  1. Hi, To be honest, in the beginning I had regrets because of the issues that I was having and the changes to my body that was taking place so quickly that mentally I wasn't able to keep up with it. I was scared and had second thoughts about why I had the surgery. I lost 28 pds the first month. It scared the crap out me. But now after the weight loss slowing down, and I started going to counseling, I am ok mentally and happy with myself and the way I look. The only thing I have is acid reflux, never had before the surgery, but with control and changing of the types of foods I eat, I have been able to manage that. I am one year and four months out since my surgery - down from 298 to 167 and loving it. Edith
  2. Hi, I was just reading your post. I am currently 1 year and 4 months out as of today. It was recommend that I take Biotin 5000 mg by Natures Bounty. Including my regular vit and Calcium pills. It is a tiny pill so there should be not problems swallowing it. Once I started taking it, it slowed the breakage down to the point where my has grew in quickly. So, I started giving it to my daughter to take for her hear breakage and it seem to work. Hope that helps. Edith
  3. Hi 'Amanda, I did have some issues in the beginning. The doctor had me to do a sleeve test to make sure there was not leakage or blockage. Everything was ok. Everything turned out ok with the tests. I stayed on liquids - drank G2, plenty of Water, high Protein broth to keep from getting dehydrate. It turned out was getting a very bad cold which caused me to have a lot of phlegm - because of this I was not able to hold down very little liquids until I got over the cold. Edith
  4. Hi, Please don't get discourage. I started at 283 pds. Please remember, your body has to adjust from the trama that was caused to it and the swelling from your stomach being blown up. Be patient - it will happen. DD
  5. Hi, I just had my first visit with my doctor after my surgery date. He said I am healing correctly and I have lost 25 pd and just had my surgery on Nov. 12th!!!! To be honest, I didn't realize I had lost that much. Yes, I am happy, but I still have a long haul ahead. The doctor gave me permission to start eating soft foods. So this is going to be interesting. So I can shop for real food and not just Protein shakes. I think I am getting allergic to them. So tonight I am going to try eggs and a slice of turkey and see how that works for me. DD
  6. Hi You have brought something to my attention. I was wondering why I would hic-up after I would drink my shake. Now I know what to look for. But differently yes, I do get them and they little ones, Thank goodness. . DD
  7. Hi, I had my surgery on Friday, Nov. 12th. Everything went well with the surgery, but due to me not being to keep any liquids down, the doctor decided to keep me an extra two days in the hospital. After the first day I didn't really have any pain, except when they gave me pills to take on the last two days I was in the hospital. I had to learn to put time between the time I take the pills and also I have to walk after taking them, - because they just don't sit well at this time in my stomach. I have been home since Tuesday morning, my only concern is keeping the liquid - I now have to take baby sips and baby sit my Protein drink for most of the day and the Water bottle. I am also having emotional issues because of the fact that I can't keep the liquid down. I know at this time I am not getting enough water and protein drink down. I can only do one and one - this is very concerning to me right now. Because of not being able to keep the liquid down, I am starting to question myself. If I did the right thing - even though I know I did - thinking about seeking professional help. I having my good days and bad days. Today is a good day. Edith
  8. Hi, I wish you luck!!!! Everything will work out for you. I will going in for my surgery on Friday, so I am nervous myself. I will for your posting. DD:rolleyes:
  9. Hello, I am new to this. I have been in out and out of this site for the past 5 months, but decided to join yesterday. Everyone seems very nice and very help and understanding. I got approved by my health insurance this past Wednesday for the surgery. So I am excited but very nervous. But on the same day I got my approval I found out I gained 5 pds. So, that means that I have to loose that weight plus atleast another 3 pounds, which I think I can do. This has been a learning experience and I am in this for the long haul. I spoke to my nutritionist and we went over everything I was eating. The culprit is those darn carbs. So now I have started a day to day diary to see what I am eating going forward. I also have to replace two of my meals with a Protein drink. I found this website where I can actually change the drink around to make it more interesting - like adding fruits and fresh vegs to it. I also found a drink called Isopure zero cal. GNC sells them. I can drink a half one per day, because it has 40 grams of protein in it. Also, I will be walking longer and learning how to eat my protein first and drink 30 before and after my meal. I like I said I am in this for the long haul and I want this to work for me. Edith
