  1. Oh I can definitely answer that with NO! I lost 55 pounds on Atkins a few years ago and I rocked it! but then I got married, had two kids and now I am up 20 pounds more than when I started. I need help. I know I do.
  2. But this is what I don't get. I totally understand the lifestyle change I really do. I am totally ok with this. However, I don't get how just eating less won't work. If I ate 1000 calories a day of Twix only I would lose weight. I definitely wouldn't be healthy and wouldnt do that, but I would lose weight. So how does the band not just work on it's own by making you eat less. I am not talking about the sliding foods though. I get how those go right through and you are never really full. But what about whole foods? I guess I just hoped and from what they've been telling me for 8 months is that I just would eat way less than I used it.
  3. I guess I thought it would be more about eating in moderation the way we should anyway and less about "what you eat." I hope that makes sense. I believe I have failed at diets because I always want what I can't have. I thought with the band, knowing I could have it would make me want it less. I will go years without a certain food and then when I can't have it, I want it. From what they told me with the band, I could have whatever, but I should make good choices and have healthy foods instead and that the band would make me fuller faster and longer. I thought it was a tool to help me not overeat.
  4. I had my gallbladder out a couple of years ago and went in with a cough. It wasn't a big deal to them and they did the surgery.
  5. I thought I knew everything I was getting into until I came to this site (no offense.) I didn't think that after surgery, having a band would be so much "work." What I mean by that is all the dieting. I don't get why anyone here ever got a band unless I don't understand. Most of what everyone says is they still watch what they eat, exercise, etc. Why get the band at all? Why not just diet like normal? What's the point of the band. I've been through my 6 months waiting with monthly visits to the physical therapist, nutritionist and program coordinator and they haven't prepared me for what I've read here. My surgery is in less than two weeks and now I am scared. I knew I would need to change my life, but honestly I just thought that mean't less eating. Isnt' that the point of the band? If the band doesn't help you from overeating, what's the purpose of this over just doing say Atkins or Weight Watchers? I know it's a tool. Maybe I am just freaking out. I think I was expecting to eat whatever I wanted (with exception of things that will get stuck) but just eating like a 1/4 of what I used to. My problem has always been overeating. I thought the band would help with that. I'm freaking out now.
  6. I can do the no carbs/low cal, I just hate the monotony. I guess I probably am following it, but broth wasn't on the list, but it's carb free/low cal/low fat. Shouldn't that be sufficient? I don't mind following a regime, I will have to after the surgery, I just hate the same thing OVER AND OVER again
  7. I am on this stupid pre-op and I don't get it. It's basically low carb/low fat. Can I just do my own thing as long as I lose weight? I see lots of people doing just low card. Can't I just do that? I am not trying to be difficult, but it's hard with the VERY boring menu choices. I ended up making egg drop soup this morning for breakfast instead of the fruit and protein.
  8. I could have written your post. I have arranged for my cousin to come and stay here with me everyday. She homeschools so she's just going to do her stuff here. I just need some help with picking the kiddos up and being more active with them. I hope you can find someone like that!
  9. They told me no carbs whosoever except from a little fruit in the morning. I feel like I am doing Atkins, but with far less choices! I wish I could just do atkins!
  10. Protein shakes aren't in my pre-opp diet. I wish they were! I even ordered some special kind thinking they would be. But I can use them after.
  11. Are you as scared of the diet as me? I am terrified. I am so addicted to food it's ridiculous.
  12. I am a BIG cooker (no pun intended.) I think I am going to get major bored with this pre-op diet. Any ideas to spice it up, but not add cards or fats? It's pretty strict, but I can add spices and such. I am also at a loss for Breakfast. I hate eggs so I don't know what do to.
  13. Ok this makes me feel better. I am excited to lose weight before but just scared it won't shrink. I am psyching myself out!
  14. OK I know this may be a dumb question, but I start my liver shrinking diet on Sunday and am so scared my liver won't shrink. My doctor said if he gets in there and it's not, he will sew me up and send me home! That's my biggest fear!
  15. That's great to hear! I keep hearing about people not losing weight and such. That scares me the most. I don't want to go through all this and not change ya know? I obviously have trouble with will power or I wouldn't be in this boat. I hope the band helps.
  16. Hello! I am new here. I get my band on Oct 28th! Sooooo nervous and scared. I've done all the research and still have no idea what I am getting myself into!
  17. hi everyone! I am new here. I just got my final approval from insurance today and scheduled my surgery for October 28th. I am so nervous, excited and scared. I am scared because I have read so many horror stories of it not working. Anyway, just wanted to say hi!
