  4. This past weekend, my husband and I were walking in New Orleans when we came up on an Italian boutique that had this gorgeous black dress in the window. My husband stopped to admire it and told me that once I have my surgery and lose my weight, he wanted to get me something like that dress to show off my new figure. While we were walking back to the hotel, I started to think, I have A LOT of weight to lose and will I do it with this surgery? I know that from past experiences, that it takes a while for you to see yourself skinny once you have lost weight. So my question is this, when looking at your self in the mirror (after surgery) how do you keep from seeing yourself as still being heavy? At what point does it click that you are no longer that person who was 80 lbs overweight?
  5. Once you have done your surgery, is someone tracking your weight with you or are you completely doing it at home on your own? How often do you weigh if you are tracking it at home?
  6. December 14 here. I have already met with my NUT, done my sleep study, and met with two of my counslors. I meet with them again on 11/22 for my second visit!!
  7. Cindy0 I am from Central La. I do plan on having it done here in La. 14 days to a new you!! I start my education class tomorrow. I will be thinking of you!
  8. Once you have been sleeved, the mindless eating that was done prior to being sleeved, how is that now that you have your surgery?
  9. Hello to all!! I came across this site while doing research on the lap band and realized that the lap band was not for me!! I am going the route of the sleeve and will actually be scheduling my surgery today. Let me introcduce myself. My name is Kristy and I am 33 years old and live in Louisiana. I am a wife and a mother. I have a wonderful husband who paying for me to have this proceedure done, as our insurance will not cover it. I have three wonderful children ages 5,4 and 3 months. I am over weight; have been all my life. The first time that I was called obese I cried. Like many of you, I have tried the sakes, the programs, the pill and pretty much anything else that you can think of. Sure it works for a while but then it all comes back and then some. I want to be able to have that hop in my step, I want to have my confidence back, I want to be able to exercise with my kids, I want to be able to do things with them and not be tired or out of breath or tell them, I am coming, go ahead, I will be there in a bit. I want to be able to keep up with them. I am nervous. Scared like you would not believe, but I know that this is what I need. In the up coming weeks, I will have many questions and I am sure that my emotions will be all over the place as I begin my life as a sleever. Thank you for being there!
  10. People are going to be negative regardless of what you do. My husband know about the surgery and some of my girlfriends. I have one friend that I have not decided on telling her or not telling her. She is supportative but only to a certain level. As far as my family, that is probably going to be an after the fact only because I have enough to worry with the surgery and I do not need them to tell me that I am wasting my time or money (I am a self pay as my insurance will not cover it).
  11. I am going to be scheduled for my surgery on Wednesday and I have often wondered the same thing. Food is such a big factor in our lifestyle and I guess that a part of me is scared of losing that lifestyle. Another part of me is that I will not be able to sit down and enjoy a family dinner with my family. I know that I am going to be happy with my sleeve but you when you loose those comforts that food and the food lifestyle bring, it is kinda scary to me. I can only speak of my part and my fears. With that being said, I embrace the challenges that will be coming ahead.
