  5. I have been waiting for Medicare to approve the sleeve for two years. Well, the time has finally come. I got a surgery date of April 10, 2013. Now comes the hard work of losing all my excess weight but I'm ready for the challenge.

  9. Wheetsin, You're typing is fine. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the LapBand. I also worry about the longevity of the band. Wonderful job of losing 175lbs, that's quite an accomplishment. Thanks for your post!

  12. Don't worry about losing too slowly. I think 25lbs is pretty good for someone who has to lose 80lbs. I appreciate your input about being able to eat more if you do it slowly. Good luck!!

  14. Hello, I have completed all my pre -surgery consultation appointments and I meet with my surgeon on Sept 19th. My insurance covers the Lap Band and Rny but I'm concerned about which surgery would be the best for me with my BMI. I don't particularly care for the malabsorption associated with Rny but the Lap Band also has more long term complications (erosion, slippage etc...), at least from the literature I've read. I'm leaning more towards the Lap Band because it's reversible, if serious complications should arise. I have to lose at least 160lbs and I would like to hear from anyone who needs to lose/ lost that amount of weight or more with the Lap Band. I'm just looking for some support before I make my big decision. Thanks!
