  1. Slow down and give your new band time to get in sync with your body. Your mind is exploring ways to use the band to help you. Reaching out, asking questions that all part of your emotional lapband growth. I really did not realize the patience and growth needed to use the lapband properly and I still am learning. Getting perspective is very helpful. I have noticed on the boards a lot of the people with lapbands are very satisfied and where they want to be in about a year. After your meal ask yourself 2 hours later...could I really be hungary or is something else happening. Drinking Water, divering your mind can help. These are ideas I use and I hope they help you. Stay curious and excited as I think we are on to a good thing it is just not instant!
  2. Well, I am 67 and so far it doesn't seem to contribute to any problems that the younger do not have. I have the same probllems you listed plus heart stents, diabetes and a cancer survivor. I felt and still do theband is a great tool! It is not without its challenges but I am growing through those. It is not fast so our skin gets to catch up which is good at our age. I was banded the end of April. I have lost 35lbs, maybe more. I have much more energy, can move more easily, some of my meds have been cut including insulin, the doctors are pleased. Is it all roses? No as you will see from the boards but we support each other through the difficult times. Seems like the majority, big majority would do it again and happy to have a lifetime tool. Good luck to you!
  3. Yes I get hickups sometimes. I really do not know why but I would guess Janiece's answer is the right one because I think mine happen after I eat or drink too fast or too much in one bite or drink. It is annoying but not too bad and it goes away pretty fast.
  4. Good choices and attitude.......wishing you good things ahead!
  5. Yes I did notice the different sizes. I think I know I have a 10cc band. I have had 2 fills of 1cc each. Maybe that helps you learn the differences, I am learning too. I am so glad these chats are happening, they help so much.
  6. Hi, What is onederland? I have seen the word several times. It sounds good. Congrats on the weight loss. I was banded the end of april and have not lost as well as you. You must be doing a lot right! I am still very happy with the lapband. Wish you the best.....

I think you wrote your last paragraph so well. It says exactly what I feel. I am so indebted to the people who have inspired me and express themselves, like you, so well. Actually the scary stories help me too. We struggle sometimes but we are making it through as the successes show!

We know we need patience but for me I am having a hard time breaking the instant gratification mentality. Please be happy with where you are. I so want to be in that same place too...65lbs is good I mean really good. With all the right things you are doing, the scale has to give it up sooon.
  10. Have not had trouble with weather, I live in so. Florida, but it was cooler today outside. My problem is potassium. Has anyone else had trouble with potassium. The powder if vile so I want to get off of it soon. I take vitamins so I did not expect this. My legs swell and my heart beat races every once in a while. Other that that I'm doing ok. I was banded the end of April, lost 35 then when I went on solid food, I quit losing. I am keeping the faith but I worry I'll never lose again. Sure was sweet while it lasted. Hope your band is not so tight tomorrow, no more parades for you. Happy 4th.
  11. Debora Anne makes sense to me. I would take at least 2 ounces of protein shake with milk next time you exercise to see if it makes a difference. Then when you see you Dr. tell him you tried that. He/She may have several tips. Good luck to you
