Question for you all about complication
I've never heard or read about such a thing. Is this related to sleep apnea?! Hope you get to the bottom of it!

Bike-riding
Yes!!! and I LOVE IT!!!! It's very easy on your joints but you can get a very good, high cardio vascular workout. You can go as long or short of a ride as you like and you can do intervals or just cruise, or ride fast. I find that I enjoy both the street and trails! I get caught up in the scenery and time just flies! If you put on a heart monitor you will see how you burn calories like crazy!!! It's awesome! and very motivating! I highly recommend it. Also, I am obviously overweight. I carry most of my weight on my butt, hips and thighs. I know I must look... interesting... on my bike :-) But I don't give a hoot! YOU GO!!!!! Have a great time. Also, you can look in your area for a cycling group so you can meet people to ride with if you don't want to go alone. Plus it's just fun! Great way to socialize! You can also try MeetUp for a local cycling group. There are lots of events you can participate in if you wanted to as well. In my experience, cyclists are really nice, encouraging folks. When I am riding on the street, especially trying to do a little climbing on hills, they will give me words of encouragement and support as they pass by. Some hang out a bit to chat. It's the best thing I've done for myself (started in 2008). HAVE FUN!!!!!! DO IT!!!!! :-)

Did any of you ever wonder...
Wow! I can't believe this thread! I have, and do sometimes still, wonder if this will really work for me! And yes, especially during those stalls. One of the reasons I think I almost compulsively come to these boards - in addition to being an incredible source of information, they are a reassurance to me that others have gone through similar things and that I am not alone in this. Bryn you are rigth that sometimes after many years it's hard to change those beliefs. And like you said Adri, I want to be wrong this time, really, reallyl badly! I'm busy collecting new evidence LOL. That's why I just LOVE reading about people's successes, no matter how small. They remind me that it will be okay!!!! I am not alone in this experience. I am not a weirdo! :-) (Okay, maybe I'm a weirdo, but not my fat issue) Thanks guys for your thoughts and comments!

You guys were right, gallstones it is!
Lyndsey, I'm sorry to hear about the gallbladder but I am glad too that you got to the bottom of it. I had my gall bladder removed several years ago. I have to say that the surgery is a breeze! If you have to do it, it should not be so bad. Nothing like the sleeve. I was home literally a few hours after the procedure and I was up and waking and back to normal the next day. Of course I took it easy for a week. But I did not even feel it. Once again, glad you are well. Take care!!!!!!!

Woke up choking on acid!!
Hi Kelly! Sorry to hear about the acid! I don't generally get heartburn, before or after surgery. However, if I get it, it will be because of spicyish foods. Also, I need several hours before I lie down, preferably doing some minor movement - i.e., around the house. Otherwise I will get that sudden acid you described that wakes you up. I hope you ommiting the taco filling works out. From the few times I've that aweful acid I know how nasty it can be. Take care! P.S. - HATE, hate, hate those damn ads. The site would not let me post for a few days and I think it may have been caused by this change!

Emergency Surgery 1 month after being sleeved
Oh Kaitlynn, I'm so sorry for everything you have been through. I cannot begin to imagine how scary this must have been and especially with two young children. Thank you for taking the time to post your story so that others may learn to push thier doctors and not be easily swayed. They are not God, afterall. I am glad you are finally on the road to recovery. It sounds like you are starting to eat more and feel better. I wish you all the best and sending positive thoughts your way for a super speedy recovery!!!!!!!

Eating Slowly
I've struggled with this too, before and after surgery! I find that I have to stay very conscious when I eat. I mean I have to actually say: "I'm going to eat now, so pay attention" LOL I'm serious. So then I actually look at the piece of food and sometimes I have to cut it in half before I put it in my mouth because I got a way to big a bite. Then I chew a long time. But I also put down the silverware. I"ve actually done things like get up and walk to the kitchen or check on laundry etc. I don't really want to do that but I'm trying to train myself to take a longer break between bites. I found that when I do that, that first bite seems to calm everything down and then I slow way down. The biggest challenge has been in restaurants since I can't do all that crazy getting up stuff. AND since I cannot take drinks between bites to slow down. So there I am trying to take a bite and put the fork down and look at my phone, talk with whom I'm with and count two or three of their bites at least before I pick up my fork again. Sorry I don't have better suggestions. Eating way, way too fast and too much in one bite has been one of my issues. I look forward to reading ideas on how others are working with this. Thanks for your post Bryn!!!!!

Wow! Fantastic weight loss!!! Keep up the great work!

Dietician is confusing me!
I agree with others above. I would get a referral from the surgeon's office! This surgery is relatively new and those that do it really specialize. They are most knowlegeable on nutrition pre and post op. Good luck with this. It must be so frustrating!

HOw much should we eat one month post op?
I am about 7 weeks out. At 4 weeks I was still on mushies... which was still really mostly shakes since I developed a lactose intolorance -- so cottage cheese etc. was out. Right now I can eat about 2 oz. per meal and I eat three meals a day. Sometimes I only get about an once in. I cannot finish one egg. Eggs seem to have this "appetite suppressant" type of effect. One or two bites and I can't eat for hours. So I avoid them. Most other proteins I can eat about 1 to two oz. That's it. I can usually get a bite or two of a veggie but not if I eat all protein first. I have to alternate a bit if I want veggies. Things look good but no place to put them :-) I hope this is useful.

Stuck, sick, & tired
I am only 7 weeks out so my experience is limited. I can share that for me, the Protein intake has been a problem in that I developed a sensitivity to lactose and, it seems, to most shakes in general. I only found ONE that seems to work and I am sick of it. But I get it in!!!! The intolerance resulted in intestinal cramping, stomach gurgling and the runs. I also had low energy. I had the same issues with weight loss you describe. In fact, only just recently the scale moved a couple more pounds!!!!! I just focused on getting Proteins and fluids in, making sure I got my vitamines in as well. I also like juicing green vegetables in a juicer. My MD said low protein results in low to no weith loss. Slowly I turned a corner. I've read that others get these types of stalls early on and that our bodies are adjusting. People on this board have helped me stay focused and not be discouraged sharing their own similar experiences. It appears to be a normal part of the process. Possibly some of us go through this part more than others. So don't be discouraged. It 's huge adjustment and it sounds you have lots of demands on your body. You've been through alot besides the surgery with the sinus issues etc. I bet you too will turn that corner soon. Focus on good nutrition and hydration and lots of rest. Sounds like your body needs it right now. I'm sure you will get to excercise and loosing more once you are fully healed. I'm sure others on this board will offer more, experienced advise as well so stay tuned! :-) Be well. We are all rooting for you!!!!!
