  2. That is what I did, had the lap band planned and was told I would do better with the sleeve. I am going to stick with the lap band decision though. Thanks for letting me know how it worked out for you.
  3. I had my first appointment yesterday and came away very confused. Lap band is my choice for surgery, but the attending physician in the office thinks that the sleeve will be better for me. Excuse me, but I don't want 3/4 of my stomach removed. He told me that the average weight loss for banding is 36%, which in my case would be about 60 lbs. I have not seen anyone who has lost less than 100. My niece has lost 140 over the last 20 months. With sleeve, 50% and 77% with bypass Anyone have any comments or thoughts ?
  4. Have my first apt on Monday, what can I expect ?
  5. Hi Everyone !! I am new and have my first appointment on Monday. Nervous and excited at the same time. My niece was banded in Feb 2012 and is down 140 lbs. Along with all of you who are successful, she is so much inspiration. Looking forward to reading and posting here. Elaine
  6. Just starting the whole process. Have taken an online seminar, a test and completed all patient forms. Will see my regular doctor this week for his completion of paperwork. Very nervous but very excited !!
  7. I went to my surgeon last Monday. At 328 lbs and a BMI of 59, he recommended the gastric bypass. I went looking into the lap band. I have not been approved for surgery yet, but hope to. By the time I left I was considering the bypass, then I saw my doctor later in the week and recommended the lap band. The biggest reason being the risks. Plus, they both said I would only lose between 40 and 60 lbs. Why am I seeing over 100 or 150 lbs lost ? I am confused by this. Can anyone tell me about the weight loss and how much you can lose.
