  1. Get those fills on a regular basis. I get a fill once a month. You have to be strong and when you find the "sweet spot" for your band you will feel the restriction and not the hunger. The weight will come off.
  2. My surgeon laughs at the remarks about eroding bands. My god the band is on the outside of your stomach. It would have to eat its way through to ever touch "the band" However she warns carbonation can expand the pouch and cause slippage. The main thing is if you want a beer or soda do it in moderation. It will be fine if you can tolerate it. Its all about the empty calories.

  6. That article scared me too. I am scheduled for 10/18/11 but at a reputable hospital. They have had a 0% mortality rate since they started this program. Still it makes me nervous. I am only 35 BMI with 2 comorbitities but now wonder if its worth it
  7. Thank You for a reality check. Was beginning to think I will have to live on baby food the rest of my life. I want to change my overeating habit, not my whole lifestyle.
  8. Yes! I am 188 and 5'1"" BMI of 35 I actually had to gain 8 lbs to reach 35BMI. I am scheduled for OCT. 2011 surg. Target weight 125. I lost 5% of my body weight as mandated and now am 175. I see this as an excellent tool to maintain a proper weight. And yes I love my beer. Its carbonation thats the problem. You may want to try rum and a mixer. Some people will flatten their beer. Remember you will feel the effects easy due to very little food in stomach and liq. pass right through.
  9. I'm from Oneonta and still in the process of getting banded. Waiting for ins. approval. Lost my 5% weight had all tests etc. but can't find support group schedule. Any help out there?
