    Emotional Stages of Lapband

Love your post, so true. Even though I tried to research as much as I could, I felt a little deserted once I was banded. You summed it up well. I was banded May 11, dropped about 15 pounds or so rather quickly - water, I guess - got my first fill mid-June. Had my first episode of the sliming etc only yesterday. Don't want to do that again. I feel like I stil l eat too much, so I need to make a very conscious effort to eat slower, chew better and really be aware of what I'm eating. I slacked off proteins too. I was hoping to be down another 10 before I go back to the doctor...Hmmm...I wonder if I can still do that.

    Neck pain

Hope you're feeling better. My surgery was May 11 and I had that pain really bad the first two days and it seems to just be towards my collar bone now. But it's really easing up.. I was told from the doctors office that its normal and from the gas from the surgery. Heat and walking around was all that seemed to help me.

    post lap band depression??

I just had my surgery yesterday and wondered the entire day why I did this to myself. I'm not sure if it was from the discomfort from yesterday or what. I feel I gave my decision some long and hard thoughts. I spread out my appointments over about a year span almost so I wouldn't feel rushed into anything. I was all over the internet doing lots of reading. I felt I was as informend as I could get and felt happy with my decision. Even going into surgery, I was very relaxed, not nervous at all. When I woke in recovery I remember thinking, what have I done. I know deep in my heart it was the right decision, and I'm thinking it's just because I can't do too much right now, so I have more time to think about it. I don't know if you'd call it depression, but it certainly could go there if I would let it. I'll try to stop that from happening. Did anyone else out there have those thoughts?

    Any May 2011 Banders?

My date is May 11. So excited. I only have to do the liquid diet for three days prior to surgery. I almost feel guilty. Two weeks has got to be tough, I know three days will be. My doctor said its to shrink the liver so it makes the surgery easier for him and keeps the liver out of the way. I'm sure by May 10 the nerves will kick in. I'm only scheduled to be out of work for a week, based on what their office has told me. I hope I'm not pushing it.
  10. 44 yrs old, married, 2 daughters

I've been overweight as long as I can remember and I really am finding it hard to believe that I might be thin. I might look nice in clothing. It's exciting. My countdown is going strong.

    Looking for June 2011 Bandits!

Wow, I only have to do three days of a liquid diet. My surgery is May 11 and I have to start the liquids on the Sunday prior to the surgery. I'm thinking it's going to be horrible for the few days - two weeks - wow!! Yes, we have to remember this is all worth it in the end.
  14. My date is May 11. I'm so excited about it. I can't believe I'm actually going to lose weight. For so many years I've dieted, lost a little and got stuck. I was so frustrated. I thought about this for two years and kept researching things on line then decided to go for it as of last fall. Looking foward to hearing from everyone for the thoughts, experiences, hints, all of it.
  15. Hi Peter, My husband wasn't that thrilled either. I don't think they understand how miserable we feel and how much we really believe this surgery is going to help us. I can't wait. My surgery date is May 11 and I'm counting down. My thoughts are the same as yours - once we lose a little, we'll get more motivated to get moving around. I'm doing this for me, to change my life (which he is also a part of) and I really think we can more or less, prove that this really can be a huge help. Good Luck. Be true to you. You're worth it Marcia
