How many meals do you eat in one day?
There really is no need to go much higher than 60. In fact, in some cases too much protein can harm your kidneys and your body can only assimilate so much at a time. If your doc said 50-60, I'd stick close to that. More is not always better.

Scrambled eggs versus peanut butter?
I've had a problem with scrambled eggs several times. I don't even try anymore without first mashing them up with my fork.

back pain
once banded, with restriction, you will begin to have signs from your band. these signs are letting you know that it may be time to stop eating or you may have gone 1 bite too many. things like the shoulder pain, a sudden bout of coughing, sneezing, runny nose, one big hiccup. if you are eating and you had none of these things going on then they suddenly come on while eating. most often these are signs which can be what is referred to as a 'soft' stop. often a 'hard' stop is more painful in your chest/esophagus area.. when i first came home and was drinking constantly. i was fine if i was standing, but if i sat down and drank, i'd suddenly get this fit of coughing. it was my diaphragm making it'self known. some folks start sneezing, some hiccup, some get a runny nose all the sudden. it's really very amusing how these things manifest themselves.

Is it me? Or is this band wishy-washy
gf, you are preachin to the choir.. lol. i have become quite accustomed to bringing home the box. i even ask for it now at the beginning. lol. however, it's funny how when you don't have that restriction anymore, you miss it terribly.

Went for a Fill today...
This is exactly why I don't care for these hit and miss fills with no flouro. When you start talking about poking my tubing and missing the port. I get a little nervous. Especially when I've just had two surgeries in the past 8 weeks. This may not be a big deal to these docs who make their living fixing these things, but it worries the heck out of me and my insurer. lol.

Is it me? Or is this band wishy-washy
That is, after all, why we have the band, right?

Boredom causes munchies!!
Neicy, I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine how very terrifying these things can be. The damage already done is just so devestating, it breaks my heart. Please, please stay safe and as far as I'm concerned - you have every right to eat nuts and oreos. You can worry about your weight next week when it's all over. Hugs to you. Please stay safe. Leatha

How do I know if the fill is too tight
Wow. let us know how that goes, Gail. You're right. It's tough to be totally unfilled. It feels very strange. I've missed it alot. I get to see my doc tomorrow for my first post-op visit. I'm hoping to find some restriction. Now, if I can just get enough and not too much. He does his fills without flouro - personally, I prefer flouro. We'll see how it goes. Leatha

back pain
my shoulder hurt like hades.. however, it was my left shoulder. funny... but, yep. i had my gallbladder taken exactly 6 weeks after my rebanding surgery. the shoulder pain after banding can last quite a while actually. initially, 2-4 weeks, but I even had shoulder pain afterward. it was one of my signs of soft/hard stop in eating.

First Fill
Awesome job Gina!! You can definitely tell you've lost 42lbs and don't ever say ONLY 6 lbs.. sheesh. You have the rest of your life. This is not meant to be fast weight loss. I ever heard my doc telling someone the other day she was losing TOO fast.. Imagine that... You're doing great! You should be very proud. Leatha

Endoscopy
With an EGD, they put a scope through your mouth and down your throat to look at the insides all the way to the stomach. An upper GI is merely a series of film done in Radiology with a barium swallow. Nowadays with the EGD, they most often leave you conscious but give you drugs that make you not care/forget what has happened, but this allows you to help swallow during the procedure. I had one done in '83 and they put me to sleep completely. Times have changed. Hope this helps!

Back from Mexico and I am a Banster!!
Yes. I was recently rebanded due to slippage/pouch dilation and had a hiatal hernia repaired. There was some speculation I had no pouch dilation at all but my band had slipped. There is also speculation that the hiatal hernia had something to do with it. I wouldn't borrow trouble. You've just been banded. I say ride the wave for as long as you can without worrying yourself over nothing. Issues do happen with the band, but comparatively, they are all pretty minor.

banded 9/8/04 -CARITAS LOUISVILLE KY
This sounds like quite an experience for such a young person! I'm really glad you made it through okay and had good docs that could handle the situation. this is one reason why it's so important to be in a facility that can handle something like this. So glad you are better and at home!! Great loss so far, keep it up!

Endoscopy
I ended up not having an EGD, but they were going to do one during my band surgery. He decided not to once he got in there.
