someone else on bariatricpal inspired me with this one - doing my own pedicure. Didn't think I could do that!

Clothing Sizes
I've lost 40 pounds and 2 dress sizes... but I should tell you that I've been hovering around 37-40 lbs loss for several weeks but the 2 pant sizes really came around during that "stall" period. My body was working on something else i guess! I have 4 pairs of pants.. jeans and jean shorts, that fit me now, but already after discovering that last week they are starting to be at that stage where pulling them up or down doesn't require releasing the button or zipper. Soon they will be just falling off and then I'm going to have to find something that will fit because i do not have a closet full of old smaller sizes to peruse through. Anyway back to you... you dont seem to be losing sizes yet - don't fret this will come to pass for you, too. Are you exercising? don't overdo it but also don't not do it at all... the exercising I think is one of the things that is helping me so much just toning the muscles i have helps change my body shape so even with a "smaller" loss the measuring tape will still move.

Hiatal hernia repair
NSV stands for non-scale victory. I do weigh myself every day (along with journaling every thing I eat and all my exercise) and i notice that my body goes through stages of losing... i'll hit a new low number, fluctuate around that number bouncing back up a few pounds, back down some, then hit another new low or stall for a week or so before it starts moving again. I'm ok with this. What helps is also measuring yourself every once in a while because usually when the scale isnt moving my body is busy changing shape or working on muscle or something else. one recent NSV I can claim is losing 2 dress sizes. So, my 40 lb weight loss in 3 months may not be as much weight loss as lots of others can claim, but I'm happy with it. I also have picked Friday as my weekly day to evaluate how well i'm losing and it seems my rate of loss is 1-2 lbs per week which I think is pretty healthy and I'm happy with that, too. Anyway good luck to you and I hope the burning when you drink stops soon. It may just be some wounded tissue from the hiatal hernia repair and when it heals that will hopefully stop.

What flavorless protein powder you using?
I'm using the Genepro. I love this stuff.
-
What are you drinking?
I've been drinking the walmart brand (great value) of flavored drink mixes, basically a take off of crystal light. The flavor I like the most is Iced Tea with Peach. I also drink coffee and make homemade iced tea just from lipton tea bags, sweetened with splenda. either of these go great with GENEPRO Protein powder, which dissolves easily and doesnt muck up the flavors. Good luck with your drink choices as well as your working with the doc on fixing the painful swallowing problem. That has got to just suck!

Medicare post op patients, need some help!
I'm in Florida and only have medicare (not medicaid) and can tell you that they do not cover plastic surgery for skin removal. I think (don't know for a fact) that if you document together with your GP and Plastic surgeon that you are suffering from rashes and other skin disease issues that there's a possible case for plastics in that instance.

Honest truth about genepro protein powder
I'm almost at the bottom of my first bag of GENEPRO and I've got to say, I love it. It dissolves so easy I don't need a blender or even really to shake my measured shaker cup (the kind with a doohickey inside to help mix). Its just so EASY. It doesnt add any flavor to my drinks (homemade iced tea, crystal light flavored drinks) although I do notice it will change the color. Doesn't bother me. I love that its just one tablespoon to add to your _______. Other Protein powders need such a big amount that adding it to foods I think is harder. I also really like that the calorie count is 98, not 250-something like my lean-body pre-made shakes that are hanging out in my refrigerator taking up real estate.

HOW many calories?!?!
There's a new restaurant down the street from me called BJ's Brewhouse. I went there the other day just to see who they are, what they have, etc. I checked all the things that looked tasty as a method of narrowing down what I wanted to eat... the lowest calorie count item in virtually the whole menu was the Bison Burger... which believe it or not was not filling enough (I didn't eat the bun) so I ordered the tomato bisque soup thinking it would be fairly straightforward and healthy. The burger was 580 and then the soup came in at 633 and I was like... thank god I went for an hour and not just a half hour of laps in the pool today. their salads were all over 1k calories.

Best and worst "compliments"
I totally get you on this one. A very good friend's parents occasionally invite me into their home for holiday or special event gatherings, and they have seen me at my heaviest. I did not tell them about my WLS, but my friend did tell his mom about it (i didnt know that at the time). Anyway, the next time I saw his mother I was down about 25lbs and when she saw me she grabbed my arms and looking directly into my face told me over and over how great I looked and what have I done to my hair (yes, I had made a drastic change to my hair... cut about a foot and a half off the length going from long long long hair to just shoulder length). Anyway, I thought the reaction to my haircut was just so over the top. Alex told me later he'd told her about my surgery. I'm not sure if she was trying to be kind to me by demonstrating her exuberant support without "outing" a secret to a roomful of people, or if she really just liked my hairdo That Much. to me the 25lbs were not noticeable given how heavy I was at the outset... 367 HW -25 lbs didn't make a change in clothing sizes or anything so... who knows?

Vegetables
my new favorite alternate source of protein is boiled peanuts. but, peanuts, lentils, Beans and other nuts are good sources of protein and are all a nice change in texture from what you have been eating. If you want more details on stuff like this you could search the internet for vegetarian or vegan recipes - there is a LOT you can do for protein without limiting yourself to meat sources.

Updating ticker information
I haven't done the pics yet but... If you scroll to the very top of any page, there is a button called "Hello Rach8610" (for me it is "Yasman") and if you click on it once a menu of options pops up. Among them are "Content I follow" (which I use the most) and the one you are looking for "My Surgery" and "Before and After Pic" is another choice which I think is where you upload your photos. The My Surgery option will include lots of surgery related information but also the elusive Starting Weight, Current Weight, etc. the "Current Weight" field is what I think you are looking for. Hope that helps!
