  1. Thanks everyone. I haven't cheated and I deff don't want to. This whole thing is such a mind game. My dietician who works directly with my surgeon told me days 1-3 clear liquid and then full liquids until 3 weeks. I thought that was doable. It wasn't until AFTER surgery that my surgeon told me she was wrong and that I was on clears only. I feel like I mentally prepared myself and then my game plan was shot. I've been fine most of the way but today I am hungry and brotha taste disgusting to me. I have jello, Popsicles and water. That gets a little old! Any other ideas???
  2. I might be going crazy but I am on 3 weeks of clear liquid diet. I am 16 days post op today and 5 more until mushies. I'm seriously going crazy - would a little egg drop soup hurt? Something? I know I should be listening to my surgeon but most people at my stage are atleast on full liquids!!!!! Help!!!!
  3. I was in for 48 hours. Day 1 was Surgery and recovery. Day 2 was the dreaded Barium swallow with X-ray to test for leaks, and we were allowed to drink water immediately after. The next morning we had jello, juice and broth to test and make sure it stayed down, then my surgeon came in and asked if I felt good enough to go home - he said I could stay longer if I felt I needed to. I left! There's nothing like being at home - and I missed my kids like crazy!
  4. If I take a big sip and then sit back I get the gurgle. Or if I drink a sip and lay down its even louder! I know the diarrhea gurgle now - I Can't wait to be on solids so my bm's can go back to normal!
  5. I'm two weeks out today. You will all feel so much better in a week! I am on a 3 week clear liquid diet so I still feel sluggish, but it has gotten easier. The belly gurgling is crazy and really loud! I sometimes refer to it as my alien baby haha hey ya gotta laugh right??
  6. Head hunger was an issue for me after surgery - I had only a 2 day preop diet but now I am 2 weeks into my 3 week clear liquid diet so believe me.....I feel your pain! My brain still wants to eat sometimes, but I have zero hunger sensation from my new tummy - its very cool! I have my moments each day and it hasn't been easy, but you can do it!!! Feel free to inbox me with any questions -
  7. I've been struggling as well. I'm only two weeks out as of tomorrow but I have been a mess. My doc requires a clear liquid diet for 3 weeks after surgery - I have 9 days to go. I struggle with liquid and protein and I feel completely defeated at the end of every day. I knew this wasn't going to be easy but I could have never expected to feel so disconnected from my old life. Tonight I went to make dinner - and then remembered that I don't eat. I cried for 20 minutes. I can't wait for things to get better.
  8. Sugar Free Popsicles are my savior! They are the only things that will quench my thirst right now! Good luck
  9. I had the same thing. My surgeon said he finds some sort of reflux with every patient. Don't worry!!!
  10. Are you worried because you've been smoking? All I can say is be honest with your surgeon!
  11. I am going back tomorrow half day and am still on clear liquids - 9 days post op tomorrow. I'm exhausted from my Walmart trip today - I hope I survive!!!!
  12. Apparently my dietician - the woman who gave me 100 pages of literature and guidelines for this liquid diet did not verify it with my surgeon! I am not even full liquids - I am clear liquids only for TWO more weeks. I am only a week out and only had two bites of pudding so I didn't really break the rules but come on!!! Ugh. This is so hard.
  13. I am on the full liquid diet now. My dietician gave me a list of 5 things I can have. Most before surgery were great, but with the change in my stomach I can't eat them all now. Her list is skim milk, strained soups made with skim milk, sugar and fat free pudding or yogurt, protein supplements, and no ice cream. So wait.....that's really only 3 things. Please help me!!!! What was or is your favorite thing to eat on the full liquid diet???? I'm going crazy!
  14. I am trying desperately to get the water in! It's a full time job right now. Some days are better than others......but I'm trying:)
  15. A Bougie is a tube that is placed down your throat and into your stomach during surgery. The surgeon then staples/cuts your new stomach right to that tube - its used for measuring and not eyeballing your sleeve size. A 32 is the smallest. Will you have a catheter? I did for one night and was glad to not have to get up since your so pumped full of liquids during surgery! How does the surgeon close your incisions? I have glue right now and that's been great. I've heard of people having staples Pre-op and post-op diets.....every surgeon has diff guidelines. That's just a few and I asked them all as well!! Good luck!
  16. Last Monday I was in your shoes! This Monday I'm home and down 14lbs! Don't get me wrong - It hasn't been the easiest, but you can do it!! Good luck tomorrow and welcome to the losers bench:)
  17. I am 5 days post op and while watching army wives a song played and I started crying like a baby last night. It wasn't sad! I am a mess lol
  18. Don't worry!! You are not alone!!!
  19. Thanks everyone. I discovered that water goes down much easier than any other liquid (crystal light, sobe life water) and that it sits much easier at room temperature. My abdomen is still really sore but I'm sure that's to be expected right now. Just taking things slowly and trying not to worry!!
  20. I can't do most of the pain meds since they're narcotics and make me vomit. I can shower myself now, but not the day after surgery. I'm drinking as much as I can - sometimes its just downright painful. And the Vitamins to take? They're all overwhelming me!
  21. I see posts on here stating people are walking a mile the day after surgery - is that even possible??? I couldn't even shower myself! I have refused most of the pain meds bc I don't like how it feels and the morphine made me vomit in the hospital.
