5 Days After Surgery, Feeling Sick?
I think that you're right- a lot less food, surgery- I had the same thing, about day 4 I was nauseous- but today for me is day 6 and I feel a heck of a lot better. Hang in there!!!! Also, the meds on not a very full stomach sometimes wreak havoc.

The drinking thing- see it seems to me that I can drink a lot, I have no difficulty whatsoever. But then other times it seems like it sits and then kind of funnels down, LOL. And not drinking 30 minutes before or after- and I'm a drinker with meals. I will have to remember and concentrate! My dr put in a 14 cc band, what size are you guy's bands? He took a picture of my stomach with the band in it- that will look good in my scrapbook, LOL. I asked him yesterday why that size, he said it was the one that was a better fit for my anatomy, that they'd rather have a bigger band they can fill rather than a band that is too tight from the get go, that can cause problems. I just hope it's not too too long to find my sweet spot. It's good to have you girls!!!!

Hi Journey 4 me- so my doctor said it was what I could eat in 30 mintues- not a portion particualrly. He said if I serve a salad plate of food, eat very small bites, chew thoroughly, and if I was done before 30 minutes, I was done, and if it was 30 minutes and I still had food left, I was done. Hope this helps!

Hi everyone- Journey2be- good luck! Elizabeth- hope you're recovering well Journey4me- those will be hard to keep straight, LOL- I'm not sure on the portion sizes, I'll ask at my dr appt today. I feel like I can drink as much as I want- a 1 c protein drink was not a problem this morning. I took my time and sipped, but didn't wait several minutes between sips or anything. I'll let you know what the doc says for me. I didn't do the cream soup last night, did unjury chicken broth (better than the canned crap) and some popsicles. I did do a protein shake this morning. I have my post-op appointment today, I'll let you know how much weight I've lost! Just some pain in my abdomen- some by the port, some on my left side, don't know what is up with that. See you later!

When Do You Usually Move To Phase Ii Foods
I hear you- I had surgery last Thursday, and finally last night I broke down and had a protein drink, I was so hungry! I couldn't stomach the thoguht of more chicken broth, jello or popsicles, LOL. I think it's good, just go slow and if it irritates you, stop, LOL.

Thanks, I really think I am off chicken broth for awhile, LOL. It is funny how different every doctor's advice is!

Hi girls- I'm doing pretty well- but question- I was banded last Thursday, 1/26. I was supposed to be on Clear liquids until tomorrow, after I see my Dr. However- last night and this morning I had a watered down Protein shake, I just couldn't stomach more broth- really, I thought I was going to be sick. Do you think this will mess me up? I noticed that a lot of people only have a couple days of clear liquids, or can even do Protein shakes right away. What are your thoughts?

I was banded on 1/26. I'm doin great, had not much pain, no pain meds yesterday or today. All liquids, getting tired of chicken broth for sure. I am going back to work tomorrow, sedentary desk job and I do feel up to it. Just trying to get some calories in. One thing, and maybe tmi, but I have an iud, and this surgery seems to have triggered my ttotm. It's usually nonexistent, but its rather annoying. More to mess with. I'm looking foreward to cream of chicken soup! I'm glad to have people to travel this journey with. Start weight 284 Surgery day 275.5 First goal 250

Newbie With Question About Post-Op Diet
My Dr is similar to yours. His point is if you try the next "phase" and its uncomfortable, stay at your current phase another day or so.

3Rd Day Post Op Questions
I was banded yesterday, clear liquids, broth and jello are great. I'm sore in my port incision, but doing well . My Dr uses glue for the incisions, so no itchy steri strips. Just give it time! Surgery is not easy.

I'm Getting Banded Tomorrow!!
All went great, so far minimal pain. I am so happy!!

I Have Joined The Post Surgery Ranks!!
I just got home and all went really well. Very little pain, just some when I cough. Compared to my C-section, this is a breeze. So glad I did this, I'll keep you posted, and really appreciate the information I got in making the decision to have lapband! I had a large Lap Band, with 15 mls or so (I need to convert that to cc's, LOL)

First Two Weeks...
I have to say that I really like the Unjury as well- I like that it has the chicken broth so it's not always just sweet, and the unflavored. It is a smidge more expensive, but then I'm not eating out and buying crap and eating too much of it, so I feel that I will still come out ahead money wise, LOL. To Pibble- gas-x is your friend I hear! Try that. As far as the stomach thing- not sure, can you put something between the layers, like a pantiliner folded lengthwise down it's sticky side inserted between, or a folded washcloth? I'm excited to have my two weeks- my dr only has us on clear liquids for 3-4 days, then on to the next phase- if I can't tolerate those foods then stay with the current phase for a day or two more.

I'm Getting Banded Tomorrow!!
Nervous and excited! My work doesnt' know I'm being banded, so I'm coming donw with something (insert cough here)- luckily (in a twisted way) there's been a couple others out sick in the office so something is definitely going around, LOL. I am kind of nervous too because I hope to be back to work on Monday- off Thursday and Friday. I'm not sure I can extend til Monday. We'll see, though, I will if I have to. The pre-op diet hasn't been as hard as I had thought- I'm not just doing shakes, though, just really limiting my calories, and doing mostly shakes. I have lost about 11 lbs. I will say, DH is making me a very small steak and steamed veggies for dinner tonight! I am excited to lose weight, for once and for all, and to not have it be such a struggle- and I'm glad to have all of you as my group to be successful with!

Concerned About Flying After Surgery
I have a history of embolisms following surgery, due to flying after breaking my ankle, and all my dr said was wait 2-3 weeks. Maybe try to meet the surgeon earlier, or maybe when you express concern about flying they'll do surgery sooner than 2 weeks after that appointment.
