  1. Dehydration will absolutely cause nausea as well as light headedness. I hope you feel better soon...nothing worse than nausea. I tossed out the info from my surgical notebook just as a possiblity. Feel better!
  2. Tammi, Check with your doc and see if you went off an all liquid diet too soon. My doc says the most common cause of problems is rushing the consistency of food. For instance, I will be on watery liquids for 3 weeks before moving to soft foods. This is supposed to give your body time to heal and prevent digestive issues and tearing of incision. My post-op instructions say that nausea is a side effect of overeating as is vomiting.
  3. Very. But also apprehensive. It is a huge help reading what everyone has experienced. I begin my pre-op diet today and am really nervous about being to stick to it for two weeks. Sweets are not a problem for me but carbs are!
  4. Two weeks from tomorrow. September 6 in Dallas with Dr Nicholson.
  5. I'm still not clear about what kind of protein drinks folks are referring to. Are they powder put into water or prepackaged? Would love any suggestions. I will be purchasing the chewable childrens vitamins as it seems those are the most popular for digestive purposes. Is everyone on the liquid only diet for 30 days?
  6. Is it difficult swallowing the drinks? Fullness? I read that many people have trouble getting liquids in.
  7. I notice that some people refer to Protein drinks as the beverages they use right after surgery. Dr Nicholson told me I would be drinking the very watery beverages for the first 30 days after surgery which I am assuming are the Bariatric Advantage "post-op" drinks. What drinks are you using? And, how did the vitamins go down? Any problems?
  8. I'll be purchasing all of the vitamins next week. Thanks for the input. I'll ask about B1. How is your recovery going? It looks like you just recently had surgery.
  9. Well, at least he seems to be! My doctor is Dr Nicholson at Baylor. He's the medical director of weightloss surgery at Baylor Plano and the new Forest Park Medical Center...a wonderful guy. Great reputation among other docs here in Dallas.
  10. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you! That's how mommys feel when they are separated from their children. You are doing a wonderful thing for yourself AND for her and you will be around to snuggle for many years as a result. I used to watch Sesame Street when mine were not around...can you guess my age?! Love the Sponge Bob tidbit! You'll do great!
  11. I live in Dallas and I'm having surgery with Dr Nick on Sept 6th. It's sounds like we're experiencing the same apprehensiveness. I will be starting my pre-op next week. Dr Nicholson suggested I try the customized kits on bariatricadvantage.com to be sure there are no complications regarding the thickness of beverages and nutrition. I have a BMI of 34 and weigh 197lbs.
  12. Is anyone taking vitamins? My doctor suggested I go to bariatricadvantage.com where they have assembled nutrition kits to his specifications for first 30 days of post-op. I noticed the same brand in my local independent pharmacy. Has anyone tried these drinks?
  13. Jamee, Is it stomach hunger? What were your first couple of days like?
  14. Thanks for sharing...every little bit of information helps!
  15. Just had a conversation about hair and skin at dinner tonight! You are so young you should be able to tone up with no problem. How are you feeling otherwise? I'm scheduled for September 6...(BMI 34-197lbs). How did you feel the first week after surgery?
  16. Wow, is right! Are you experiencing any side effects or complications?
  17. Today I meet with my WLS, along with my husband, to ask any questions we may still have. I'm excited but apprehensive which I know is normal. Moving forward!
  18. Great news! Please keep updating...I know I'm really interested in how it's going and what you experience post-op. Are you home yet?
  19. Dr. Nicholson at Forest Park Sept 6. A bit nervous.
  20. How are you doing?
