Rinse lentils and drain 2. Place lentils in a stock pot and cover with Water until fully covered. Bring to a boil allow to boil for 20 minutes, turn down the heat and simmer on low heat for an additional 30 minutes. Sprinkle over cayenne pepper. Put in boullian cubes. 3. In a frying pan, heat oil, put in chopped onions and garlic. Sautee over medium heat until onions are clear. Add chopped carrots and cook until carrots are brown and onions carmelized. 4. Put onion/carrot/garlic mix and simmer another 15 minutes. 5. Put the cooked lentils with carrots, garlic and onion mix in a blender blend up. If too thick add some warm water to dilute. Lentils are calorie rich yielding about 226 per serving (1 cup) but they pack in the protein! Enjoy.

im seriously regretting this
Oh honey! It gets so much better than this!!! I was regretting it the first few days as well, but once I was able to get some broth down (which was extremely healing for me) you will feel so much better. Once you get home, have a nice hot shower, sip some broth, put your own pajamas on and get into your own bed you will feel worlds better. Six months later when you look in the mirror and you feel so much better you will tell everyone of your friends who has struggled with their weight to do it too!

The Easy Way Out
Is it stupid people against wls day???? I had a similar situation today with a doctor here who told me I didn't really need the surgery and could try to reduce my weight with a diet and that wls doesn't really work, that everyone ends up regaining the weight...when i told him that weight loss can be maintained if doc's and nut's instructions are followed he told me "just wait you will see" ........grrrrr

friggin p'd off! STUPID STUPID STUPID DOCTOR WHY DO THEY EXIST?????
Yeah well today (middle east time) is a weekend (friday sabbath) and my regular doctor was gone...he was so for the surgery (he's american of course). When I told him that i was doing it he was so positive and told me I'm so happy you are making this decision now and are taking control of your health. I can't wait to see my regular doctor and make a complaint!

friggin p'd off! STUPID STUPID STUPID DOCTOR WHY DO THEY EXIST?????
I went to the general doctor today to get a b12 shot. he asked why I wanted it and I explained that i'm 10 days out. He asked me why I did the surgery because i'm not that fat. I told him my bmi was 36 and I was on the verge of diabetes not to mention feeling that i have undiagnosed pcos. He said why didn't you just go on a diet to try to reduce your weight (in my mind I was thinking DUhhhh gee why didn't I think to try a DIET) i told him that I have had a weight problem all my life which has been escalating over the past few years and before it's too late I wanted to take care of it. THEN he said "wls doesn't work over time you wil just gain the weight back"!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you for real dude? i said well if I monitor myself and follow the instructions of my dietition and wls doctor I should be ok he said "ooook well you will see" I said yeah I will just give me the shot will you????

Ghrelin and memory / learning?
I have been having a difficult time articulating as well. I thought it was from lack of nutrition as I am only 10 days out. I agree that the long term affects of obesity are far greater than the side effects of vsg thus far. I hope my issues with memory go away asap.

I Became A Drunk After My Gastric Sleeve Surgery
I can say to you that i'm definately a food addict. I have been sleeved for almost two weeks now and I have had the most stressful time of my entire life. The first thing I have wanted to do is grab something and stuff it in my mouth. I know if I do this that I will feel so so sick and might even harm myself so it's the only thing stopping me and when i can't eat I'm urged to go and spend money shopping at the mall. I know that i"m definately moving into a cross over addiction with shopping but am aware of it which is the first step, SO, congratulations on the first step of realizing and admitting that you have a problem. Seek professional help, get to an AA, get a sponsor and get yourself back in the swing. you should be so very proud of your weight loss success! Kudos to you!!!!!!!!! Now, keep your chin up, get addicted to working out, and see if your doctor can do an analysis to see if your anti depressant medications are the right ones for you. Sometimes you have to try several before you get "the right fit". I wish you so much luck and happiness in your future because YOU DESERVE IT!

What was the worst part after surgery ?
My doctor did not allow Water the first 24 hours and THAT was the worst part. The first day was the worst and I had these thoughts about why I did it. But they went away the second day when I could take a sip of water:) Just get through the first day and you will be golden.

veggie soup puree
once you stick it in the blender it should be fine but it might take longer to cook up the veg.....
-
veggie soup puree
oh yeah and denise, you might want to chop everything up. I didn't specify because I figured everyone would know but since you are not a cook I figured I might let you know....

veggie soup puree
enough to cover the veggies with about 1/2 an inch of Water above. It's certainly cheaper. It has alot of bullion which is not necessarily healthier but definately lower in calories that panera....I miss panera! I'm 10 days out. i'm allowed pureed veg and potato, I put it over my mashed potato today and it was like an orange gravy, pretty good. tomorrow i"m going to mix in some Protein powder.

