  1. I hit 6 months and just stopped losing weight. I haven't lost in 4 weeks and am starting to become frustrated and concerned. Anyone else experience this? How do you move past it? I have considered hiring a dietician, personal trainer, therapist and even going back to Weight Watchers (but do have a limited budget) Help please!
  2. Tonight I had some milk with a little bit of nesquick (1/2T) I started to feel really sick like I wanted to throw up. I start to dry heave a little and felt very weak and overall yucky. My sister finally suggested that maybe I was having dumping syndrome. My sister had gastric and knows about dumping but hers is so different from mine. I was told that with the sleeve we don't dump unless we go way overboard with the sugar. What does dumping feel like with the sleeve? I am 2 months out and this is my first big experience.
  3. At about 6 months I hit a stall. I haven't lost weight in 4 weeks. I am starting to get frustrated and concerned. Up until this point I have consistantly been losing weight each week. Anyone else experience this situation? I have considered hiring a dietician, personal trainer, therapist and/or going back to Weight Watchers. I do have a limited funds and can't do them all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
  4. Thank you to all! What great advice. I have lost 75lbs so far and have 30lbs to go. I haven't been measuring inches and will get right on that. Anyone tried weight watchers post op?
  5. Congratulations! What an inspiring article! Thank you for being willing to share your story with so many people.
  6. I am 6 months out and all I can think about is food. I can't wait to eat and am always thinking about what I get to eat next. It is driving me nuts. I am having a lot of the binge feelings coming back and they are so powerful. How do I keep this head hunger in check. Is it possible to be having cravings this soon after surgey? Any support would be appreciated!
  7. Any recommendations on doctors that specialize on the removing the apron area? Looking for someone in the Sacramento area or even San Fran area. Not sure what that surgery is called? thanks!

    Is Actigall Necessary?

I am so thankful I get to take Actigall. Before my sleeve surgery I was having a great deal of pain from my galbladder. In fact my doctor was going to take my galbladder out at the same time he did the sleeve, but my liver was too enlarged to remove it safely. I have been on Actigall for 6 months and haven't had galbladder pain for at least 4 months. Actigall not only prevents future stones from forming but also helps to break up any old stones you may have. The rapid weight loss from our surgeries can cause the formation of stones. And personally I don't want to have any more pain or problems associated with my galbladder.
  9. Thanks to all! I am interested in the Sac or San Fran area only. I'll have to do some shopping around. Lil Miss Diva you look great!

Yay for you! Thanks for sharing!
  11. Hi, my name is Ava. I am 4.5 months post-op and could use some support from someone who has been there. I am 30 and would prefer someone around that age. I would also prefer a female. I look forward to having a mentor and for now am interested in email only. Thanks!
  12. I can totally relate. There are moments like Thanksgiving where I miss my old friend food too. I missed being able to have a full plate of food and enjoy it. I had to pick two of my favorite things to eat and then try the rest of the food at another meal. Not being able to eat like we used to is a mental adjustment. I just wonder if the day will ever come that I don't miss food so much?
  13. It is always discouraging to have a set back. Take comfort in the fact that you know the reason for it. Good luck to you and hang in there!
  14. way to regain control of the situation. it is important to recognize our triggers. and those jeans were a trigger. but you stayed rational and remembered you just fit into a 22. so many different brands have different sizes. sometimes it is easy to just go back to the habit of eating. and whether we like it or not our sleeve is enforced behavior modification. thank goodness for our safety net!
  15. I'm 4 months post op and still have to be really careful with my pills. It is important to take only 1 or 2 pills at a time and also to space the next set of pills 30-45 minutes apart. If I take too many pills or take them too close together I get violent heartburn, then I salivate, then I start to dry heave and have foamies (i never fully throw up) then I have to go diarrhea. It is quite the episode. But I have the quanitity and timing of pills finally all figured out... for the most part Also, I take an XR at night with no trouble. Make sure you have a little something in your tummy. But I don't advise trying to take pills right after you eat, it is hard to get them down and can hurt. And yes it does seem easier to do everything at night. When I asked my dr about my pill problem he said it was because I was overwhelming my stomach. Try to figure out a couple pill plans and don't give up! Hope some of this helps. Email me if you need more!
  16. I never feel well when I get up. I do not want to eat or drink. I feel extreme fatigue and just a heaviness about my body. I also feel super dehydrated. It takes a couple of hours before I can start drinking and eating and slowly I start to feel better. Does anyone else have this problem? What tips or tricks do you have to get your sleeve up and running?

    I need serious help here...

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Have someone get you some Gatorade and just start sipping. Super important to try and stay hydrated. Just keep hanging in there. Let us know what happens with the doctor.

  20. My weight loss has slowed down significantly at 4 months. I am wondering what an average weekly weight loss is for others?

    Not mentally prepared...

Yukon Kara, Great book suggestions! I just looked up and purchased, The Weight Loss Surgery Coping Companion. I read the sneak peak on Amazon. I have been searching for a book that helps address the emotional side of surgery and this looks like the book! Thanks!
  22. Thank you everyone! Nice to hear how everyone is doing.
  23. I'm 3.5 months out and find that I am starting to eat too quickly. Sometimes I try to have a magazine to look at while I'm eating to slow me down a bit. I was told my meals should last around 30 minutes. I do not take that long at all and do not have any trouble eating. Any tips or tricks to make my meals last longer? And what do you think the purpose is for eating so slowly (aside from the pain it can cause)?
  24. thanks everyone! great suggestions!

    question...

p.s. for me during the soft food phase I didn't feel hungry nor did i feel full. it is important to have guidelines like no more than 4 oz because it takes awhile after surgery for your body to start telling you it is full. this was my experience!
