Lap Band with Plication anyone ??
I had my surgery at a Center of Excellence and have read articles that relate to the advantages and good results of the band with plication. I am sure there are times when problems arise and it is a fairly new procedure, but that is the case with any surgery including wls. I am happy with my surgery and would recommend it to anyone who asked.

I found the Sonic nutritional information but it is a pdf file and I didn't know how to copy it here. Here's the link http://www.sonicdrivein.com/pdfs/menu/SonicNutritionGuide.pdf Go to page 18 and it lists the limeades and such. Looks like the diet ones are fine. I didn't look at the regular

TALKING ABOUT SEX
LOL I thought I was the only one who had a huge question mark in their head about the oral thing after reading this post. After reading several posts by this poster, I agree that they need to educate themselves about the band more.

Sept 2011 bandsters
I am dealing with the shoulder pain as well. It comes and goes and at first I thought they must have aggravated my herniated C6 disc during surgery or lifting me to the stretcher or something. After reading here it seems that this a common occurance and will just go away with time. Just to check, is anyone else having pain in their upper arm as well? My shoulder and arm hurt to a point where I have to prop a folded bed pillow under it to get some relief at times.

I'm getting talked out of Surgery on Obesity Help
Only you can make this decision for yourself. Where are the statistical numbers coming from that you mentioned in your post for erosion, slippage, etc? Is that just someone posting it on a message board to you? If you are concerned about that I would think talking to your doctor's office would be a more educationally correct source. Ask your bariatic coordinator to give you some numbers from your doctor's facility. I would bet that the numbers are extremely low. Considering how many people have this surgery every day, if it were true that it was such a failure, don't you think that there would not be so many of them? I don't understand why the site Obesity Help is so negative towards lap band surgery, other than lack of knowledge on their part. Read the success stories here to offset the negativity and to give you another perspective. I am 12 days out from surgery and think I made the best decision ever in my life. I am excited to use this tool to have a healthier and better quality of life than I have now. Once again, only you can make this decision for yourself though.

Transition from Liquids too easy!!
I was also banded on the 14th. I am on pureed foods now but have had no hunger at all. Sometimes I cannot eat the whole of the 4 oz yogurts. I drank my cream of chicken soup protein shake too fast today and was terribly uncomfortable for a bit, enough that I could not finish it. I do not know if the fact that I had plication along with the band is making a difference, but I am definitely not getting any physical hunger pains. Occasionally head hunger does rear its ugly head though.

Diarreha after the band
The binder I was given by my doctor's office addressed this. I was told to have on hand Milk of Magnesia for constipation and Pepto Bismol for diarrhea. I am sure if you talk to your doctor's office tomorrow they will tell you what they want you to take. I used the milk of magnesia 4 days after surgery and considered taking the Pepto today, but it the looseness stopped on its on this afternoon.

MY FITNESS PAL. COM??????
I am using it as my daily tracker. I put my carbs and fats where I wanted them and it bumped my protein up to some ghastly amount considering my caloric limit. But I just use it to keep up with what my actual numbers are and ignore the rest. I also stopped tracking my exercise on it as I didn't like it messing with my calorie intake allowance per day. I keep track of exercise on my Wii Fit. It is working for me and I like not having to write everything down but just find it and add it with a mouse click.

FEELING DISCOURAGED :(
I, too, would find another place to have my surgery. Look for a Center of Excellence, they have to pass rigorous tests to carry that designation.

Fresh out of surgery
Try a heating pad for some of the gas pain. I used one and it seemed to help a good bit. Sorry you all are in pain but just hang in there it will get better.

Another Birminghamian here and your pictures are amazing. I will be hanging onto that doctor's name if and when my time comes for a tt.

Protein Drinks Stage 1
Marebeth, this recipe was given to me by my nutritionist for use during this time. She wants to keep carbs fairly low, but not to the extreme of Atkins @ the under 20. I am trying to keep my carbs under 50/55 per day and seem to be losing just fine. She stresses protein more than carbs through the healing stage. And yes, I am on pureed foods this week. I had this particular shake yesterday, but with my scrambled egg, greek yogurt and other protein shake I met my protein but did not exceed my carbs.

Janice, just hang in there. In another couple of days or so you will be feeling much better. I think the 2nd and 3rd days are definitely the worst. Just tried to sleep in my bed for a bit, but it is back to the recliner. Another couple of days and I think it will happen, though.

Has anyone tried Visalus Protien shakes?
From what I read on the net this is MLM company. Is that correct?

Congratulations. You have done well.

I am a side sleeper and physically cannot sleep on my back to to lumbar problems. I have been sleeping in the recliner since 9/14 because it is too painful to sleep on my sides yet. Hopefully soon, as I sure miss my bed. You may have better luck, though.

Glady you all had successful surgeries and for those of you hurting, it will go away. All of you hang in there and heal. We are nearly all offically bandsters in this thread. Just a few more days of this month for the rest of you to be there!! Oh, and the protein shots are horrible. I drank half of one and held my nose. How can they taste sooooo bad?

I just got my Weight Loss Cookbook for Dummies from Amazon today. I am excited to read it and it even has a few recipes for the pureed/super soft food stage I am in. Yay! Got a Magic Bullet at Bed, Bath and Beyond today and I hope this thing works to puree some foods and that the protein smoothies you can make with it are good.

Hope all of you banded so far this week are having a good recovery. So my stage 2 is pureed/very soft foods. It is my first day and I just worked up the courage to eat something. I chose a soft scrambled egg. It took me over half an hour to eat it. I don't know if I was scared to eat or what, but I have never spent so long on such a small amount of food. I chewed it into absolutely nothing. LOL
