  1. Thanks Everyone! This will be our first child. We have been married 8 years with no luck. This is truely a blessing and a gift from God!
  2. Are you following the lapband diet and exercising? If the answer is no, then you have to do this. The weight will not come off if you don't try to make better choices with your eating habits. Just start over and make the committment to do it. Give the band a try.
  3. Boy I am behind! Got in 6 miles today! I have really been busy and super excited over the last week. Me and my hubby got word that we were selected to adopt this beautiful 10 month old baby boy. I have been beside myself and making preparations to get the baby room ready! Life is good!!!!!
  4. You are doing everything to sabotage your weightloss. I have never liked to exercise but now since the band I make it up in my mind to do it 4-5 times a week. I love pizza and all that other stuff that keep us fat,BUT I had to change my mindset and eat healthy and splurge every once in a while. You have to get your mind right or you will never be successful with the lapband. You have to try to do better. Have you ever had a fill? Do you feel restriction. Try really hard to get some help , refocus and start the weightloss journey. You can do it but you have to change your attitude and try harder. Wishing you much success. Take baby steps and make it happen.
  5. Weight 228.1 Lost 0.9 of a pound. I'll take it!
  6. Im a little late. Gotta catch up. Did some cardio kickboxing and cardio abs. Trying to change up my exercise routine but will always have time for walking.
  7. My insurance requires a PCP referral with 6 months weighloss record. Luckily I see my PCP faithfully every year and inbetween. All my insurance needed from him was 3 yrs worth of weights from my visits and I didn't have to do the 6 month weighloss because I told him over the past about all the diets I have been on. I would call your insurance company and see what their requirements are. If you need a referral from a PCP, then find a new one and maybe join Weight watchers online or in your neiborhood. This will show your PCP that your serious and help you kickstart a healthy lifestyle. Once you get past that hurdle, then you find a surgeon and they will have another list of testing and counseling that they want you to do. Its a tedious process but well worth it in the end.

  9. Change your exercise routine. You can't do the same thing daily and get the same results. I use to just do 3-4 1 hour Zumba and other exercise classes a week and I could loose weight. Now I have to walk 4-5 miles and incorporate exercise classes because my body need a change. So far it is working. The goal is to constantly ttrick your body because it will stall because it gets use to the same routine. FYI the best exercise that i have seen the greatest weightloss is walking. When I walk 4-6 at one time, I get on the scale after I am finished and I am down 2-2.5lbs. Walking has taken off more weight than any class that I have taken at the gym. Try it and see if it changes,
  10. I personally have told alot of people about the band.My friends, family, coworkers, people at the gym. I want them to know about this great tool and how it has saved my life. I have lost 48lbs and people are always curious in how I did it. They are truely amazed at my progress and are great cheerleaders. Sometimes I feel a little embarrassed by my weightloss at work because everyone comments and I hate bringing alot of attention to myself because I don't want people to think I am bragging or being boastful. I don't tell perfect strangers because many never ask. Again its your personal choice on who you tell. I would have probably told the ladies at the gym. Heck they may have contemplated the idea but too nervous because they never knew anyone who had it. Follow you heart and don't put so much pressure on yourself.
  11. Well my weight this morning is 227.7. I was 1. 6 pound shy from my goal but I think I did amazing! Listed above was my goal for October. I reached just about all of them. I lost 9lbs. Increased my water intake and walked 68 miles during the month of September. I did not get into a 16 but pretty close. I give it another month. I love these monthly challenges. Its better than any weight watchers meeting I have ever attended!
  12. At first I was extremely excited about the band because it my mind, as long as I didn't eat slider foods, I would loose weight. We since being banded, and coming on this board, I have learned that it takes alot more to get the weight off. This board was a life saver because it totally changed my mindset. I HATED EXERCISE at the beginnning of my journey but soon learned that it would have to become a part of my life. Through changing my behaviors and learning everything about weight loss, I can truely say that behavior modification is key to losing weight. I now exercise faithfully 5 days a week for at least 1-1.5 hours at a time. I don't eat out alot or engulf icecream like I use to. I have had one fill(1.5 cc) and don't have a problem getting anything I eat down. I don't want my band to be so tight that I am sliming and getting stuck. I do plan to get another fill in a couple of days because for the last 2 weeks, all the foods portions that I normally eat are not satifying me. It could be because of the exercise but I can't allow myself to be miserable because Im still hungry after following the rules. Getting a fill was a totally devastating experience for me because in my mind, it said that I was a "failure" at the weightloss. I have changed my mind over the last month because I am working my butt off, eating like I should and still feel hungry. That was a sign that I needed a little help from my band and just behavior modification was not going to get me through. I am 4 months post op and have lost 48lbs. I am so happy with my lifestyle change and people can totally see the change. People who get the band and don't change their lifestyle will eventually fail at the journey. I don't want to be one of those people so I have to keep my mind right and make good decisions. I never thought I would say this but I like to exercise.I don't love it YET but I'm getting there. I love my band and it has truely saved my life!
  13. So Happy I reached my Goal!!! Anything else is GRAVY! Can't wait to challenge myself in the October 60 mile Walk Challenge.

  17. It has reallly helped me. I have lost 6lbs this month and walked almost 52 miles and still have a week to go. I also joined the weigh in group and that has been extremley helpful keeping me focused. They change the name every month. Its called the Harvest Moon Challenge this month.

  19. checkin in @ 228.6. I think thats 1.9 lbs from last week! Can't believe I'm in the 220's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Walked another 5 miles today. My total is 46.6 miles walked!!! Im getting close!
  21. I tried them after seeing this post and I hated them. I think it was because they were so syrupy sweet with artifical sweetner that I couldn't see past the benefits. I got half of it down but felt nauseous. I guess its back to the old fashion way of getting protein. My suggestion to othes is to buy ONE before stocking up on them.
  22. My BMI was 51 and I have lost 46lbs in 3.5 month with the band. They band has helped me so much in with portion control. Alot of it for me wa mind over matter. I only have 1.5 cc in my band and feel very little restriction. I refused my last fill because I exercise alot and still loose weight. I will probably man up and get another fill at the end of the month words cannot explain how it is helping me in my weightloss journey.
  23. I walked 7.5 miles yesterday. My total milage is 41.5 for September. Only 18.5 miles to go.
  24. Today's weight is 230.5!!! Im in the zone!
