  1. Theresa, When you said you were throwing up I didn't realize it was directly coorelated with your Protein shakes. I am so sorry. Nina emailed me some more specific food plan stuff that I can send you way. I think just do your best and when you start on whole foods you will better be able to get all your protein in. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Good luck, Anna
  2. It will be rough, and it is lots of work, but you won't regret it.
  3. Hey cute lady! Just wanted to say that at about the ten day mark I was super hungry, but that really has mellowed out. You are doing a great job!!! Good for you.
  4. I think those of us who have really been mindless eaters for years are not accustomed to really listening to our bodies and in my struggles post op I think that is becoming the lesson. I think that I have to REALLY slowly introduce things and I thought I'd be full on eating by the start of week four, but I am pretty sure that I will be doing lots of mushies with my regular foods. They go down well for me and at this point I am desperate to feel hydrated and nourished. I am just under a month out and at this point way more of my life is focused on food and drink and then I wish it were. But, when you get here learn from my boo boos and just take it slow and listen to your body. It'll let you know what does and doesn't settle and you gotta go with it. Good luck!
  5. I'm wretched at not the not drinking when eating cuz that makes me totally throw up! But, its the all day sipping. Today I've been setting the timer on my phone for 15 minutes and then taking a sip. Then resetting...then sip and so on. I'm feeling so much better today. The hydration thing is super important! One of the symptoms of dehydration (which I think is messed up!) is nausea and vomiting. Hang in there. We will get this and have cute little butts soon enough.
  6. I have a couple pair of Old Navy 26 jeans. They aren't working for me anymore but if anyone else could use them let me know and I'd be HAPPY to send them your way!
  7. If you have the option you can still pay for some places program fees and have access to all the cool post op stuff.
  8. Tiffany you will be just fine. I had a really difficult time with the preop too, but seriously the learning curve with the sleeve is nice and slow and just be willing to take it that way. Some days will be great and some uber frustrating, but you will be able to do this!
  9. I wish I had measured but I think I may at this point. Lee I love putting a face with your messages!!!!
  10. Hey as I was looking at the dreamfields pastas online I came across the following site Low Carb food, sugar free Chocolates, Sugar Free Candy, and more - LowCarb-R-Us it has loads of low carb options, not sure of how delightful any of them are but thought you may wanna give it a look.
  11. Let me back Kathy up on those protein vials, unfortunately I have a box of 30 on my fridge, but seriously the sickest I have ever been! I have read of others on this board who reported getting really hot and nauseated with them. Just be careful.
  12. I must recant, I have realized that when I drink my water with a straw I ALWAYS end up sliming. It is disgusting. I think maybe further out, but I can't do it yet!!!
  13. I hope I haven't scared anyone away either! This has become a safe haven for me because some of the things you experience pre and post op are so crazy and unique to only this experience so no one else can understand.
  14. I did the same thing preop really bad and then some kind folks on this forum pointed out that the great thing about the sleeve is that there is no food that is totally off limits in moderation after your surgery. I know that dealing with my unhealthy relationship with food will be something that I am doing support groups and potentially therapy for. I think that for me this will be something that even if I am at my goal weight will still be something I work at.
  15. Hey I am sorry to sound like a mooch! I am in old navy 26's and they are falling off my butt as I've gained weight I have gotten rid of everything so I am living in sweats and yoga pants (not so cute) if anyone has any smaller sizes they are wanting to get rid of I'd be THRILLED to pay the shipping. Thanks, Anna
  16. You are still most certainly in a calorie defecit and can make each day a little lower than usual and you'll even out.
  17. If you are self pay the whole process can go very quickly.
  18. WOWZA!!!!!!!!!! Paula you have just made my day. How amazing. Good for you. That is absolutely thrilling. I'm sure you've worked hard, give yourself a giant pat on the back and thanks for the motivation.
