Fear and Anxiety Getting to Me
You will do fine. Many here made it through without complications. I am 2 weeks out and so far I have experienced nothing out of the ordinary. Yes the surgery did take the starch out of me. I do feel tired and my energy level has not returned to normal. However I do feel stronger everyday so I know it is coming back. I too had lots of pre-surgery jitters. Kind of felt like sitting at the top of the roller coaster hill waiting for the plunge... Excitement and fear all wrapped tight. C.

everything is looking positive
Welcome! Read Read Read! There is such a wealth of experience and wisdom here. I am only two weeks out from surgery and I can't help but think things went easier for me because I knew what to expect... the good, the bad and the ugly... knowing somethings that happen after surgery are normal kind of relieves the anxiety. Psych Evaluation
Hmmn maybe a call to your surgeon requesting they call the pysch to get things rolling? Things are done so different in surgeons offices. I went to a information session given by my surgeon. There he handed out a big packet of stuff telling us about everything we had to do before surgery. It even included all the current requirements by insurance companies. He gave us names of pyschs and what insurances they would accept. Told us which nutritionists had experience with working with bariatric patients. Then he told us about the different types of surgeries he offered. At the end he said if we already knew we wanted to go through with the surgery, get started on the packet. At first it seemed a bit overwhelming but I just started making the phone calls to get everything set up. Khy

Am I bad?
Well I guess every doctor has different instructions. I suffered no ill affects and I am still losing weight. Only 2 table spoons in 1/2 cup of beef broth makes for a very liquidy mixture. My doc starts full liquids as soon as you pass the leak test. Khy

Scared of Complications now
Well I am 2 weeks post op and have not had any problems. I didn't have any nausea or vomiting. It is still a bit of a struggle to get everything down that my doctor says I should have but I think that is about normal. My doc gave me nystatin before surgery to prevent yeast problems and then after surgery they hung 2 bags of antibiotics as a precaution. I am still a bit tired but.. well 800 calories a day and my body is still trying to adjust a bit... still I think this is pretty normal. I would bet many people go through this just like I have. C.

Feeling a little discouraged.
Don't wait for them to call you. You call them. With all of your information being rerouted to a new office.... I hate to think where it could be. Lost? On the bottom of some pile? In some pile waiting to be filed? Self advocate and get the ball rolling. If you can only afford one thing at a time then so be it. At least you will feel you are working toward your goal. Khy

H.Pylori test required???
There are many types of Aetna. Even though I have AETNA that was not required for me. I do know that it is a requirement of Tricare. Tricare is one of the few insurance companies that require this test. H. Pylori is the bacteria that is responsible or ulcers. From what I have read, it is not unusual to have it and remain asymptomatic. Khy

Fast Track to Surgery
Yes it is very helpful to have your PCP on board. That is one reason I changed PCP's. I just did not want to struggle with the old one who was not supportive yet was always commenting on my weight. Khy

I fainted because of VSG?
Yes call your doctor. I felt a little like that during my first week. What did help until I could get enough protein and fluid down was a sugar free sports drink. I think I needed the electrolytes. I really felt better when I used that for a good portion of my fluids last week. Khy

Totally unrelated to VSG - but I have to share!
Gratz!!! How fun! Khy

I tried some protien powder..
Yes they are very filling. I don't know why they make me feel that way though. I can drink the same amount of tomato juice and I do not have the same type of stuffed full feeling. Khy

Shoe Size....
I don't care about the length. I just want the width to shrink. I am sooooooo tired of trying to find something that fits my wide foot. I would love to go to a store and say wow those are cute shoes, I would like to try those on. Khy

I tried some protien powder..
Yes it hits me like that too. I can put down 8 oz of tomato juice in 1/2 hour no problem. Putting down 8 oz of a Protein shake... takes me at least an hour. Makes me feel VERY full and tired. Khy

Am I bad?
I actually felt real hunger tonight. I have been on full liquids since the July 26th. My appointment to be released to mushies is not until the 11th. I have not experienced nausea or vomiting. Well tonight I was hungry and was tired of the 40z of tomato soup that I am allowed.. I put 1/2 cup of beef broth into the blender along with 2 tablespoons of refried beans. Blended it well and sipped 1/4 cup. It made my sleeve so happy. However I think I just went against doctor's orders. I would hate to think I have learned to cheat the sleeve so early. I feel soo guilty. Khy

Feel Good Friday!!! Tell us how much you've lost since your Surgery Day!!!
Surgery date July 26th. Lost 14 lbs. I now have very beautiful slender feet. LOL Khy

2nd Day PostOp hardly any liquids!!!
I think that is normal. Your stomach is still very swollen inside. There is very little room in there. I am over a week post op. It gets easier. For some reason liquids are easier to get down than Protein shakes. I don't dislike the Protein Shakes, there just doesn't seem to be much room when I start sipping them. Khy
