  1. I'll remember you said that!!
  2. TracyK - Where are you? A sad thought just crossed my mind...when Carson is born Laura won't have time for us anymore
  3. G'morning everyone! Judy - you sound like you are IN LOVE!!! Can't say I blame you! You're so lucky to have a sweet baby to mash on! Yum!! I've been up since early too...Hannah's got a GF over so with a house full of teenagers I've been cooking this morning. Made a sinful orange and pecan coffee cake thingy. OMG it's so good! I'm trying to get rid of it as fast as I can...sent some for DH to take to his mom's house! I feel like bumming around our local flea market today...it's nice out and it's not far away so may go hunt up some bargains. May go hunt for a new fridge, too... that $$ is just burning a hole in my pocket! With just a click of a button I could pay a bill or two but what fun is that??? TTYL you sweetie pies. Have a great day!
  4. Well, I won't go into my lactation drama...and there was plenty of that...but let's just say that both my kids ended up on the bottle, too. Now I'm kinda glad because they're no worse for the wear and my breasts are pretty perky for a 50 yr old! GF's of mine who breast-fed have ...shall we say....less perky breasts and leave it at that. But I DID try and am kinda sad I missed out on that experience. I'm taking Hannah shopping today for her bus trip to Disney World!! (Michelle!! stop squealing!) She's going with her Orchestra class and will be gone for a whole week! She is beside herself with excitement! They board the bus on Wednesday right after school, drive all night and go straight to the park! Their itinerary is so packed that they go from 6:00a to 11:00p just about every day. I guess they keep 'em busy like that so there's no time to get into trouble! She's rooming with 2 Seniors and 2 Juniors (she's a Freshman) so she'll come back all sophisticated, I'm sure...LOL. Ahhhh, to be young again!! I never thought I'd see this day...but my son and daughter are actually FRIENDS now!!!!!!!! I'm sure a bit of it has to do with Evan living here and there's some separation between them, but still.... what a relief from all the yelling and fighting and slamming of doors! Sheesh!! Evan actually ASKS Hannah to hang out....to the movies, to his girlfriend's house, out to Starbucks, Barnes & Noble... it's so nice to have a peaceful household after 15 years of sibling rivalry!! I'm DUE! While we're at the mall today I'm going to stop and get a chair massage for my shoulders and neck... I've never done that but MAN I'm tensed up! How much could it cost?? $10-12? So, I got this bonus the other day, right? I'm trying very hard to resist buying a 'new' (used, actually) refrigerator. Nothing wrong with mine, really...I just don't like it! I want one with the freezer on the bottom so the chilled food is at eye level. I think I'll just keep watching Craigslist and see if I can get a deal....othrwise forget it. Last night after looking at that resort Haydee's going to, i was ready to buy 2 plane tickets!!! Man, isn't that a wonderful resort???? She knows all the good spots in Mexico! Well, guess I'll get ready for my day! Ya'll have a good one! (My spellchecker doesn't like the word "ya'll" WTH????)
  5. Heather - sounds like Pizza night to me!! We have a Carrabba's very close to our house so when that happens to me I just call and order a pan of lasagna and a big salad and garlic bread. Probably costs less than making it myself and I'm off the hook! Works great for us. Haydee...remind me again ('cause my brain is like a sieve)...where are you going? Sounds like heaven wherever it is! I just have one thing to say about this....... The nurses will show you everything you need to know...you probably don't really need a class. I can't believe she was actually ARGUING with you. Hello!? Today is my day off and I went to the doctor for my annual exam. ugh. Got a whole handful of orders for followup tests: colonoscopy (my first ...oh yea!! not!), mammogram, sleep study, some carotid scan thing, blah blah blah. Joy. It's a beautiful day here and I'm being kind of lazy. Should be going to the store but bleh! Sitting here watching Fox Business network and trying to not get nauseous. Maybe I will go to the store.....
  6. Well, ask 100 women who've been pregnant and I bet that 10 out of those 100 will tell you their sensitivities changed during pregnancy. My sister and I both became allergic to penicillin where we never were before! Since it's restricted to your hands only (?) I would imagine it's a sensitivity to something only your hands come in contact with....dish soap? Cleaning supplies? Try making a habit of wearing gloves (or get new ones), and see if that helps. If you wear gloves already, are they latex? Many people are allergic to latex. oh, try this website... looks good: Hand rash - WrongDiagnosis.com
  7. Man, Laura! You are in BAD shape!! Aches and pains everywhere! What about your allergies...how are they doing? Heather - if I have a carby breakfast it sets up carb cravings (read: horrible eating) all day long! As a habit I have cottage cheese & berries for breakfast, but after lunch I like to have (read: HAVE to have) a wee bit (read: as much as I can get my hands on) of chocolate. If I do that, the rest of my day is pretty much shot. LOL If I do manage to resist those lunchtime cravings, then I justify choco-indulgence after dinner!! <sigh>
  8. Do I hear 111? 111 Anyone? 111?
  9. Laura, I'll email you the address.....
  10. I am darn tootin' mad today that I cannot see pics from my desk at work!!!!!:crying::scared2::wink2::thumbup::thumbup: I wanna see Grady!!!!! **************IMPORTANT TRIP INFO************* I mapped the lake house from Birmingham Airport and it's and hour and 45 min drive. Well, guess how far it is from Huntsville airport!?!? An hour and 20 minutes!!! Either airport will work as long as you can coordinate with cars, flight times, etc. So!.......flying into B'ham (BHM) might be cheaper/easier for some of you, because it's $50 cheaper for us Houstonians. Check it out!!
