  1. How long did you have to wait for insurance to approve your surgery after your surgeon submitted your paperwork? I have Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO of Mass. I'm so nervous!!!
  2. Thats the best surgery date ever!!! haha Hopefully I will be 2 weeks behind you - Were submitting in a couple of weeks!
  3. Does anyone know the percentage of sleevers that develop a leak? I just did some reading in these forums and they scared the daylights out of me!!!! My surgeon has never had a leak - I am hoping I do not get one either! Lack of long term data makes me nervous!
  4. My seminar was Oct 10th and my Surgeon Consult was Oct 26th - I am still atleast a month out and you know what? The time flies!!!!! Hopefully next week will be my last Nutritionist meeting, but I havent really lost weight like she wanted so we will see how that goes!! The holidays were rough! Good luck to you both on your journeys.....I cant wait to be on the losers bench!
  5. I told my family and friends when I Decided to do the surgery. Even before any of my preop appointments. I got every reaction in the book and it took a while to gain the support of some pretty important people in my life. Now everyone knows, and as I get closer to submitting to insurance (this month) I am getting more nervous - but I don't have to worry about hiding anything and I have the support I need. Being honest can be hard but it pays off in the long run!
  6. Hi everyone! I hope you all had a nice holiday:) I am starting my diet for the nutritionist this week and she asked that I start experimenting with some of the mushy foods so that they won't be such a shock to me when i have to eat them. She suggested I try pureeing some chicken - the idea of that makes me sick!!!!! Please tell me what your favorite mushy foods were! I would really appreciate the feedback! I am hoping this will be my last appointment with her so we can submit to insurance and get the ball rolling!!
  7. I have my dietician appointment tomorrow. I have no idea what to expect.....anyone care to share with me? Thanks!
  8. Thanks so much for the offer I have found something to wear! Happy holidays!
  9. I just finished my psych eval. I passed and the doctor is also going to take me on as her patient after surgery! I love therapy! Everyday my life is about family, work, and most of all - my twin 5 year olds. To have a solid hour once a week that is about only ME is great. I can't wait! I've done the whole BS a therapist gig in my past (forced to see a therapist young after my mother passed away) and I know for a fact that doesn't help. We all got to our weights for a reason - we all have a food addiction or eating disorder. We have all overeatten and been depressed about it. You are not alone in this struggle but don't for a minute think having surgery will "fix" your bulimia. You need to put the work in. And we will all be here to support you! Good luck
  10. I deffinitely anticipated being sad about having my "last" thanksgiving. It wasnt at all what I thought it would be - at one point I looked at my plate and wished I was post-op and Eatting what my 5 year old was Eatting! I didn't finish what I put on my plate - which was enough to feed a family of 4 sleevers lol
  11. You look amazing! I can't wait to experience the same thing next year!
  12. I'm having a similar issue. My best friend of 16 years needs everything to be about herself. It's a constant need for me to support her. I told her I can't do it anymore and I need her to support me as well. I figured that's a good move since I'm trying to help myself and I will need her. She was offended and said that we might as well not be friends. How does that even work???? I think the big thing is figuring out what roles your friend plays - are they healthy ones? I don't think mine are. I have no idea what's going to happen with her and I but I can't put her first and I won't feel guilty about it! Good luck - sorry for rambling here lol
  13. I'm so glad I posted something! I actually thought twice about doing it because I hate to sound like I'm complaining but I'm not alone!!! I've gained weight over the past few months. food funerals? I'm the director. I need to chill out and realize I will eat everything again - in moderation of course! I've never looked bigger in pictures....and I hate even looking at them as well!!!! I had to shop on Saturday for an outfit for a holiday party my work has every year. I got black pants - and the all mighty shirt with the big band at the bottom. I'm not sure I would have survived dressing in the past few years without the invention of the band on shirts - cant wait to be rid of them!!!!! I scheduled a few more appointments today - and it looks like I won't have surgery until February - but I'm still hoping for January!! Thanks for the support!
  14. It's so good to know I'm not alone! I'm here to chat if you ever need to!!
  15. My surgeon is Dr. Macaron. His office is in Middlebury, and he operates out of St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. Hoping to have surgery in January!!!
  16. Yesterday was my nephews first birthday. It was a fantastic party and he was the cutest thing I've ever seen. I just wish I had been in a different frame of mind while being there. Being pre-op, I hate buying new clothes, nothing is fitting right, and no matter how hard I try to look nice I always hate the end result. It is as if my brain has already had the surgery and is expecting results! I have never felt fatter - and more aware of my size than I am right now. It is a completely miserable experience! My process is moving along as a nice pace - and I hope to have surgery in January. Why does that seem like light years away?
  17. I am in the middle of getting my appointments done (psych eval, nutristion, and pulmonologist). I work alone and when I need a day off, I have to find coverage. I have already given my boss a heads up that I am doing this and will require time off in January or February (Hoping for Jan!). I do not think anyone can tell you that you cant take the time off - Especially for surgery! If you dont want them knowing what kind of surgery you are having - request that your doc put abdominal surgery on your paperwork. It is no ones business! If you dont have vacation time off, you can usually take a medical leave as well. I am sure I will have to jump through some hurdles for my time off as well. Good luck on your journey
  18. I need an outfit for my upcoming holiday party. I am most likely having surgery in January and the idea of spending so much on something that will not fit me for long drives me crazy! I thought I would try here in case anyone was getting rid of something! Thanks
  19. Ive heard that many people can not lay down when they get home from the hospital. I've seen that people sleep in their recliners for 2 weeks to be comfortable. What has your experience been? Should I be investing in a new recliner?
  20. That makes sense. Hopefully I'll be having mine done next month!! Thanks for all the info everyone:)
  21. I meant that it was not a completely open surgery - It is done through smaller incisions reducing the recovering period and chance for wound infection.
  22. Update: I have chosen the sleeve. It is the best option for me. I'm hoping to have my surgery in January! Thanks again for all of the advice and support - i love this forum!
  23. That was my thread - I think you can find it in my profile! Good luck on your journey:)
