  1. So today I tightened up the food a bit, no sugar, gave the cake away, low fat snack and pretty clean. Also went to dance class as usual. My move is to eat protein snacks instead of junk snacks as a start, and try to bring down the calories by 50-100.
  2. Hum. I think see sees it as a challenge to her self worth and to your friendship. She will probably go on a diet... which a few of my friends are doing right now! I wouldn't be too mad, she needs time to get used to the idea!
  3. There are some other sources too: http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=Ghrelin+and+memory+/+learning%3F&hl=en&as_sdt=0&as_vis=1&oi=scholart I have not taken the time to read these yet, but looks interesting...
  4. I turned 58 today! Im looking younger for a change this birthday!
  5. Thanks Brookleen, My pic is a painting I did of a piece of meat. You can see more of my work at feedyoureye.com if you like. Good luck with your fresh approach at the last few pounds! K
  6. Hi Ladies, Kim here. 5'8" started at 257 at the first seminar, 247 at surgery, and 195.something right now. 58 years old tomorrow. Working out 5 days a week. (dancing two, walking two and one of something else) Feeling great, able to eat more and more (scary! but still not THAT much)! Im trying to make the extra food mostly veggies and fruit.....after protein. Losing around 7 pounds a month right now. Thanks Irene for starting this, I think it will be good to help keep motivated and on the straight and narrow! Thanks Ladies for all the support you are about to give! :^)
  7. I think this will be very helpful to keep us on track! ? Good luck to you all. I look forward to getting feedback and support from your all.... and dishing some out too!
  8. OK, so I have 30.6 to lose, well thats close enough. I am at 5 months, and tomorrow is my 58th Bday. I can eat almost anything, and tonight at my Bday party with my folks, I think I did! I went to a salad bar, and ate up, then my folks brought a chocolate cake, and I had part of a small piece, then ate some more when I got home. I was feeling pretty cheaty...and decided to man up and write everything down and keep accountable even if I was going hog wild. 1178 cals. You know, I think I can live with that kind of hog wild once in a while. I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!! My Protein was only at 60 and my carbs were high (like 110!) but tomorrow is another day, and I will take the leftover cake to work and let them scarf it down and get it out of my face. I have been testing the Water a little bit more than I should at this point, I really want to eat around 900-1000 a day... I do work out 5 days a week, and feel pretty strong, so perhaps that amount is not too bad. I am losing around 7 pounds a month right now...things are going pretty slow, but that can still get me to goal in 4-5 months at this rate.... How about you guys? How many calories a day? How many days of exercise a week? How many pounds a month at this point? Good luck girls and boys on the last 30 or less!
  9. Cutest lil'Divette! Hope to see you again soon!
  10. The message here is GOOD NEWS... don't forget that!
  11. Your going to be just fine! You just take good care of yourself, and if you feel up to it, let us know how you are doing in the hospital!
  12. Now your just feeling sorry for yourself! I got this surgery so I COULD eat anything after surgery. There is very little i can't have to eat....just very little of it! I stay away from coconut and carbonation, and thats about it!
  13. I got a sippy cup and a jogging cup and used a measuring cup to fill them up the first time so I knew how much they held. I figured 3 1/2 sippy cups would do it for the day, minimum. I kept a piece of paper next to the couch, and ticked off every cup I drank. I only had to do this for a couple of weeks, now I just eyeball it.
  14. You know how now, when you eat one too many pieces of pizza? And you feel stuffed but not to the I wanna puke stage? You can eat to that feeling with the sleeve too... its just a whole lot less food and damage done! You will have to get used to how the smaller amount looks on your plate, but in your stomach, a small amount is just right. If you eat more than that, you will stretch your stomach out more, and could puke and have pain, I suppose just like you could with a regular stomach before surgery!
  15. Every day. I decided to do this from day one, and learn not to go crazy. Mostly I am successful. I write it in a book and add up the pounds lost every week as a kind of long view of whats going on. I also measure every couple of weeks to see whats up there. I also write down what I eat and keep track of calories, carbs and protein. I really try not to be obsessive, and really I don't like to keep track, but it helps with accountability. People who keep track have a better chance of keeping it off long term, so Im doing it for that reason.
  16. Hi peeps! Jan 18th, 51 pounds. I log everything, am a vegetarian and workout 5 days a week. (dance classes and walking mostly) Last month I lost 7 pounds... down from 10 a month... but as long as it keeps going in the right direction, Im OK with that! I'm now wearing a 14 pant, soon to be a 12....I just went through the closet, and tried some stuff on... I had a tight black blouse that has transformed into a perfect summer dress! I never would have worn it without pants in the past... today was the day to do that, white legs and all! Even my husband commented that the legs were looking pretty good. Love that sleeve! I think it is pretty interesting that we all are in the same ballpark weight loss wise... congrats girls!
  17. Awesome sister! Looking good. Sometimes you just need to look in a different mirror to see the truth!
  18. Wow! You remember it? I only remember being rolled down the hall towards the room, then out like a light. Someone told me what was going to happen...
  19. That is so great! Congrats to you girl! I didn't start measuring until my big stall started, wish I had done it earlier, but it is cool how the inches drop even if the scales stall.
  20. I don't know about this gym.. I belong to a rock climbing gym that also holds lots of classes and has weights and such. Its just so nice, and interesting to watch others climbing and tightrope walking and stuff. I mostly just take the classes. There are several in the SF Bay area and surrounds...