Student Loans
of course they don't monitor it....they get to charge you interest for it later and you will be an old hag like me living in the middle east paying off the damn things.....but I digress. Why don't you take out a care loan? It's interest free for 18 months for any surgery you want to have. If you can pay try to pay it off before the interest kicks in this way you are paying no interest. I made the same mistake you are about to make.....DON"T DO IT. Do the care loan it's interest free and you won't be paying it off for the rest of your life. In the event you ever have to claim bankrupcy ( I hope you never ever do, but you never know what will happen in the future) your student loan cannot be claimed and you will pay it until you die, whatever circumstances!!!

protein mock eggpland parm
So I started the pureed phase and I made this little dish that sounds absolutely disgusting but turned out well... 1 large eggplant several scoops of unflavoured Protein powder (mine tastes a bit like cheese powder...) 1 jar of ready made Pasta sauce. 1 boullian cube (or salt and pepper to taste if you don't like boullian) a very very faint sprinkle of parm cheese just to decorate the top. three cloves of garlic crushed to a pureed consistancy I take the eggplant and cut it into small cubes. Put it in a small stock pot and cover in Water only until it barely covers the top. Put the boullian in and let simmer for about 20 minutes or until mushy. Put in the garlic and let simmer another ten minutes until garlic is tender. Mix in protein powder until it looks "cheesy". Put the very ugly looking mixture into a pan, spoon over pasta sauce and sprinkle parm cheese on top just give it a dusting. Put into an oven at 350 for 15 minutes until the cheese mellts and voila you have a high protein mock egg plant parm

I cried at the supermarket today
thanks holly. there is only 3 grams of sugar per serving in the ice cream and I only have it once a day. i have been really good about not having sugar intake. I know artificial sweetners are so so bad, but I have to have something right now. I plan to cut that all to a minimum as soon as I'm on a regular diet. I will have a no chunks no chew rule also. I have gone back to broth and will fish out the fruits. Thanks so much. My husband has been so supportive but he sometimes does the foot in mouth thing.....

Won't sleeve me...
alot of my depression comes from my inability to maintain a proper weight....I say go to another doctor for a second opinion.

I cried at the supermarket today
also it's not taking me an hour to eat. I'm eating/drinking pretty quickly as of today. I have a system for drinking. No big gulps but continuous sips. I keep my mouth on the bottle and let it slowly drain into my mouth then slowly allow the liquid to slide down my throat. I have been getting in all 1.5 litres of water and i feel so good and not dehydrated at all!

I cried at the supermarket today
I'm four days out and I feel great considering 85 percent of my stomach had been removed....anyway I'm not hungry but I began feeling dizzy. My nut allows creamed Soups, yogurt and the like after 3 days post op. So anyway I have been sucking down my soups, low fat/sugar ice cream and yougurt with Protein powder and milk mixed in (although I did not strain chunks as they were so tiny I didn't think they would hurt but maybe I should stop this) So I started drinking down broth and it really made me feel better today. I went to the market with my husband and as we were walking around the store looking at labels of what I could or couldn't have I started to look at the sugar free fat free chocolate syrup and my husband said "oh no no no you are going to waste all of that money" and I started crying like a big bluthering idiot. I kept thinking "omg how can I stand this another moment?" I am only out 4 days and I'm crying like a big baby....anyone else feel this way? also: how much damage am I doing with the yoghurt/non strained Soup thing??? My doctor was not very explicit at all (matter of fact I kind of felt like I was on a conveyer belt the day of surgery!!!). Is the fat free/sugar free chocolate sauce a bad thing? I only put a squirt on my low fat/low sugar icecream and could only eat half a cup.....

I'm going nuts!
I had those pre op pains. They were right on too! Exactly the pains I am having after surgery (I'm only 3 days out) I actually went to my doctor to make sure I didn't have some rare stomach condition (I DIDN"T). The night before my surgery my friend who's girlfriend is a bariatric nurse in our area told me she had never heard of my doctor. He's one of the main professors here and has trained most of the doctors in the area. Of course I took her word for it and decided he wasn't qualified and totally psyched myself out the night before the surgery. My husband was ready to kill me....but I went in the next day and had my surgery and now I'm feeling ok. The first day was the worst day but now as time is moving on I'm feeling better and I'm so glad I did it. Don't let the horror stories psych you out. Look at the stories of people dying a slow death from obesity those stories should scare you as well. It's a difficult life to live when you are over weight. Take the step but before you do make sure you are going to have the health care you need after. Maybe talk to your family doctor and perhaps if it's going to cause a horrible problem maybe it's best to fork over the extra money to have the surgery within the USA....good luck and don't flip out everything is going to work out fine keep a positive mind.
