  1. Amen sister! You get out of it as much as YOU are WILLING to put in! For me, counting calories does it! Whether it's sugar or cream, or what dressing goes on my salad, everything counts. Try to get into a habit of reading food calorie and nutritional intake labels. Keep fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts around you all the time. You got to jump start your metabolism! Remember, count calories! I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, in between snack on protein, nuts, soy products, drinks, I eat something about 7-8 times during the day, remember count calories! Try that and if you wanna cheat, hey, go for it! You will not feel deprived, promise! What works for me, I am sure will for you. God Bless You!

    Can't Stop Eating

Stop beating yourself up! We have all been where you're at! First of all, too much of a good thing (food), is not good anymore and the fact that you are considering getting a LapBand shows you are aware of this. Grieving...not with the band. You can eat your comfort food, but not the amounts you use to. Once you get the band, you will immediately notice a change in your thinking and wanting FOOD. The band restricts the intake of food, therefore our choices in what we eat takes on a different form. My choose in doing the LapBand was a good one for me. I DO NOT FEEL DEPRIVED! I eat those comfort foods, but, my choices are healthier and better for me. My weight kept going up, I had high blood pressure and was diabetic. I needed to take medication in order to level my blood pressure and glucose levels. Well, I am so proud to say, I am off my medications, down 101 pounds and feeling oh so wonderful! I had my band done July of 2009. The weight came off fast initially, then gradual, it was up to me! The band is a tool, need to eat healthier, in smaller amounts and excercise. It worked for me and it will for YOU! Keep the faith and you too will have a "NEW ATTITUDE". God Bless You! Nuumee
  3. Bottom line is....it's up to you! A matter of choice. What worked or didn't work is to each it's own! If you talk to people who have had gastrics, they will talk negativity about the band, visa versa! This is perhaps one of the most important things you are doing for YOU! GOD BLESS!
  4. Hi there Amber, First you need a primary care provider, a doctor, MD. There are certain criterias needed to be meet in order to get a band. $? No insurance? Once you have qualified, check with your state, see if you can get government insurance. I know the state of Hawaii offers free, no cost to you, medical insurance for those who qualify. Okay, lets not all flock to Hawaii, lol! I had medical insurance coverage through my employer, thank GOD, it is expensive, but oh so worth it! The desire is the first step, do you qualify, next (medically and insurance), lab work up, stress, heart test, up to the specialist doing the procedure. Some people are too high of a risk. What ever you decide, GOD BLESS!

    Good to go for Friday

GOD BLESS YOU, you are headed into the right direction. A new life, filled with a NEW ATTITUDE! No more pills, yahoo. For me, that was reason enough to do the band. I am down 98 pounds and feeling good from my head to my toes, yep I've got a "NEW ATTITDUE"! =)
  6. You've lost 50lbs in almost 2 months, that is awesome. Whether to fill or not? Talk to you doctor! Express your feelings and concerns. Besure if you do decide to get a fill, have your doctor check out the fill first. Drink a littlle bit of Water before leaving the room. This will determine if the fill will go down or if it is too tight and uncomfortable. Trust me, if the fill is too tight, you will experience inability to swollow anything, I mean even your saliva, yep! UNCOMFORTABLE! For me there is an aweful tightness in my upper left side shoulder breast area. Please, be sure to not leave the doctor's exam room before drinking a little bit of water. Whether this is your first fill or fifth.
  7. Aloha, What you eat has alot to do with the amount of weight you lose. Choose foods that are lower in calorie and healthier for you, added with excercise and you'll lose more. Remember the band is a tool, an aide, we still need to do our part.
