  1. Hi GoBanana. I started my pre-op diet on October 20th. I have to be on it for 2 weeks. I have a protien shake for Breakfast and lunch and a Lean Cuisine for dinner. Snacks I am doing are a medium fruit and piece of cheese. I can have all the veggies I want as well as sugar-free popcicles. I have read that every surgeon is different. When is your surgery. How long do you have to do the diet?
  2. Back when I smoked, everything revolved around when I could have a smoke. I quit on March 3, 1997 and I traded that in for food. Now when I am heading out for the day or making Dr. appointments, I automatically think "hmm...Let's make it right before lunch, so I can eat out". I am working on changing this. I suppose with time. I am wondering tho, will I replace this with something else?
  3. Champaign, Illinois where we are surrounded by corn and soybeans! Will be banded 11/3/2011.
  4. Hi Guys, I am from Champaign Illinois. I would love to have a private facebook group. It is easier for me to get on there on my phone. I usually only use the computer at work. As I said before, my Lap Band is scheduled for November 3rd. I am getting very excited. I ordered the Bandwagon Book by Jean McMillian. It came on Friday and I am almost done with it. It is a wonderful resource from someone who has been through it. As for telling people, I have chosen not to. My husband, my parents and 2 close friends from church know. Luckly, my boss at work is also my husband! Good luck to everyone and I am thankful that we have found each other for support!
  5. I have scheduled mine for November 3rd. I am like you guys, I just wish it would get herefast!
  6. Hi. I am having my band put in on November 3rd. The surgeon doing it is the one that is working with Dr. R in Champaign. His name is Dr. Kevin McEwen. He has worked in Nobelsville Indiana for years. I am still nervous tho! I am planning on going to the support group meeting on October 6th to see what it is like.
  7. Good Luck Kbaum. I have my surgery scheduled for November 3rd. Let me know how this 2 weeks of pre-diet go. I am a little nervous about it!
  8. That is so neat Nomrlz! I live near Champaign, Illinois. There are TONS of Heisers around. I wonder if it is any relation?? Bander, I was so shocked when I opened that card. We had been talking about it, but I didn't think he was going for the idea. I am thankful he did, now I just need to be positive and have positive results and then I can really jump up and down!
  9. Thanks guys. I will be praying for you Lady Lovely and NYMomof3. I am so excited for you. please keep me updated on how it is going for you. Corrigan, Thanks for your support. My surgeon has done 800 Bands. They are 99% of his practice. I have looked up information on him and I feel more secure about him. I guess I am just not good at dealing with the unkowns. I should have never watched those bad videos on youtube! I am going to a support group meeting tomorrow night to see what else I can learn!
  10. Hello everyone! I have had my consult appointment and I have scheduled my Lap Band for November 3, 2011. I am torn between being thrilled, scared and nervous. My husband and I had been talking this over for a while and he wasn't so sure. After watching all of the videos on youtube.com about all of the things that can go wrong.......Well, he was a little concerned. We prayed about it. For my birthday, my husband gave me a card with a "coupon" for 1 free Lap Band. I about cried. Now, I am looking at getting through the 2 week diet pre-op and figuring out how the first few months after the operation will be. This forum has been very helpful and I thank everyone for their encouragement. Does anyone has any advice or stories about how they were feeling and eating in the first few months out? Also, I am wondering what the longest that someone has had the band in place? Thanks! Laura