  19. I kind of feel like the odd ball. Everyone's posts always talk about how good and energetic they are feeling and I am just not there yet! I am happy for those of you who are enjoying your sleeves so much. I can't wait to be there with you. For now I need to just focus on staying hydrated and trying to not sink too deeply into a crummy attitude.
  20. PACK LIGHT! You will want to bring lots of things to do but odds are good you won't use most of them. I would check all my luggage so once you are done checking it in at the airport on your way home you won't even need to think of it again. I don't know what cell provider you have but you can arrange with some to ensure that you will have int'l coverage for the month of your surgery so you can have a way to communicate with others. Then just take advantage of the fact that you can rest and recouporate with the rare opporutinity of not needing to worry about anyone else's needs. Oh! And if you aren't feeling well on your way home, don't be above asking for a wheelchair if you need it.
  21. I didn't even know I had a hernia, but Dr. Aceves told me prior to surgery that they are very common in obese people and if when he got in there he saw anything he would take care of it. I really don't know that I felt any different post op then I would have.
  22. So as long as I can remember I have been a really gaggy person. My friends and family think its funny, as a kid I couldn't take pills, if someone passed gas around me I would either gag or throw up. Well needless to say this new stomach thing with its sliming and sensations I am not accustomed to are proving difficult for me. I ate a meal just now that was the appropriate size, I chewed like mad, I may have eaten faster than I should have but when that tight feeling comes on my body's urge is to throw up. I am not nauseated, I am not overly full, but I can't keep it together. Yesterday I drank water a little too fast and instead of relaxing and letting it go down, you guessed it. I have to get this together, I know its totally mental, but it is making my recovery slow, it is making staying hydrated difficult. I know this is a uniquie problem and I am probably on my own here, but I don't know what to do!!
  23. Last night I went out with friends and I had a drink of Water and was genuinely done eating for the day and was TOTALLY okay with it, the next thing I know my friend grabs the waitress and says, this is my friend she can't eat, but you wouldn't mind if we fed her some cottage cheese off the salad bar or something. I kept grabbing his leg to get him to stop but he went on like a bad dream, or don't worry Anna she doesn't mind, I mean seriously this girl can not eat! My mom had my whole church praying for my safe return and I hadn't intended to tell any of the people from my home town. I get it Nikki. I finally had to very lovingly explain to my mom that this is hard work, that people don't understand it and judge it unfairly, and it is MY BODY. I get to tell who I want about it and I get to leave it alone with who I want. And there is nothing dishonest about saying you are eating a super restricted diet and exercising your butt off, you are! Don't let this take away from your victories, you have worked super hard to get where you are and you deserve every bit of it. No one else did this for you.
  24. Well first of all I'm sorry that I passed my fixations on to you! The truth is though each time you conquer you get a little stronger mentally. You have proven to yourself that you can't be defeated by certain things. This is really hard, and I think that those who don't struggle with the mental part are very lucky, but that just isn't me. Changing my stomach is restrictive and offers an instant consequence if I do so much as drink too much water, but that didn't change my brain at all. That part is my job. I think there is lots of wisdom in using therapy or whatever tools you need to in order to make this a lasting change. I know myself well enough to know that unless I change the things about myself that make me feel like I NEED food not for fuel, but to get through different situaions, I can make this effort futile. Please know that it takes STRENGTH to ask for help, and that is what you are demonstrating. Each week this gets a little better. I'm just over three weeks and on my second week I felt so isolated and alone. Do your best not to make this a situation that isolates you. Easier said than done I know, where there are people there will be food, but show up armed, with your trusty water bottle, or your protein shake, and be involved. Be proud of what you've accomplished so far, and the fact that those feet of yours are moving in the right direction. I'm here if you ever need to vent or talk, I'm obviously no vet in the world of sleeve, but I'd be happy to learn along side you. Good luck!
  25. If your doc wants you to watch your calorie count, the unjury protein shakes are 20 g protein and 100 calories. (If made with water) I've been a slow recoverer (is that even a word?) anyway, they are light and easy to get down when everything else feels heavy.
