    Treadmills for a obese beginner!!!

    i started out about 15 mins at a pace that was comfotable for me my trainer always reminds me to take in a breath through your nose and exhale out your mouth slowly this helps build up your oxegen levels in your body.never start out fast take what i call is a slow walk.and do this 3 times a week and slowly build up to what you can tolerate.if you can only do 5 min great just don't get in no hurry.make sure you are not putting any encline on the tredmill walk at level grade.as i said if you feel you need to stop do so.you have plenty of time to work your way up.i my self started slowly and i started at 311 i was weighed today i weighed 258 pounds.i walk on the tred mill 5 miles at 4.5 miles per hour today i done the 5 miles in 68 mins.it took me 2 months to build up to this.so like i said take your time.it will come in time.hang in there were all in this to help each other wish you best of luck.As my daughters favorite wrestler says.NEVER GIVE UP BY JON CENA!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. well i am only down 4 pounds since last fill seems like it should be more.doc said being i was going to the gym 3 days a week.that i am gaining muscle.but to tell you the truth i have 3 times more energy than i had before.my daughters say i am tireing them out wow never thought i hear that coming from them lol.but i love it!!!

    Help Me With Mushies

    i found that if you cut up chicken into really small bites and i mean small no bigger than your pinky finger nail.you will find it easier to chew up and make sure you put your fork down between bites.if you want to find some really tender chicken.my daughter works at the walmart deli.she brings me home one of there rotisery chickens.it is so tender it almost melts in your mouth.i usally debone it and package it up and eat it over the course of a week.when i want some chicken i just warm it up.having it in small portions make sure i only eat a small amount.try it you will love it.

    eating soup

    my doctor said to avoid liquids like Soup as soup will pass through your band and you will eat more than you should because you won't feel full.he advised me to stay clear of watery foods.
  5. i know the feeling when i went from a 44 down to as of rt now 38/40 depends on maker of jeans.this since aug 8 2011.today i think i ate somthing not agreeing with me.been sick and stomach ach all nite last nite.and today.had my fill last week but don't think it is that.and when i eat somthing lots of stomach noises.was wondering if anybody had this happen.after a fill.

  7. i was banded sept 1 2011 seen doc on 8 of august started then on pre opt diet by sept 6. five days after my surgery i had lost a total of 24 pounds.had first fill sept 28 then just had second fill last week.to date i have lost total 50 pounds yea for me lol.i go to gym 3 days a week for an hour each day.have personal therapist and she works my a-- off you can look me up on face book be great to arrange our own support group.gary benavides i am in valdosta georgia.
  8. don't stop your pre op diet.the diet is supposed to help shrink your liver.if your liver is swelled to much doc might send you home.how they explained it to me is,if your liver is swollen it would almost be impossible to move it out of the way so he can put the lap band in.example take a big piece of Jello try to hold it in your hand it will fall apart.same goes with your liver.if it is to big and he attemps to move it it will tear it.then you are looking now to get a liver transplant.not trying to scare you but my doc said before he starts his surgery he makes one small hole inserts a camera and checks how big the liver is.and that will tell if you followed the pre opt diet.if your liver is to big home you will go.so it is very important you follow the diet.now for your next question you have made your mind up you are having the band put in well as for your family if they don't want to stand behind you and praise your decsion for a better life and health.tell them you are doing this for you not them.i have been banded 2 months and i am doing well with it you just have to put it in your mind you are going to do this and your going to make it work.i think one thing your family might be jealous because your going to be skinny and well you fill in the blanks.if this is what you want for you go for it.its not a bad operation.if i can tollerate it anybody can good luck any support or question you have about the surgery or after surgery i will be glad to help just drop a line and i see what i can do to ease your fears.

