congrats! :0)
  4. This is one thing I have truly worried about. I do not cut my hair because of religious convictions. It has been 25 years since the last time it was cut and currently it reaches almost to the bends of my knees. Although I have not had my surgery yet, I might be able to help you out though. Because of injuries to my arms and shoulders, I got to the point that I was no longer able to hold my arms up long enough to put my hair up in the fancy hair styles and curls that I used to. A friend turned me on to Paula Young. I buy clip-ons (of course they sell wigs [Human and synthetic]) from them and people have a fit over my hair all the time. It is not uncommon at all for me to have a perfect stranger stop me just so they can look at my hair. It matches so well, they never even figure out part of it is not even mine. You might want to check them out. They are very reasonable and you can shop online or by catalogue. Good luck, I hope it gets better for you soon.
  5. That is so wonderful! I wear a ladies 3x. I just don't know what I will do if I am able to fit in a large by next winter. Not even sure that I would want to hide myself under a coat with that kind of an accomplishment! It doesn't get that cold in Mississippi..lol :0)
  6. I was laughing about this just last night. My husband and I went to the big "line out" bash for the new Mississippi Toyota plant. It was a very nice event and he introduced me to so many people that I couldn't even keep up. After we got off to ourselves I started giggling and told him, "at Christmas time next year they will think you are divorced." Stunned he said, "why!" Still laughing I told him,"because no one will recognize that new skinny woman on your arm." :0) I am going to love every minute of it!
  7. Girl, I feel the same way. It is all I can think about. I was scheduled for 12/6 but the insurance still has not got my approval through, so I lost my date. It has been moved to 2/14/12. That just gives me that many more weeks to obsess and to drive my family nuts. But this is a really big deal to me. I feel like it is my new lease on life and that I am being given a second chance to do things I never had the opportunity to do before because of my health and weight. I am VERY excited to say the least.
  8. My pcp was confused about what he was supposed to do too. I'm still not sure we did it right. I am still waiting on my approval. It was submitted on the 26th of last month and is still out. I have already lost my surgery date because they are taking so long. If it needs more work, hopefully we can get it all in this time. I have rescheduled for Feb. 14th, 2012.
  9. Dr. Oz says men lose 1" of unhum for each 30 lbs of excess fat they carry. He also reverses it and says lose 30lbs., gain an inch. My husband and I have both gained 55 lbs. Since we have been married. I promise I can tell the difference. I can't wait to reverse my weight, I hope he will choose to also. It will be a lot more fun.
  10. Aww, girls. Y'all are a bunch of sweeties! Thanks for the encouragement. I guess this gives me a little extra time to get my house in order and tackle one of my other problems...hoarding. Lol :0DD Lol
  11. Oh well everyone, the insurance drug it's feet until I lost my surgery date. I am still waiting on my approval so the doctor's office moved my date to Feb. 14, 2012. Best wishes to all you December sleevers!
  12. I am in big trouble! I weigh over 300 # and freeze now. I have Raynaud's disease. This is a disorder that causes the hands, feet, nose, ears and in some cases breasts to turn blue and get very cold (google it). In most cases it is not dangerous, but it can be painful. I can't pick up ice or snow with my hands without terrible nerve pain. My hubbie makes me get out of the bed and put on socks and sometimes gloves because I am so cold that he can't stand for me to touch him. Oh well..no new cutsie night clothes for me. He'll have me dressed in coveralls...lol.
  13. The insurance coordinator/surgery schedualer from my doctor's office just called me. She said my surgery would have to be moved from Dec. 6 to some time after the first of the year because the approval still had not came through. She said every slot from today through the first part of January was already filled with pre-approved clients. I was actually relieved. I have been stressed to tears for the last two days trying to get an answer out of the insurance. I knew I only had 3 weeks left until my date and I still had another Dr. Appt., a class, and my liquid diet; not to mention my fees which are $400 and non-refundable! When I told her it was ok, she was more relieved than I was. She said that she had been dreading it all morning because most people either cry or bite her head off. We looked the calendar over and decided on Feburary 14 for my surgery date. What a fitting day! Each year I can have my own personal Valentine-I-Love-My-New-Life-Surgiversary celebration. It is going to cost me a bit more, because I will have to pay my 2012 insurance deductible. But any who, I am going forward. It will just be a few extra weeks..:0P
  14. Yay congrats! Feel better soon :0)
  15. I heard someone say one time, " there is a skinny woman on the inside of me screaming to get out. I gave her a cookie to shut her up." Sometimes I think that is me. When the anxiety starts to bubble over, I cork it with a cookie. I guess I'm going to have to learn to cry a whole lot more or get to be like a duck and just let the "water" roll off my back :0)
  16. It would be in mine too! We have four boys ages 4, 5, 9, 10. We have our hands full. If we had any more we would have to buy a bus...and stock in a grocery store ..lol :0)
  17. Yay for you! I am so proud. My insurance is dragging their feet. I am so afraid they are going to deny me for some reason. I meet all of their requirements, but may have missed jumping through one of their loops. My BMI is 49.8, so I am way over their 40% + I have co-morbidities too. My medical bills have been $30,000 in the last 5 months. You would think they would thank me for having it done, but no. They want to jerk me around and keep my nerves torn up and make me cry. I just want to scream!
  18. I have been wondering about this. I had my tubes tied 4 years ago (the day after my last child was born). When a person loses weight everything loosens up; your clothes, your shoes, your jewelry. Does knots tied in ones internal organs? It would stand to reason that they would shrink along with everything else. I know for a fact, some doctors will not do a tubal immediately after birth because they say after the swelling from the pregnancy goes down, the knot will be too loose. Long story short, has anyone here gotten pregnant with their tubes tied after having the sleeve?
  19. Many of us are admitted emotional eaters, myself included; but what happens to us when we lose that outlet. What do we do now? All of us eat for different reasons; for some it is happiness, others depression, still others boredom. I find myself eating to try to calm myself down when I am upset. It can be mad upset or anxious upset; they both effect me similarly. I did it today. The Civitans were selling their annual fruit cakes and I bought one. I ate a big hunk of it (eww) and was not even hungry. I was just upset and wanting to cry because the insurance company is jerking me around, so I stuffed in some food to try to soak up my tears,. So, to you fellow emotional eaters that are post sleeve; what are some ways you can help your fellow travelers following in your footsteps. How are you conquering the emotional eating demon?
  20. Go online and look up your local cheap cycle or free cycle. Go to yahoo groups and try looking by city name. We buy/sell things like this all the time. It is very economical and you can shop from home :0)
  21. Liliana, I like the idea of the non flavored mixed with your own drink mixes. I believe I may try that. I kind of makes it like an icee doesn't it?
  22. Go on a cruise with my hubbie for our 15th anniversary and wear beautiful evening wear (small of course) and high heels and knock his socks off!
  23. Aww, I wish I could help you. That is a long trip! I have not had mine done yet; I am still 3 weeks out. I have heard of soy protein, but don't know if it will work. Good luck. Maybe you can find something.
  24. Hey girls. If nothing happens, I'll be sleeved in Tupelo by dr. Terry Pinson at NMMC on Dec. 6. I live in Booneville, just south of Corinth.
