  1. Sleeved on Monday, flew back Thursday and went back to work Friday - waaaayy too early. I was miserable but had no vacation left. I work in an office but occasionally have to lug PCs around.
  2. Today April 6th is my 4 month mark, I too can eat more than in the past 4 months but a LOT less than I used to be able to pack away pre-op. Your stomach has pretty much totally healed, the swelling is down and things have settled down - so it's somewhat natural. Measure or only server specific portions and don't exceed them. We went out for my birthday yesterday and I ordered a spaghetti dish, I knew I couldn't eat all of it and looked forward to the left overs - YUM! - but sure enough I took maybe 2 bites too much and the discomfort then pain set in. It was 15 minutes before I felt OK. So the restriction is still there - so don't push it. Keep with your same portions.
  3. Doing fine! Isn't it eat to be able to BREATH in your cloths now?
  4. Way to go! Keep losing!
  5. So sorry to hear this, we all wish you the very best. Get well SOON!!!
  6. I've been giving myself a prescription injection every 2 weeks for like 8 months now, I've noticed that I have more problem poking through the skin now, contrary to "normal" advice I found that slowly inserting the needle is less painful for me than jabbing it in quickly. Now when I do this I can't break the skin very easily, I now have the jab through - which just about puts me on the ceiling! So does the skin draw up and get thicker? I suppose it makes sense it would strech and get thinner as we gain weight too.
  7. It's not just you - or females either. I too experienced nearly identical blessings, I used to have a real sour acidic sweat that bugged me. I now rarely sweat and am cold a lot. I was getting hot flashes (I'm 50) which made NO sense to me or my doctor, sitting there and WHOOSH! It was like I was on fire, broke out in a sweat and my face would turn bright red. It would pass in maybe 10 minutes, typically it happened in the evening. Not ONE episode since the sleeve.
  8. Me too, typically when I at too much too fast. I get a hot water sensation in the back of my throat that precedes vomiting - which luckily I've avoided till last Sunday.
  9. We all wish you the very best! We ALL practically come from a very similar place and weight loss is ONE of the many things that can help us to a better place. Keep concentrating on the good things! You can do it!
  10. If at all possible switch doctors, I would personally hate to do this but if my doc was unsupported it would be adios amigo, I'm outta here. If you could find a willing doctor and your insurance allows it try to get into another doctor just concerning this issue, get the approval and use your normal doc for everything else.
  11. We all wish you the best of luck. I underwent a stress test last fall, it had to be chemically induced because I was having terrible knee, foot and back problems, I could not walk for the 10 minutes required. It is a real trip and happens very suddenly, don't panic because it soon passes, be sure to eat something hi carb afterwards to get your energy back - don't worry about the carbs, you have earned them by having this test.
  12. Human chorionic gonadotropin It is a relatively new diet concept. Below is a Wiki article on it, some scary stuff, especially tumor production and forced fertility production. To each his own but I remember all the other "fad" drugs that came out in the past that are now banned - Phen-Phen comes to mind. I'll wait for the fallout, thank you. https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Human_chorionic_gonadotropin#Weight_loss
  13. It can and does fail, or at least some PEOPLE fail the sleeve. If you are hell bent on eating too much, too often and the wrong things then you can gain or regain your weight. It is a tool, a very good tool to limit your intake, possibly remove some hunger and help YOU the "user" accomplish a weight loss. YOU have to start and maintain a proper diet, from the operation on out. NOTHING is guaranteed.
  14. We wish you the best, and a few of us know EXACTLY what you're going through. It was dang near a month before I felt fairly good at all, 2 months before I really felt truly good.. It's worth it though, stick to it, You Can Do It!
  15. I feel nothing but pure jealousy It'll be a while before I get below 200. Congrats! Great job and wish you continued success.
  16. I too was stuck for quite a while, the fat around my waist was one of the last to start moving, but once it did I've dropped from a TIGHT 52 to a right fit 40. Perhaps your the same and have what the call "stubborn belly fat".
  17. Wow, my experience has been just the opposite, almost everything tastes off or even BAD even after 4 months. I can't stand even old favorites and have to force myself to eat some days. Sweets especially taste bad to me.
  18. Rootman posted a topic in The Lounge
Well I had one set of smaller size clothing set back having gotten rid of all my previous sizes. Pre-op I was in a 52 pants and they were just about cutting me in two they were so freakin' tight. I had a few pairs of 46s and wore them till they were almost comically baggy. I finally went shopping for new britches a week ago Saturday. I tried on a 42 and they fit about right, a little loose but not too loose around the waist, I then tried on a 40 and they were kind of snug. So I ended up buying 2 pair, the 42 and the 40. I ordered a pair of jeans (I like a certain brand - Deluth Trading) in 40s thinking it would be OK to wait a week or two till they were comfortable. Well I wear my pants for 4 days M-T (please no comments I work in an office and just don't get them dirty, EVERYTHING else gets changed daily) and jeans on Friday. By Thursday I noticed the 42s were getting kind of loose. The size 40 mail order jeans came Thursday so I washed 'em up in order to try them on Friday morning fully expecting to have them NOT fit yet. To my shock they fit fine and the legs are a little baggy at that. In 4 months I've gone from a TIGHT 52 to a comfortable 40, that's 12 inches lost around my waist! I've been a cheapskate and refused to get a new belt. My belt goes around me and then again about 30% almost 16" stick out past the buckle! Jeez, I love this sleeve!
  19. Congrats! You are an inspiration to us all.
  20. Boy this is a tough one. It really depends on what the neurapathy is, nerve or blood vessel damage. It may be irreversible. There certainly is no guarantees that it will reverse. Having all three issues I can say that my back pain has pretty much cleared up. I am hard pressed because my back pain was not the typical lower back pain from being overweight, it was higher and actually looked to be referred pain from my kidneys - but my kidney functions were all OK. I did find late last year that I was low on testosterone - which is largely produced in the testes but also the adrenals - which are on top of the kidneys. I started testosterone replacement therapy and the pain started to go away. It also made me more confident and probably played a LARGE part in my finally having the courage to go through with my WLS. I have neurapathy in both feet, but I was not diabetic, at least not that blood tests and extended sugar level testing ever proved. One neurologist did an EMG test and another one confirmed it. It too MAY be letting up at 4 months and 100+ pounds lost. I say MAY because it just does not SEEM to be as painful, but this is just my observation and not confirmed by diagnosis. Now, the neurapathy may not be reversed but it stands to reason if the diabetes is eliminated further damage should be avoided. I stopped taking blood pressure meds the day of surgery and never started again because in a matter of a week my BP dropped into the borderline range and within 2 months was in the normal range. Again, NONE of this is a guarantee but loosing weight by any method DOES guarantee a reduced risk by MANY diseases and obesity related complications. As normal IANAD http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ianad
  21. Congrats Sue! Doesn't it feel great? Wasn't it worth all we went through?
  22. Wow, you and I must be twins separated at birth! Started at 275, target weight was originally 200 but wanted to be below the "overweight" category on the BMI charts and changed it to 190 then 180 because I remember how good I looked in high school at that weight. If you're anything like me you really start to look good below 200 - so the rest is just a bonus!
  23. Remember "You can do it!" (read that in Rob Schneider's voice) I'd never suggest anyone take the Mexico route unless sit is a last resort.