    Feeling Frustrated

    Hey shelley try taking only 15 mins to eat your food.after 15 min if you feel you are full stop eating and take what is left of your food and throw it away.that way you are not tempted to go back and finish it.one thing i have been told it's not the amount of calories that you need to count.it's mostlt the carbs you eat.to many carbs will cause you to either gain weight or maintain weight.have three meals a day concentrate mostly on proteins but also include a vegetable.if you arre like me i mostly want to snack usally at night.when i do i have a sugar free jello or somtimes a cheese stick.and if i have them my doc suggested slim jim beef sticks as a snack because it is protein.but do not cosume all these at once i was just giving you some suggestions as to what you can eat for a snack.that has no carbs in it.i had my band put in sept 1 2011 i started seeing my doc august 8 2011.since then i have lost as of today which i had my second fill and was weighed in i have lost a total of 40 pounds.remember to read all food lables and try to stay under 30 none vegetable carbs.vegetable carbs when portioned right don't have to be counted.use the 30 carbs a day for things like ketchup,bbq sauce,and mayo.try this bet yoyu will see some results with in a week.rt now i have gained muscle mas back as i go to the gym 3 days a week and spend at least 1 hour working out.so don't give up if you have the will there is always a way hope you the best of luck and never give up..

    A note about DERMABOND

    I had the dermabond used on me.all my small cuts healed just fine.but the larger cut he made in order to insert the band through,got infected.he stiched me up on the inside layer and used dermabond to close outer layer.2 after surgery big cut opened up dermabond came loose and the cut got infected.had to take antibiotics for 2 weeks the pills were so big i had to crush them in order for them to go down yuck very bad tasting pills.well been banded 1 month 2 weeks and still have a small hole in my stomach.it seems like it is healing so slow.have to keep it cleaned and dressed 3 times a day.its not sore or any thing infection is gone just not healing as fast as i would like for it to.has anybody else had this happen.

DON'T GIVE UP.I WAS ON BP PILLS 15 YEARS AND AS SOON AS I LOST RT NOW 45 POUNDS I HAD TO STOP MY BP PILLS.MY STARTING WEIGHT WAS 311.WHEN I FIRST SAW DR IN AUGUST I WAS AT 294.SEPT 1 HAD BAND PUT IN.SEEN DR SEPT 6 FOR FOLLOW UP AFTER SURGERY HE WEIGHED ME AND FROM AUGUST TO SEPT 6 I LOST24 POUNDS.ALSO I NO LONGER TAKE MEDS FOR DIABETIES SUGARS DROPPED.SO AS OF NOW I ONLY TAKE 1 PILL A DAY FOR COLESTEROL DOC SAID AS A PREVENTIVE BUT AS MORE WEIGHT COMES OFF HE SAID HE IS GOING TO STOP IT ALSO SO NEVER GIVE UP AND DON'T LET ANYONE MAKE YOU GIVE UP HOPE I AM PROOF IT CAN HAPPEN HANG IN THERE.

    Weight loss

    I lost 24 pounds i had band put in sept 1 2011.i first saw my doctor august 5 2011.had first follow up visit sept 6.doc said i lost more than his other patients he said normally you lose 10-15 pounds.i not complainig.i started this venture at 311 i had my first fill last week.i had actually gained a pound but doc said it was water.i have lost 4 pounds in one week so i am back on track.i weighed this morning and i was 267.one thing i can say that i found is that those carbs you be sneaking in are really bad for you.i am now following my diet to the T.since i lost this weight i am no longer on any meds as of now.doc has stopped all diabetic meds and blood pressure meds. yea for me and i have more energy.tomorrow i am going to a concert with my daughters going to see luke bryant last year i didn't because i didn't think i could make the long walk to the concert area which is a long ways from the entrance but i know i can make it now.won tickets and free limo ride to the concert.

    Dieting Help!

    one thing i found out was,somtimes we cheat on our carbs.if you would write down all the carbs you eat in a day for a week add them up at the end of the week,now you have to be honest with yourself and you will find you have been eating more carbs than you think.i have 2 scrabled eggs with cheese salt and pepper to taste for breakfast,or sometimes i have a adtkins shake for breakfast.chocolate taste best to me.do not drink the shake and eat to use as meal replacer.for lunch sometimes i have tuna or chickes salad over shredded lettuce.and for supper i have either chicken or steak cooked tender so all you have to do is use a fork to cut it up.also i have a small helping of some kind of vegetables.i eat till i feel a little pressure around my breast bone i stop rt there.i am new to this so some of what i said maybe wrong but it works for me.I have lost 30 pounds since first of august had my band put in sept 1 2011.i had my first fill sept 26.my nutrishinist had to put me back on track about cutting out my carbs.I get to have 30 grams of non vegetable carbs a day. i for got to tell you vegetable carbs we don't count.hope any of this helps you..
