Raw veggies?
Okay, that seems reasonable! My nut said 3 months. I hit six weeks next week. I hate going against my nut but I'm finding this rule difficult.

Raw veggies?
When did you get cleared for raw veggies? Did they hurt going down?

Eating out professionally
Thanks guys! Today was particularly tough for me because I thought I ordered the smallest thing on the menu and it came out huge! It is so hard to tell at a chinese place. I like the "Doctor supervised diet" idea. And rearranging food on the plate will work too. I think that is what draws more attention to me, that I am just sitting there with my hands in my lap!

Eating out professionally
Hey all, I'm about a month out and down about 30 pounds (heck yes!) I'm healing well and all thar jazz but . . . I'm a law clerk and the attorneys like to take us out to lunch regularly and I just don't know what to say! I absolutely do not mind people knowing but divulging personal details is definitely frowned on. Today they asked me if something was wrong with my food . . . I just said I was really full but having only eaten 3 bites it was pretty obvious that something was up. And suggestions??

Chicken??
Thank you sooo much for all of the ideas! I will be trying all of them, very tired of plain chicken.

A stall after only 2 weeks????
Just to chime in, same thing happened to me, and I had the same freak out! Don't worry, it will come off!

Chicken??
I am transitioning off soft foods and have been eating a lot of shredded chicken. Just chicken. And I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions of what to put the chicken with? Or any soft-ish food recipes?? I can't handle eggs still for some reason, but the only thing I can think to put with the chicken is potatoes or something - which is a no go, too many carbs...

Asked my Hubby
I asked my husband how much he thought I weighed pre surgery. He guessed 170. I weighed 245. Men have no idea.

These food dreams are torture
Two days ago I dreamt that I ate an entire pan of banana bread. It was terrible - and I still REALLY want some banana bread. You definitely aren't the only one with food dreams!

Being alone after surgery
You will need someone to take you home - but other than that I was totally fine. I had my mom with me, but I didn't do much but sleep. While it was nice having her look after me it definitely wasn't necessary.

Queasy still
I thinned the Beans with enchilada sauce as recommended by another poster - it worked great!! DEFINITELY ordering a sample. Is it creamy or more like clear liquid??
-
Queasy still
Is it any good? I'm still looking for a protein drink I like...

Queasy still
Haven't had the chewing problem. Definitely something to ask the doc about because what are you going to do, swallow food whole?? No nausea when chewing but I can get a couple bites in then just be disgusted by the sight of whatever I'm eating. I finally tried refried Beans though and I am pleased to say I was successful! I had one too many bites because I was so excited that I wasn't feeling sick Stacy how much Protein are you getting in on that little food?? Have you tried the clear liquid Protein shakes?? I'm nauseous a lot but I just power through to make sure I get to my 60 grams.

Queasy still
Okay, a lot of people have recommended refried Beans. I think I will have to give those a go tonight. I'm also going to get myself some crackers. Just to see if they help settle my stomach Cream soups are a definite no go for me - they make me feel terrible! And have little Protein so really what's the point? Thanks for all the ideas and support!!

Queasy still
Hello and thanks for the advice!! I'm working on less dairy and eating slower. But something else I've noticed - no queasiness when I eat carbs. But they are on my list of things not to eat. Has anyone experienced this?
-
Queasy still
Hoping for some advice.. please? I have been given the clear to start introducing soft foods (my doc has a very broad idea of what soft foods are...) and everything I eat makes me feel like I am going to be sick. Not like I am too full but just like it doesn't agree with me. Even my Protein shakes are making me queasy... but that could be because I really am tired of them. Any food suggestions? Right now all I want to do is eat saltine crackers but carbs are the one thing my doc does not want me eating. I am thinking it might be a dairy problem?

Been sleeved 6 days...
ketosis is when you are burning fat not food - and yes, it does leave an awful taste in your mouth. Mine has tasted like... fake sweetener for weeks.

Returning to work
I had the surgery on Wednesday and went back to work the following Thursday. No pain, just difficulty in figuring out how to eat while working...

2 oz, really???
Thank you! My doctor has given me very little guidance so I feel like I'm flying blind. I see my nutritionist for the first time on Thursday - I'll be bringing a looong list of questions. If I hadn't found this forum I'd be going crazy!

2 oz, really???
I am almost three weeks post surgery and been given the clear to eat anything that I can chew to the consistency of cottage cheese (that is ACTUALLY what the document said). So my question is this - how is it that I can eat 4 spoonfuls of cottage cheese and feel painfully full, but eat like ten bites of noodles (bad idea, I know) and I don't feel full at all? That doesn't make sense to me. Is it because noodles are less dense? I am worried that I have stretched my stomach out already - HELP!! I mistakenly ate 4-5 too many bites of Soup the other day and was in soo much pain - I am really stressing that I am damaging my stomach because of this learning curve. Jen

Scale- friend or foe?
I try REALLY hard to weigh myself once a week, but at just two weeks post op I "cheat" all the time. Sometimes it is discouraging but even when the scale isnt moving I can tell I am getting smaller. So I have to tell myself that is what matters more. I can see my stomach and boobs shrinking so I know somehow I am losing even if it hasn't shown up on the scale

Sleeved two weeks ago - need some support!!
Okay - I have now lost 3 more pounds!! After posting I REALLY worked on upping my fluids and it seems to have stopped the diarrhea and I am now losing a little bit at a time. I am sooo tired of shakes but I am feeling good!

Sleeved two weeks ago - need some support!!
Thank you soooo much! You have no idea how much it help and support you have provided! It is so great to hear that what I am going through is normal. Lynda, where do you get the Unjury Chicken Soup protein powder?? I only have sweet powders and I have to admit, I am getting tired of them. When you changed to soy, did you also change your protein powder? I have been using a whey powder.
