  1. I'd be interested in keeping in touch through a Chicago area site.
  2. I had my surgery this past December and have had two fills. Only in the last week have I felt any type of restriction. I have another appointment on the 27th and think that the third fill will be really good as far as getting me to my green zone.
  3. Hi Lanie, I'm in Hanover Park, only about 15-20 minutes from you! Tracy
  4. This thread is great! I love hearing from people from my area! After having my first fill of 2.75cc, I still have very little restriction. I have been feeling frustrated and anxious about everything, but I also know that it takes time and fills and getting to know my new body and self for this to really work. I have my next appointment in about four weeks and will most likely get a second fill at that time. For now, I'm working on drinking enough Water and eating only three meals each day. My exercise is pretty good and Protein is as well. Do any of you attend support groups? I go to the Kane Center on the first Saturday of the month. If anyone is interested in going let me know. I hope you all have a great week!
  5. I'm about 30 minutes northwest of Chicago. I was banded on Dec. 20 and just had m my first fill today. I'm excited to see how much restriction this will give me. I'd love to keep in touch with everyone here!
  6. I had my first fill today. The doctor swabbed the area to sterilize it, numbed up the area, and then did the fill. The only thing I felt was a slight prick when he put the numbing medicine in the port area. I think ripping the bandaid off tonight was the worst part of the process!! I would definitely ask for the numbing meds again for future fills though.
  7. I had my first fill this morning. The doctor swabbed the area around the port incision to sterilize it, numbed me up, and then before I knew it he was done. He was able to put 2.75 cc in today. I go back in five weeks for my second fill. I'm excited to see how I feel after just this little bit added to the band.
  8. Happy belated birthday! I got my lapband on Dec. 20, so I kept saying "Merry Christmas to me!!" The BEST present EVER!!
  9. I won't have my first fill until Jan. 18, but I picked up a handout regarding diet after a fill from my surgeon's office at my last visit. It says: TODAY (day of fill) - Clear liquids TOMORROW and the FOLLOWING DAY - Full liquids (pudding, yogurt, etc) DAY 3 and DAY 4 - Blended diet DAY 5 and FORWARD - Diet as tolerated It also says that if at any time on the day of the fill or the day after you are unable to tolerate clear liquids (vomiting, not keeping liquids down) that you need to call the office right away. I hope this helps!
  10. I was banded on the 20th and will be getting to the mushy stage as well. Thanks for the great food ideas!
  11. Happy 2012! My resolutions are to follow the lapband rules to success and make time for myself every day. I wish you all the best in 2012!
  12. I was actually considering that yesterday, but told my husband that I would wait until Monday and then call. Luckily today things have been better. The pain in my side is definitiely gas/digestion related. The pain in my jaw is not as intense and seems to be related to my body trying to burp but nothing coming out. I certainly do feel better today though. Thank goodness!
  13. Feeling better today, thank goodness! Definitely gas/digestion issues causing the pain in my side. As for my jaw, not sure what that is from. Hope you all are well!
  14. Hey everyone! I was banded on December 20 and am down 13 lbs. I'm down a total of about 40 lbs. since starting this journey. I felt great the first week and even told my doctor at my first appointment that I couldn't believe how good I felt. Now the last three days I have been in terrible pain. My left side hurts and gets a sharp, piercing pain when I breathe in. Now the pain in radiating up into my jaw. I'm hoping this passes soon because I just feel really crappy. I have been off my pain meds since Christmas Eve but feel like I might need to take a dose tonight. I'm hopeful with a day or two of rest that this will subside. I'm looking forward to keeping in touch with all of the December Bandsters! Best wishes for a happy, healthy 2012!
  15. I had my surgery on the 20th and felt great the first week. As a matter of fact, at my first post-op appointment I told the doctor I was doing so well and couldn't believe how good I felt. Then...it hit. For three days now I have had piercing pain on my left side and now it is radiating up into my jaw. I have taken gas-ex and am trying to drink as much Water as possible. I have spent much time laying on my left side hoping that it is just gas pain and it will work its way out. No luck yet. I just feel terrible. Not that I am happy that anyone else is suffering, but I'm happy to hear that what I am experiencing might just be normal.