  11. Oh yea!!!!! Congratulations Judy, Bob, Kris and Nathan! Welcome Grady!!
  12. I have to wait 'til I get home to see the pics...can't wait! Hope Kris is doing ok...
  13. OK, NOW I'm starting to bite my nails!!! Oh, the waiting part is so hard!! Poor Kris...going through all those hoops.
  14. I'm just asking WHO is skittish. Kat's worried about Rick's job -- and has said more than once that she's a "maybe" TracyinKS has expressed a lot of financial concerns and DH puts a lot of pressure on her....so I consider her a "maybe" TracyK - she has financial concerns and her hubby is in the oil business -- we haven't felt the pinch yet, but WE WILL!.... I'd say she's a "maybe" Judy - her income is closely tied to the stock market so I assumed she's very concerned ... but apparently not. Haydee - ? She seems OK Pamela - She seems OK Jane - She can drive and save much of the cost of the trip, so she's probably OK Jenn - I think she's been saving so she's probably OK, but her job might be shakey - ? Me - me and DH are both in the oil biz and the writing's on the wall for us. Almost guaranteed one of us will lose our job...maybe both? uh, yeah....that makes me a "maybe" So you can see that there is reason for concern and another counting of the hands....
  15. Well, I hate to bring this up and maybe it's premature....but can I have a show of hands of those who are skittish about finances and our Alabama trip? Today's market is scary as *%!# and no light at the end of the tunnel for this year. I haven't bought my air ticket, nor do I plan to until much later. If 3-4 of us drop out the trip becomes prohibitively expensive for the rest...especially with $$ being tight all the way 'round. I'm raising my hand...
  16. Where has this day gone??? Well, one thing...my girlfriend sent me this link (click on "Dancing 2008") and then was led to Matt's great blog and was reading it for 2 hours+ this morning. Ran to Bed Bath and Beyond for some kitchen stuff I needed, then to lunch for a bit of chili and (worked on my March budget), then to the grocery store! Day gone! Weird thing about being on this new budget thing...takes all the fun out of shopping! As I was walking thru Bed Bath and Beyond I was feeling soooo guilty for being there! I spent $46 (with a coupon!) and worried considerably about it! WTH??? Highly uncharacteristic for me....but a healthy amount of guilt is sorely needed! I could have easily spent $300....I wanted a new deep covered fry/sautee pan but the cheapest one was $129!! And I can go nuts in the gadget department! I bought a cool vegetable/lettuce keeper and a cup that separates the fat from the meat juices when cooking a roast or chicken. Been needing one of those for about ....uh....20 years!! It's beautiful here today, sunny and 65 degrees but the wind is blowing like crazy!! I was gonna wash my car but I think I'll wait 'til tomorrow otherwise I'll get soaked! We even had to have our yard man come today to start mowing and getting the beds cleaned up. Yep! Spring is officially here....birds are very busy out there. Suzie -- that house sounds fantastic!!! It also sounds huge! How big is it? I'd love to have a game/entertainment area like that! I bet you will have lots of fun. Jen - Ouch. I HATE HATE HATE crunches. I also HATE the stair-stepper. I wish I had a rowing machine...a GOOD one... that's what I like. It's quiet around here today. DH played golf and Evan worked this morning. They came home and I went and ran my errands. Now I'm home and they're both gone again! LOL Gonna start cooking in a minute.... meat loaf, green beans and mashed potatoes. Man, I found the BEST meat loaf recipe the other day and this is the 2nd time I'm making it in as many weeks. YUM. Ok, Judy...I'll check back later to see if you have an update!! Ya'll have a good evening!
  17. Oh, I just checked my email....looks like contractions stopped. BUT...as we know...they can start again any minute!! $20 says we have a baby w/in 48 hours. Any takers?
  18. Ommmmmmm....Suzie said &$#@!!!! For those of you who haven't checked Facebook....Kris is in labor!!!
  19. Judy and Pamela -- This is for you!...... A teacher was explaining biology to her 4th grade students. "Human beings are the only animals that stutter," she said. A little girl raised her hand. "I had a kitty-cat who stuttered." The teacher, knowing how precious some of these stories could become, asked the girl to describe the incident. "Well," she began, "I was in the back yard with my kitty and the Rottweiler that lives next door got a running start and before we knew it, he jumped over the fence into our yard!" "That must've been scary," said the teacher. "It sure was," said the little girl. "My kitty raised her back, went 'Sssss, Sssss, Sssss,' and before she could say 'Shit!' the Rottweiler ate her!"
  20. Michelle - I'm so glad you didn't take our advice and are helping your neighbor so much!! He will remember your kindness always...and so with the kids. Nothing like a woman's touch to make a house feel warm. Good job thinking of the tablecloth and candle. Nice touch! So, who's this uncle that's living there? PT or FT? (nosey me!!!) Well, Laura....if you can't figure out where the house is, then we are in BIG BIG trouble!!!
  21. Yep, I remember that hip pain...just this dull achiness, right? As for the ligament pain, I remember that laying down on my side with a pillow supporting my tummy helped a lot!! I had so many pillows in the bed there wasn't room for poor hubby and that last month he had to sleep in the guest room!
  22. What sign are you, Haydee?
  23. yes, hernia surgery is the closest 'match'
  24. Pamela - don't you love working with a trainer? You will really see the benefits in another month or two for sure! Tell your 'new doctor' friend that we're proud of her too!! That must be incredibly exciting!! Oddly, that's one thing I've never had the desire to do is to go back to school. I'm an information junkie...but I guess I like it on my own terms! Also, I'm a Gemini and we have a hard time committing to one subject. We're very typically a 'jack of all trades and master of none' kinda folk. +++++++++++++++++++++ Ho hum. Gonna be a long day today and I'm sleepy. Not a good combo.
