    Aug 1st is the day

Take everything one step at a time. I had a lapband to sleeve conversion surgery on July 8th, and it's hard to believe I'm already 3 weeks out. You're taking the first step to bettering yourself, and these forums are excellent support groups because we have similar experiences, and lots of empathy.
  2. My dietician and doctor encouraged me to download the Baritastic app. It's pretty awesome, and meant specifically for weight loss surgery. You can log your food, exercise, measurements, weight, Water intake, and there are even timers. A timer for 20 seconds to chew your food properly, a timer for 30 minutes after you eat to let you know you can drink water. There's even reminders for taking your Vitamins, to remind you to eat, I ever created a reminder to ask how my water intake is going. Highly recommend the Baritastic app.
  3. I was converted from band to sleeve on July 8th. I am trying to get my Protein in, and my doctor told me to mix unflavored protein with my diet. What do I put it in? I tried my Soup (learned the hard way you can't warm it up without it clumping lol), I did make some sugar free pudding with it (tastes awesome). What else can I do? Thanks.
  4. Does it clump up with broth?
  5. I am 5 feet and 3/4 of an inch. I feel the BMI struggle. My doctor told me ideally I should weigh 100 pounds...it was a good laugh.
  6. I was sleeved on July 8th, and prior to surgery I read a recommendation to buy an abdominal binder. I put it on tonight after my first shower, and the comfort of the abdominal binder is awesome. I would highly recommend one, it makes you feel comfortable, and like your tummy area and insides aren't all over the place.
  7. I bought mine on amazon. They had a plus size one, and it adjusts with your size.

    So emotional!

I got sleeved on July 8th, and walked through the grocery store to pick up liquids. Although I do not feel hungry, the variety of scents made me have this weird feeling of missing it. I think food addiction is a real thing. Find new things you can have that you do enjoy and try to appreciate them? I know it's rough, but it's a limited struggle to help us accomplish our long term weight battles. This too shall pass....maybe feels like passing a kidney stone, but this too shall pass, lol.
  10. Little sips are difficult for me too. If I drink too fast I get this crazy burp type of gas.
  11. I went through lapband surgery in September 2011, and was successful with the lapband. When I got pregnant they removed all fluids in my band. In September 2015 I went to get a fill to learn that my port was inverted and my band is slipping. I made the decision to convert from a band to a sleeve, and will have surgery tomorrow. I'm nervous and excited, hoping for a speedy recovery.
  12. They did my leak test while I was still under anesthesia. They said Clear liquids yesterday. I have not recieved anything today yet. Spoke too soon. They brought me a Protein shake and decaf tea for Breakfast.

  14. My surgery went great! I was out if recovery 3 hours ago. Feeling fully coherent, dinner of broth and sugar free cranberry juice (which I thought was to sweet), and ice chips. So far so fabulous, day one down!
  15. Congratulations! I have surgery tomorrow.

What my band should have done.

I'm having the same revision on July 8th. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

  18. It's been a while. Life has been very crazy and hectic. My first fill was postponed, and I will now be going in for my first fill on November 19th.

  19. 40 days after surgery - go in for my first fill in less than a week.

  20. 1st Post-op appointment last Tuesday- went well. Approved to begin working out =)

  21. I'm 18 days post-op, and would do it again no problem. A few things that I think should have been brought to the table for me include: Where the surgery will be located. For me, I thought it would be the next town over, but it was 3 hours away. How much fills will cost (I wasn't sure if my insurance covered them or not- they do). What types of labs and tests have to be completed prior to surgery. (I was not made aware of any and had to complete a sleep study 3 hours away, an endoscopy 3 hours away, surgery clearance from my physician, lab work, etc). The question about how the port is attached is great because I didn't know the difference, but my doctor brought it up to us. My main question going in was if I could get pregnant (since that's a goal over the next few years- to have kids) I did read through this website a lot before I decided to go on with my lapband. Things you may read about that don't make sense (at least for me) was the gas pain. That is NO joke. You get this weird pain in your left shoulder, and it truly hurts; but in turn it passes rather quickly, and for me it has been few and far between after the first few days. I have noticed if I eat too much I get the pain as well. If you have any questions, I would love to answer based on my experience. I also know that people are different, and for me I have a blogging buddy who has the same surgery date as me and we have had two totally different experiences. Best wishes!
  22. I was also told only 30 minutes before, and 30 minutes after. It is SUPER hard for me to, but do a decent job at it. I've been trying not to eat too many dry foods. I've noticed that really helps. I tend to forget before meals, but don't drink with my meals at all. Sometimes I'll set a timer, or go do something to completely occupy my time for a half hour. I haven't had a problem with chewing gum, and have used that as an option, but I've read that others get really bad left shoulder pain. That is the worst pain I've felt and try to avoid it, but chewing gum hasn't given me any gas pains yet.
  23. I was so glad to read this. I got banded 18 days ago, and I know my first fill won't be for a while, since my follow up appt is tomorrow (I plan to ask though). I was super curious how it felt or how internally it felt. This was a great post- and also had great comments. Since everyone's not the same, it's eye opening to see how well it was for you, and how others still feel little or no restriction.
  24. Glad your port is getting better. The redness gone away yet? It's been about a week.

  25. 18 days post op- things are still well. Follow-up appointment tomorrow.
