  1. Yesterday there was a post on this forum asking: question for those 8 months or further out On that post there are many losers 100+ loss... and there is one that is 300+ loss
  2. Great advise!!!! Thank you and Congrats on your 100+ weight loss - wow! Under your target weight!!! Awesome!
  3. Hi Robin, I lived on fat free cottage cheese and still do, but unfortuneately you said you dont like it. Yogart, - Kroger has a carb concious yogar that is pretty good. I do tuna fish with a tablespoon of fat free mayo.. I do the same with chicken and the imititation crab meat -- I add a tablespoon of fat free may and make it more like a tuna salad, chicken salad, etc.. I still do a Protein shake in the morning. I was never a Breakfast eater and still - 5 months out I cannot eat in the morning, so I do a shake: EAS brand premixed.. the have AdvantEdge Carb Control it is 110 calories adn 17 grams protein. I buy atkins bars at Wal-Mart and I eat one a day for mid-morning snack. read the boxes on the Adkins cause each bar has different protein levels. I buy the chocolate Chip Granola @ 17 g protein and the Chocolate Peanut Butter @ 19 g protein - you can get coupons at Atkins web site. So by noon I already have in 35 - 37 grams protein.. I eat my cottage cheese, string cheese, chicken, etc.. something on that line for lunch and mid afternoon I do a protein shot mixed with Water and crystal light... I buy the protein shot at costco - but you can get them anywhere.. I do the Costco @ 26 g protein --- dinner is light, chicken, turkey mediallons (wal-mart frozen), I also eat lean cuisene when they are on sale. Good luck finding what works for you!!!
  4. Hi! I was told prior to surgery that any movement using my stomach muscles could hurt and to plan on sleeping in La-Z-Boy chair for a few nights. I actually slept in La-Z-Boy chair for about a week after surgery because my bed is very high off the ground and it did hurt gettting in & out of it. The first week it hurt to get up & down out of a chair too, or the car! Oh my, getting in & out of the car pulled at stomach muscles... nothing that I truly needed to take pain meds for, but it sure let you know to be careful! It took me a good week to heal up enough to sleep in bed and do the simple tasks with out feeling the pain. Good luck!
  5. Question... did your husband always buy fast food and eat it infront of you? or possibly you both with have fast food and eat it together? I agree with Baja Med, you have to find a formula that works for you, and if I can add, it should be non-confrontational. My doc told me ahead of time that this surgery is an adjustment to your hormones. My husband was with me during this visit and the doc turned to my husband and told him I am going to have good days and then I am going to have Mr. Hyde days and could be totally out of character. I have noticed mood swings a lot since surgery and I notice at times I have become angry over something totally stupid that normally I would have ignored. So with this being said,, lets just "suppose" eating fast food infront of you was nothing out of the ordinary prior to surgery... Have you talked with him and told him this makes you uncomfortable now? Maybe the next time he brings home fast food, you can use your built up feelings to go for a brisk walk! LOL! Try it! Good luck finding the right formula that will work for you,,, it is your journey.
  6. I would suggest you call your doc office/nutritionist and ask... My doc said no more than 4 oz, I weight or measure almost everything! 1/4 cup of fat free cottage cheese and 1/2 cup of meat, chicken, seafood typically equals out to my 4 oz.
  7. Congratulations!!! It is awesome, and they you keep the count down going, hitting 275, 250 and to be out of the 200's... ugh.. I cant wait!!! Congrats to you!!!
  8. My taste buds have changed, I use to love yogar, tuna fish, chicken salad... now, cant eat any of those things...they just dont taste right. I also am finding things I like now that I never did! Its odd, but I have seen other people say the same thing after WLS... they also have said give it time, maybe you didnt care for the chicken teriyaki today, but 2 months from now you will love it again...
  9. Careful what you stock up on.... I did that and have a cupboard full of sugar free applesauce, sugar free pudding & sugar free jello,, etc.. you get the picture. I had read that your tastes could change after surgery and mine did! I use to love yogart, ate it 3-4 times a week prior to surgery, now,, nope,, cant do it now and the same for a few other items that I use to really like, now I dont. The stuff I bought ahead of time, I over bought and I couldnt eat half of the stuff I bought prior to surgery, its still in my cupboard now - 5 months later! The only advise I can give you is to try some samples of protien mix... buying the powder and mixing yourself is less expensive.... some places have sample packets so you can try instead of having to buy a huge 2 lb container.. Barix stores on line have sample packs.... A fellow sleever told me to find a protien mix that I like b/4 surgery cause I will need it for sure after surgery and she was right!
