  1. Do you have an ombudsman or patient rep that can help you mediate or find a new doc?
  2. Hope you feel better soon! Sending positive vibes your way.
  3. Best thing to do is call your doc and ask him. If it gets worse, go to ER.
  4. I mix a tablespoon of chips into a tablespoon of Peanut butter. Heaven!
  5. My skinny Dentist called me "String Bean" yesterday! Hilarious! I'm far from a string bean at 172 pounds, but I guess the contrast from where I came from and now makes me look like a string bean. I loved hearing it!
  6. sounds good! Dreamfields pasta http://www.dreamfiel...-nutrition.html 1/2 serving is a TON. Tastes like any good pasta. Not TOO expensive. At many regular grocery stores in the pasta isle. Dreamfields Carb Facts: Nutrition Facts: Serving Size:2 oz. dry Calories:190 Total Fat: 1 g Cholesterol: 0 mg Sodium:10 mg Total Carbs: 41 g Digestible Carbs: 5 g Dietary Fiber: 5 g Sugars: 1 g Protein: 7 g
  7. Lacto/ovo vegetarian. Still love my greek yogurt and a good soft boiled omega 3 egg now and then.
  8. Sally... So glad you found someone here to connect with. The sleeve will work, but if you read a lot of the subjects here, you know it just takes time and nothing you can do will rush it. You are still early out and your body still does not know what you have done to it! You much love your body.... it is keeping you alive, and healing right now... and needs your tenderness. Be kind to yourself, and eat right and drink your water, and get some exercise... the weight will come off. Also... many many people here get a stall in their weight loss at around 2 1/2- 3 weeks. and it can last for WEEKS! this is normal and you are not doing anything wrong. Relax and take care of yourself.
  9. My B12 was low even before the surgery, I take one tab under the tongue 4 times a week to keep my labs looking good. I eat about 6 meals a day... or small meals and snacks. I keep up on my protein... +65 gms a day most of the time... sometimes more. My energy is pretty good... I do need my sleep... and don't get enough. I take a dance class twice a week, and keep up well among the "young'uns" I teach and have to run around after people at times without problems. Have your blood work done to see where you are... you need to take calcium too... and Iron if you are pre-menopausal. Try using Fitday.com or Myfitnesspal.com to track your calories and protein.... after doing this for a while... a week or so, check back and I or someone else would be happy to take a look at what your eating and comment on it.
  10. Its nice to be close to your Dr if problems arise and for follow up....if money is no object that is.....Your insurance does not cover the sleeve?
  11. Sacramento here, I went to Dr Alli at UC Davis Med center. They do follow ups to keep records, and address my skills to support success (Nut visits, psych visit at 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months one year two year), but my regular GP could to this too... she does blood tests for me and is generally supportive. I think the blood tests are the most important. If you have an emergency, theres always the emergency room. Does your med plan have an advice nurse you can call with questions?
  12. I am not quite a goal yet, but I want you ALL to know, before you know it, your dreams will come true! I am going on my first long flight in over a year, and am looking forward to seeing how I fit in the chair and DON'T squish out my neighbors and have to spend the flight with my wings tucked in tight!
  13. Did your doctor give you an eating plan to follow early on? You could go back on that until you lose a few Kgs? There are several vegetarians here, including me. Totally raw vegan would be much harder to get in your proteins. Eat lots of raw if it agrees with your tummy, and add in cooked proteins to supplement. Log your calories and get in some exercise. Its a diet again, but to get back to your goal thats ok right? ...and congratulations on quitting smoking! That will help your health so much in the long run!
  14. Meg, are you eating veg sources of protein? tofu, and other soy products, gluten, tempe , beans, nuts and such? Dairy?
  15. Three friends are overweight. One of them is a Dr. and when I told her at first she was aginst but said she would try and be positive around me. Now that she has seen now well I have done she has talked about wishing she could get it too. (Her BMI is below 35) The second had part of her stomach removed 30 years ago after an accident, lost a bunch of weight but has gained some of it back. She was worried at first that I would not be the same old me if I got skinny... and my weight was part of my persona. She is now a big supporter and seems to see it is still me in just a smaller package. The third one has gained and lost many times... and is thinking about the possibility of getting the sleeve too after seeing my success. She has been very positive and curious every time I see her. I have to say when she had lost weight in the past, I was not as nice about it to her... I was so jealous and felt like such a personal failure.I never said anything bad to her, but avoided seeing her, because of my feelings. I am ashamed of that behavior, and kind of shocked at myself when those feelings came up.
  16. My GP was a dream! She recommended me to the Medical Centers Bariatric center, has gotten me lots of blood tests and is thrilled at my success. Find someone who will be a great medical support for your procedure. Someone out there is right for you!
  17. Thanks so much for stoping in and posting, Good luck with those pesky 15!
  18. Sounds great Meg! I went out to the garden and picked fresh kale. Chopped it fine, mixed with walnuts, white stilton and dried blueberries (I usually use fresh, but was out) I chopped up some Jicama for crunch, a splash of low fat ginger sesame dressing.... BIG YUM!
  19. Irene, your before and afters are inspirational, and bring hope to many!
