I am glad this was posted as a thread. I look at the threads more than the articles. This has great information, especially Step 2. Thank you Helen!

Dana, thanks for sharing! I can't wait to be in shorts and a tank top again and enjoy going outside and doing things! Congratulations and again thanks for sharing your story. Your story makes me realize that the last year getting ready for my surgery has all been worth it.
    Thank you!!

IL_MissKitty got a reaction from my3sons75 in Are You Going To Tell Anyone About Your Surgery???
I don't plan on telling anyone. Currently only my husband knows of my June 13th surgery. I will probably end up telling my son and daughter-in-law but they will be sworn to secrecy. Why? I don't want the diet police talking behind my back if I eat something that they think I shouldn't. I am taking vacation for my surgery so no one at my work will know. It's not like I am embarrassed, but we all know there are those out there that will tempt us to eat things we shouldn't. But if I can say I am cutting back, eating the right foods, and exercising more without using the word DIET, they will not make such a big of it. Does this make sense?
    Good Luck with your surgery!

I feel it's your own personal choice. I'm choosing not to tell because even though the public can see I am overweight what goes through my mind is private. I'm the type of person to do things in my own. I have enrolled in karate class that starts a month after my surgery which is may22nd. I had brought it up to one of my friends that I might do it and she shunned it. I started going to the gym and I believe my friends are sabotaging me. They always want to go out to eat n drink. I have turned them down quite a few times.

IL_MissKitty reacted to Sal58 in Week 1 Post Op.
Wow, week one is now done. In this week I feel as if I have climbed a mountain. I have gone from excitement to fear, fear to banding, banding to my new way of life. In one week I have managed to go from walking a few steps to walking now up to one mile (today). This first mile kicked my butt, but I did it. Tummy doesn't hurt at all, just tugs a bit but gas is fighting its way out of my shoulders and escaping quite easily from every other exit. I still have no appetite even though food smells good, the thought of eating it just isn't there yet. I am struggling to get in my soup and shakes, one because I am not hungry and two, when I do try and sip them it is just uncomfortable. It seems to take me forever to get down 4 tsps of liquid. Water doesn't seem to be such an issue but I find myself trying to chew that as well. Bring on week 2……my goal for this week is to continue to obey the rules and do my mile walk in a little less time. Also I have lost 10 pounds. How is everyone else doing?

Good Luck Amanda! How exciting to get one step closer to your surgery! I am not scheduled until June, so I will be looking forward to hearing about your journey. I'm sure you will make it through your liquid stage just fine :-)