  10. I have tried the Super Whey Protein Shots, as well as about 4 other brands.... they all have the similar taste, regardless of the flavor! I dilute them with 12oz Water and add a crystal light, lots of ice and I am good to go.. .. I really like the protien shots.
  11. Congrats Joan! I am happy for you too!! It is amazing how much this surgery can change your life!
  12. Awww, sending good thoughts your way!!! Wishing you a very sucessful surgery and wonderful recovery and soon you will be on your way healing, making healthy eating choices and looking for smaller size clothes to wear!!!
  13. Congrats Greg, I am a Michigander too!!! I am 5 months out and each day is just incredible! About the 3rd month you are on cloud 9! Your healed, your energy is back, you've went down a size or two in clothes! It's just wild! I love it! Good luck to you!!
  14. CONGRATS!!! You look awesome, totally love the picture comparisons... wow,,, way to go girl!
  15. Golden, Your energy level will be low for a while, my doc told me up to 6 months post op. I am at 5 months post op and each week I can tell I have so much more energy, but boy those first 3 months I was pretty tired at night after working all day! Good luck...
  16. Both costco & Sam's only have one flavor - fruit punch @ Costco, and Sams is like a cherry or berry, something fruity like that. The Sam's Club one has 32 grams of protien, but the taste wasnt as good at all, again, I cover it up with Water and crystal light so that it taste better and I have no problem with it. I like the taste of the Costco one better and I still mix it with water and crystal light... I totally do not know how anyone can just down the shot in a couple of gulps,, yuck! I do not have a membership to either Sams or Costco, so I have to rely on when my sister or girlfriend goes, then I load up on them! I totally love these Protein shots mixed with orange crystal light and water.... I have tried other cyrstal light flavors withit...but the orange is best, helps cut down the protein shot taste better! Try it... it truly helps get your protien level in!
  17. Hi, I cannot advise on your question, but I saw on your ticker you have lost 91 lbs! That is sooooo awesome! Congrats to you, it must feel great!
  18. Great perspective!!! I love it! Congratulations on losing the inches..wow,,, tape measure doesnt lie!!! You are doing great - try to only weigh yourself once a week....hold off as hard or tempting as it may be, hold off for one full week..... if avoids the ups & downs that you see when you weigh yourself so frequently.
  19. CONGRATS MYRORI!!!! Great weight loss!!!! Gheeze I see on your ticker you are less than 20 pounds from you goal, that has to fee so good! As hard as it is we have to try to ignore peoples opinions on our choice of "going under the knife", most of them are to stubborn or ignorant to see why our choice was the right one for us. Mama always said: "Stupid is as stupid does".... gotta love Forrest Gump!
  20. I have not see any Sunkist brand protein shots. I buy "Body Choice" from Cosco = 25 grms of protein in 2.9 oz tube. I also have tried Sam's Club protien tubes, they had some fruit punch flavor @ 32 grams of protien...
  21. All of the above was hard, slow chewing, dont drink for 30 mins after eating, giving up caffeine & pop... Eating slowly, small bites, chew, chew, chew... still gets me all the time! I get hiccups way bad if I do not eat slow , and I am normally such a fast eater that this is really a hard habit to break!!! LOL!
  22. Congrats!!!! Very happy for you as it had to be frustrating at stall... I just wanted to add that it is surprising the differences between doctors and recommendations, etc... My doc/nutrionist has it listed no fruit or veggies for first 6 months. I am sooooo missing a salad! They told me I have to focus on protien first and with our tummies being so small, although it is good food, we do not want to fill up on fruits or veggies. So I was suprised you were eating fruits and salad at only one month. I know all doctors advise is different.. Good luck & keep losing!!
  23. Awesome pictures!!! Congratulations to you!!!
  24. This is good to know~! And Congrats to you - 2 years out and you are still doing great!!!
