    My Story

I can't believe I'm already to this point in the process...I first saw my surgeon in April 2011... Let me tell you all a little story about me. I have a miracle child. His story went viral in Feb. 2011. Our local news station has been following him and has done 4 segments on him so far. As I said it went viral. Fox news picked it up first, then AOL news, then it hit papers in London...as you can imagine, I was reading all the comments (good and bad) and LOTS of them. Someone posted the story on Youtube...the top comment was...are you ready for this? (I'll post his story after this and you'll understand that most of the comments was how amazing he is...how cute he is...what a "nice" family we are, lol). The top comment on youtube was: "His parents are so f*cking fat." That was it. I was like, THAT is what you took away from the story?????? I started gaining weight in 2006 when my son Trey lived for only 6 weeks because of heart disease. Then with Chase added to the mix, well, I deserved oreos. I knew I was gaining fast, but craved comfort. Hence, my running to the Lapband surgeon, lol. Now I'll show you the two most recent stories...I'm 30 pounds lighter and wish I could slap the a$$ that commented on the story so rudely. food. I just wanted to share. Thank you for letting me vent!!! ~Heather PS I am on my way out the door for my first fill!!!!!!
  3. Be patient! That's why fills are considered "adjustments"...it takes tweaking. You'll get there!

  7. I am as excited about my new 2ccs of saline as I would be if I'd just won a car! I never thought tiny amounts of water would get me so happy! lol

  8. On my way for my first fill!!!! WOO HOO!!

  9. Wishing everyone a wonderful and healthy Thanksgiving!!!

  10. One thing to keep in mind when talking to family is that the Lap Band surgery does NOT involve cutting the stomach or intestines. I think a lot of people assume it's very similar to the bypass. The band is much less invasive. You do have to change your habits, but my thought is, if you are committed to becoming healthy enough to have the procedure, you shouldn't compromise it. Take your time in deciding and have your family research it as well, they will likely become more comfortable with it as mine did. Good Luck!!!
  11. I had the band and hernia repair 10/27...I had no pain from the surgery, just the stupid gas pains and like lovepups said, I was tired for a good 2 weeks. The upside...I LIVED on antacids...NO MORE!

    First Lap Band Fill

Hi JoAnn, first of all we're neighbors! Dr. Pham did my surgery...I'm only 2 weeks out so I don'y have a fill until the 30th of this month, but I know what you mean about feeling as though you are eating too much. I can guzzle water like there's no tomorrow and I don't feel any different than I did a month ago... For now...Stay strong!!!
  15. As you go through your post surgery stages, how much shake are you drinking? I get my 3-4 a day, use 1 1/2 scoops for a touch extra protein, made w/skim milk...I just am unsure of how many ounces? It doesn't say anywhere in my paperwork and I think I'm drinking too much at one time, lol... Thank you for your help!!!
  16. Oh good, I do well w/8oz but I heard someone say 4oz....seems like such a small amount. Thank you for the info! I'm 5'9 so I will stand on my tippy toes and continue 8oz shakes!

    pre-consultation eating? food thinking

OK, how's this...you send me the peanuts (YUM!) and I'll ship some frozen dinners your way, lol...OMG the thoughts are SO normal...at least for people like us, I imagine like a drug user craves his next fix. If only we could shift our brains to crave push-ups instead...pfft...

    pre-consultation eating? food thinking

The best way for me to stop "food thoughts" is to make Sunday "food day"...make soup and freeze individual servings to take for lunch...prepare a few dinners ahead of time...get your week of food organized and take the question out of "what will I eat"? Just try it once with lunches, if it helps make dinners as well. It makes the weeks much easier! Hope this helps!
