Congrats on your papers being submitted!!! keep us updated on what the insurance says! I have my last PCP appointment on Friday and my psych appointment is tomorrow. I hope my psych doesnt' take too long to send in the report!! then it's off to the insurance!! Anyone here have BCBS (federal or not)? My coordinator says that it usually takes about 30 days to get an answer and I DON'T WANT TO WAIT THAT LONG!!!!

I have to go back tomorrow to give him some papers h e had me fill out. My last pcp is on Friday so I hope he sends the report asap. I wanna send it to the insurance asap! I'm so nervous!

Hello family! How long does it usually take for the pscychologist to send the report to the PCP doctor? I know everyone is different, but I just wanted to know an average. thanks! melissa

I'm glad you decided on vsg!! i was in the same boat you were and my doctor convinced to get sleeved instead of banded. Best decision ever!!! I can't wait!!! I hope it goes smoothly for all of us!! I'm actually talking about both. :/ I'm going to call my doctors office today and see if they can refer me to somebody else. and thank you to all you all for the advice. I have a lot of questions to ask them, so if they can't switch me, I will sit there until they both answer every single one of them!!! but again, thank you for letting me vent and for all the advice! I don't know what I would do without this family!!!

Sabrina, You and I are on the exact same time line!! My last PCP is Dec 9th too!!! :biggrin: I'm hoping for the middle or end of January as well. Are they sending you info to the insurance after the 9th or have they sent it out already??

so i'm just gonna rant and rave (short one) right now so bare with me... SOOOOOO, I had my nut eval last week on Wednesday and the Doctor couldn't have cared less about me or why I was there. He didn't ask me crap!!! just made me fill out a "questionaire", asked what my parent's and sibling's weight was, if i took drugs and what i have tried to lose weight!!! He was so effin monotone, bored and looked like he was frustrated with me. then he just gave me two sheets of paper with questions that ranked my "depression" and the other was an observation of my behavior. He said, "look at these and bring them back in 10 days. Thank you." I don't know whether I'm suppose to fill them out or wait til i see him again and have him "observe my behavior." Has anyone had a nut who needed to see them twice?? or has had one that was just plain uninterested in you? I payed 25 bucks for a guy to sit there and go through the motions... Am I thinking too much into this?? I just don't want him to "fail" me! :banghead: :nonod:

Hello friends, Can anyone tells me the difference ($) between the basic and standard versions of federal bcbs when it comes to getting this surgery?? I'm thinking of switching to Basic for next year. thanks, Melissa

I'm soooo sorry y'all got denied! that's my worst fear right about now. My last PCP appointment is on Dec 9th and then off to the insurance. Can y'all tell me why you got denied? I have BCBS federal and I'm VERY afraid they are going to give me crap about a simple little thing. :confused5:

Emily, what insurance do you have?? When i started this process 3 months ago, my BMI was right at 40 and my PCP said that i needed to "show" some weight loss but so far i've only lost like 6 lbs. My last appt is on the 9th and i'm afraid i haven't dropped any weight and that makes me afraid the insurance is going to give me trouble. Has anyone had any trouble because they HAVEN'T lost weight??

Girl, you and me both!!! I hope to have my surgery in January also and I'm going through the same thing you are. I honestly thought I was the only one who felt like this. None of my clothes fit and I had to go back to wearing my post baby clothes that i hadn't worn in 3 years!! i hate it!! My friends are always telling me to go out with them and I really don't feel like it anymore because I know I hate the way I look! they understand but I just don't feel comfortable with myself. I have nothing to wear right now and I know that this part of the journey is almost over, but I don't want to feel like this anymore. and yes, as much as I try to look "pretty", I can't I just want it to be January already so that I can have my surgery and it's takine FOREVER!!!!

Tenna, CONGRATS!!!!!! I have BCBS Federal, too and my last PCP appt is on Dec 9th. I'm praying that i get a fast and positive response just like you did! I have a question, do you know if BCBS only looks at your starting BMI? Did you turn in a food journal with all the paperwork? I'm so nervous that i'm going to be denied or anything like that cuz my BMI when I started was exactly 40. Any information about the insurance process will help. melissa

I have my Nut eval on the 21st too and I'm freaking out!! I've read so much on here about it and I'm still nervous. My last PCP appt is on Dec 9th and then out to the insurance it goes. I really hope the nut doesnt say i'm Nuts! lol Good luck!

Thanks for all the experience and knowledge y'all gave me!! i just had my 3rd appt with my weight management doctor. he said that he wants me to lose at least 1 lb a week because that will show the insurance that I'm trying to get ready for my eating habits after the surgery. Then I talk to the coordinator and she said the same thing. That BCBS fed only looks at the very first BMI, which was 40, so that's good. I just wish the insurance companies would be more specific when it came to things like this.

Thank you!!! I was told the same thing. That they would only look at the first BMI, I just hope that they don't deny me cuz i didn't lose that much weight. Did you keep a food journal that you turned in???
